Drew Forrester is a total adrenaline junkie.
His high of choice?

The faster, the better.
He’s been making waves in Maryland’s underground racing circuit since he crossed the state line, and after speaking with him, we know he’s not hitting the brakes anytime soon.

… is there are no rules?
You gotta be hungry…
You gotta have balls…
And you can never back down.
What’ve we learned here at GearShark?
Drew is all of the above.
We also know he’s got some secrets buried under his hood.

The characters took a little bit for me to like them. I haven’t read the Hashtag series before I started this book, and I think I would have liked Drew and Trent more if I had known more of their background before I jumped into this book. However, this book works well as a standalone, and soon Drew and Trent won me over.
This book felt a little rough at first. The characters’ personalities felt like cardboard cutouts of alpha-like guys, but as the book progressed, the main characters became more dynamic and interesting. I like the direction this book went, and I’ll definitely be continuing the series.
#Selfie #Poser (Hashtag Series Book 5) #Heart (Hashtag Series Book 6) #Bae (The Hashtag Series, #8) #Rev (GearShark, #2) #Swag (GearShark, #3) #Junkie I have really enjoyed the entire series!! Great reads, quick and unique to each relationship and situation. Frequently, I see a writing trend in an author and every relationship follows it somehow — but that is NOT the case!! The author did an amazing job applying every character and their personalities to the relationship(s).
I listened in the Audible unlimited package 🙂 #Nerd #Hater #Player
Love is love and it’s horrible to think we still live in a world where people don’t see that. The path in which Drew and Trent found their love was beautiful and I can’t wait to continue their story in the next book of the series.
So great. Loved this series. This is a spinoff from another series but don’t need to read the other one. Really fell in love with the guys. They have such a connection and know each other inside and out. I laughed and cried and cheered. You will want to keep reading the test of the series as this is just the first one with the same 2 main characters. Their story continues.
This series begins with some great characters from another beloved series, #nerd. Drew & Trent are best friends first. They share a love of fast cars, sports, and hot bodies.
They also share a secret. Both of them are attracted to one another. Only one knows there is more to this friendship than meets the eye. If he tells the truth, he may lose everything.
Will secrets unravel and ruin the friendships they share? Can accepting ones true self help in accepting others? What it takes to gain so much more when your scared – is facing the fear and claiming your choice.
This book is full of surprises for the reader. Each chapter unfolding as if a wardrum playing in my head. You never know what happens at the last beat. I thoroughly loved each page and I am anxious to read the next book in the series!!
Cliffhanger of an ending but it was so good I didn’t care
I am on such an MM kick that I decided to finally dive into this world and I’m so glad I did. This friends to lovers, slow burn, beautiful story is a book all fans of MM should read. Trent and Drew are amazing. They are sweet and have a connection that you can feel to your bones. Even if you aren’t a fan of MM, want to try something out, then this book is perfect. It’s not too dirty, but it’s an amazing story of love and friendship. I can’t wait to read the next one. 4 stars #2OCCJD
I really wasn’t sure how I would go with this book being a MM book (I have nothing against it, I just typically read MF or MFM books). But I really wanted Trent and Drew’s story after the Hashtag series so I jumped in feet first and WOW! I loved every minute of their story. I cannot wait to see how it ends with the next book!
Love is patient. Love is kind. That’s what they say. They also say love doesn’t take; love only gives. While these words are beautiful, they aren’t true. Love does take, Loving someone take strength. Love takes hard work. And sometimes….Love takes sacrifice.” Drew Forrester is a pure adrenaline junkie, whose drug of choice is cars; fast cars. He likes the freedom and pure exhilaration that driving affords him. If even for a time it provides him escape from a life that has been laid out for him, a life he doesn’t want and is fighting like hell to escape. Trent Mask is Drew’s best friend. From the outside he looks like he has the perfect life; star on his college’s football team and president of his fraternity. But thing are not always what they seem. Trent finds that the feelings he has for Drew, go beyond that of a basic friendship. But does Drew feel the same way? #Junkie by Cambria Hebert is a wonderfully, emotional, heartfelt journey of two men trying to navigate, life, friendship, family and ultimately love. It does end in a cliffy, but I can’t wait to continue this ride with them and find out of they get their happily ever after.
Wow, this book!! I agree a 110% with the authors note. This book is beautiful and I loved Drew and Trent’s love for each other. I am so glad she wrote their story, I’ve been wondering how it was going to happen since #Heart. I can’t wait for the next book! I really dug all the racing scenes, I felt like I was sitting right there in the car with Drew. Oh, the random car facts on each chapter are great! I was quizzing my husband on them.
Thank you for writing your version of M/M. It was #wonderful.
Oh man, oh man. Seriously, be still, my beating heart. These two boys definitely stole it and put it through the ringer. I find it kind of fitting that #Junkie is the very first book that I’ve finished of 2016. This book is a spinoff of the Hashtag series, which began with #Nerd, the first book that I finished in 2015. A whole new year, a whole new series, and a whole new genre.
As I was reading the Hashtag books I immediately new that something was up between Drew and Trent when they first began interacting with one another. I’m not even sure if Cambria knew where the future of these two characters was going to go but I just felt it. I knew there was something there and I was super excited when she announced that the book was going to be an M/M romance.
I spent every day after the book was annnounced in agony. I wanted to read this book so badly and literally fangirled every time something new was posted; a teaser, a graphic, anything. And then Cambria offered me an ARC of the book fifteen days before it was scheduled to be released. I thought I was going to die from excitement.
And ya know what? Drew and Trent didn’t let me down. One of the reasons I was so excited for this is because the majority of M/M romance is pure smut. There’s hardly any emotional connection and it’s over as quickly as it began. I have no problems with smut, in fact I love smut, but I love reading about how the characters feel when they realize something so new and different about themselves. I love reading about feelings and a love so strong that it completely changes their idea of who they thought they have always been. That’s where LGBT romances get me. Right in the heart.
