The planet Jupiter has 79 known moons. 79… that’s complete chaos within an atmosphere. But, I have moons too. Moons that cause so much more than chaos. My moons each have a different name. Sadness, anger, grief, addiction, and each one is in a constant orbit around me. You see, my moons didn’t show up until I was 18. Before them, I was happy. I had great friends, a loving father and a boy with … father and a boy with the most perfect green eyes who loved me.
I couldn’t have asked for anything more, but then tragedy struck and my life started to spiral.
I was thrown into a new world of drugs, sex, and alcohol, not caring about anyone who tried to save me. I took on a new persona, I abandoned everyone who loved me, I pushed until I couldn’t push anymore.
My name is Jupiter. Let me tell you about my moons.

The story of Jupiter and Her Moons by author B. L. Mute is an astounding not just coming of age story, but a coming to life story. This story isn’t just about growing up, it’s about learning to live rather than simply survive. The many ups and downs of Jupiter’s life truly keep the reader on the edge of their seat begging for more. Although it is excruciatingly difficult to really capture the greatness of this story in words, it’s beautiful writing really does speak for itself. The talented writings of B. L. Mute completely immerse the reader into feeling all of the emotions of the characters. The author does a tremendous job painting the images of the story line so that each loss, heartbreak, and rekindled love connection grip at the readers soul; all while every mention of James’ daring green eyes threaten to haunt and tease your dreams. Overall, this story is officially one of my favorites. I can’t wait to see where the characters and stories go from here. I am looking forward to what the future of this book series brings.
Piecing Herself Back Together.
BL Mute begins her Mended Universe series with Jupiter and Her Moons, and it is heart wrenching!
The struggles of a beautiful young girl, as she copes with an ungrievable loss, is the focal point of Jupiter’s story. But there is so much more.
The depth of pain that Jupiter feels, and the additional pain she causes, is present in BL Mute’s amazing writing skill. She also brings in a number of characters that share their emotional depth, too.
Not one to enjoy a sad read, this book, at times, took strength to get through. But the light shining at the end was worth the struggle.
I really enjoyed this debut novel by B.L. Mute. It is a quick read, and while definitely not tackling light subjects, Jupiter and Her Moons gives you a new, fresh perspective on how someone’s world can suddenly implode and the consequences of that implosion. Told in present time and in flash backs, it is very easy to follow with Jupiter giving her own narrative, even the messy, dark, and difficult parts. While it can be hard to read some of the situations and life experiences that Jupiter goes through, the reader can’t help but root for her to ultimately have her “happy ending” and find the strength she needs to evolve and heal by the end of the book. I hope you will give this novel and it’s author a chance. 5 Stars!