#Junkie was all of that and more. These two strong, courageous men took me on an emotional ride and didn’t let go. I understand perfectly why Cambria and other authors might be a little hesitant about writing stories like this or feel a little pressured to do it a certain way. I’m sure it must be challenging and overwhelming to write about something so hard and emotional, something that you’ve never experienced in your own life, but Cambria did it so well.
Trent and Drew were amazing together in every way possible. Their story was heartbreaking and beautiful and nerve-wracking and perfect. If I ever believed that two characters needed and deserved to be together, it’s these two. When the Hashtag series first began, I fell in love with Romeo and Rimmel. With Braeden and Ivy, I fell head over heels, feeling stronger for those two than I ever did for Romeo and Rimmel. But Trent and Drew are on an entirely different level. From the very beginning I was pulled in the direction of Trent, wondering what his role in the story would be, wondering why we weren’t learning more about him. He was such a great character, so why wasn’t he getting his time?
When Drew was introduced I was confused at first. Who is this guy and… do I like him? Do I dislike him? What was he going to add to the story? What was his deal? And then he met Trent and I knew. I just knew. They were perfect and it was perfect. The whole time I was praying that Hebert was going to take them in the direction that I felt they were needed to go. And she did and it was amazing.
Everything about this works and I couldn’t get enough. The only bad thing is that the second book hasn’t been written yet and I have to wait to see what happens next. 😉
A breathtakingly beautiful story you won’t want to put down!
I have read a great deal of MM romance stories yet this is the first I’ve read by Cambria Hebert. It follows the world of underground racing most have witnessed in the Fast and Furious movies. In the middle of adrenaline pumping action are two best friends who come to realize they are much more. Their journey is heartbreaking at times. They pull you right in and don’t let go even after the book is over. I didn’t want to put it down and it has been a while since I could honestly say that. My heart is still pounding and I can’t wait to start reading the follow-up to this book. I’m on my way to start that right now. I strongly encourage you to take this journey. You will not regret it!
Alright friends it has happened. My M/M cherry has been popped!!! I was wary at first because this is a genre totally out of my comfort zone just like the genre dark. But I decided halfway through #Bae I wanted to know Drew and Trent’s story. I knew in #Heart that something was up with those two. It was a feeling. I liked that Hebert had that there. It makes her a great author.
Drew and Trent hit it off right way when they met at Screamerz. They were best of friends. They loved cars and they both had Mustangs. Lately though Trent is starting to realize he loves Drew. No not loves but loves Drew. What he doesn’t know is Drew feels the same way. One night Drew is hiding out with a girl named Joey at a gay bar trying to avoid a guy named Lorhaven. Drew sees Trent at the bar talking to another guy. From there Drew knew he was a goner for Trent. Trent finally confesses that he has been questioning himself. Drew got pissed that Trent was keeping such a secret from him. A secret he wanted to try with Trent.
I was glad this was my first M/M romance. Trent and Drew were adorable together. I love how possessive of Trent Drew is and how protective of Drew Trent is. So cute. I am shipping this hard. But seriously Drew’s jealousy is just too damn cute. The protectiveness Trent has, kind of a turn on. I love these two. I love them even more together.
OMG! I’m crying because this book is so beautiful. It has been a while since a book has had this effect on me. I fell in love from the beginning and it just got better and better. I was giddy with excitement at how friggin adorable Drew and Trent were. I wanted to group hug them and force them to be my best friends. So friggin adorable and Drew is meant to be my bestie. The man loves cars and ketchup as much as I do.
#Junkie has taken the cake and is now my favorite m/m romance. I mean this book is so damn amazing and I seriously can’t stop crying in both happiness and complete sadness. Its absolutely perfect. Pure perfection. I love all the car talk and street racing. As a girl growing up in a house full of car lovers, especially of the classics, I was in heaven with this book. Although I’m more of a Camaro girl myself. The strong friendship between Drew and Trent is enviable. They are so perfect together. Every fertile glance, eyes connecting across the room, gentle brushes of shoulders and legs, and the hot as hell exploration of ones own feelings and desires. #Junkie is one book you need to read. It hits some serious topics and struggles with ones identity.
I loved this book in case you didn’t realize that. Take a bow to Cambria Hebert for writing this amazing book. If you love m/m romance you need to read this book and I would suggest it to m/m virgins.
He was my person. The one I always wanted to be there.
There were quite a few reasons I was really excited about this book, even though I had never read a Cambria Herbert book before- it takes place in my home state, it’s about a race car driver, it’s m/m, it’s a friends-to-lovers story, which is one of my absolutely favorite romance novel tropes, and it released on my birthday!
I really loved riding alongside Drew and Trent as they navigated through this new aspect of their relationship. (race puns, I’ve got ’em) As they discovered the friendship they shared ran so much deeper than either of them expected. As they realized life wasn’t quite complete without the other one in it.
I don’t think I could choose who I loved more, Drew or Trent. They both are such sweet, engaging, endearing characters, with such different personalities. Drew is a little reckless, a free spirit, a complete adrenaline junkie. Trent is quieter, more self-possessed, a football playing frat boy. They complement each other so perfectly.
We fused together like two halves of a whole, bonded by want, inspired by need.
This book has a little bit of everything- it made me laugh, it made me swoon, it tugged at my heartstrings, and it left me NEEDING MORE!
***This is a crossover from the Hashtag series and can be read as a standalone. Characters from that series did come into play in this book but I don’t think you miss anything by not having read that series, as I haven’t yet. But I will be rectifying that after reading #Junkie!
