Kyle and Juniper really didn’t get along when this book started of course that all after him saving her. But, with her being a busy lady she didn’t really have time to deal with him and he well just found her a mystery. This book starts out good and continues throughout the story to stay entertaining and funny. The author did a great job and there really wasn’t anything I disliked about the book.
Juniper is a jr curator a museum in Michigan. When she first meets Kyle he rescues her from scaffolding. Kyle’s family owns the museum and he has just become the board president. Instant attraction but both fight that attraction. Can Juniper and Kyle work through their baggage in order to be together?
This was my first book by Sadia Ash and I am hooked. I immediately had to jump into book 2. I loved that Kyle was building his business and not just living off of his families money. Juniper is so kind to her family despite the fact that they don’t make her life easier. Love that the author has created a story that takes me on an emotional ride. Can’t wait to read more.
This is my first book by Sadia Ash, but it won’t be my last. I’ve seen that this is her first book, and if so, she did an incredible job and is an amazing writer. Juniper is a Jr Curator at a museum in Ann Arbor, MI. It is the annual fundraiser gala day, and she walks in one of the areas and finds the scaffolding still in place. She goes up, but falters in coming back down. Enter Kyle Castillo Nolan Paxton, who comes to her rescue. He is a billionaire and new president of the board of the museum, but Juniper believes he is with the caterer.
You feel the instant attraction and chemistry they both have right from the start. Kyle can’t keep his eyes off of Juniper the rest of the night. Kyle comes back for a meeting a couple of weeks later, and takes Juniper out to dinner. He then lays out his plan and contract, where he wants her to be his summer, and he will date her exclusively for 5 months, and then they say good-bye. Juniper wants nothing more than to date Kyle, but not on those terms. She wants him long-term.
Kyle has never given a person a second chance or negotiated terms in his personal or business life before. But he can’t forget Juniper, and is willing to spend time with her to see if she wants what he can offer her. There is a lot of going back and forth, and you learn a lot about what makes each of them unique and tick, and what is the root cause to their quirkiness. They both had unusual upbringings, and I believe that is why they are they way they are. They seem like the worst match ever, but in reality – they are a great match. They challenge each other to see things differently and balance each other.
I can’t wait to see how Book 2 goes, and I am pulling for them. I’m hoping Kyle will let Juniper know about his darkest day, and why he has decided he will never love again nor will he let someone be close to him to love him long-term. I’m hoping Juniper can get over being scared of men. So I will definitely be reading the rest of the series to see how it all pans out.
This is not your typical billionaire/alpha male, virgin book. These characters are so complex and have so many sides, quirks, OCD, and possible other known illnesses. I say pick this one up – and enjoy the ride/read.
Kyle is an Alpha, in a different way. He needs the structure to stay in control. He definitely seems pretty robotic in nature and admits that he is cold. I wonder if that is why reading this book was a little hard for me. He’s also crazy smart. He reminds me of Big Bang’s Sheldon, but he says things at times that Sheldon never would. Meeting Juniper and being attracted to her totally throws Kyle off. I think Juniper needs less structure, as she’s lived a pretty sheltered life. It’s fun to see her let go and try to live a little, as Kyle wants to bring her into his very meticulous world. I want to see where this path is going to take these two as they are starting to become less of their former selves.
This was a good read. There were parts that dragged on way too long and then the ending. Juniper didn’t show much commons sense towards the end but I will read the next book just to see what happens.
This book was Soo good I couldn’t put it down. It had you hooked until the very end
Juniper Smoke is the 1st book in the Smoke Series. Juniper is a Junior Curator at the Historical Museum of Ann Arbor, in Michigan. She is in charge of the annual gala at her museum. Her day js going great till she fi ds herself in a predicament. Kyle comes to the rescue. What Juniper didnt know was Kyle is the grandson of the person that the museum is named after. These 2 can’t stop thinking about each other. The chemistry is off the charts. Can’t wait to read book 2!
At first I had a hard time with all the numbers with Kyle’s quirk. I was hyper focused on those. Once I got to know him and what was going on I was able to deal with it lol. I liked how Juniper wasn’t focused on his money. She is a simple, intelligent girl. I’m excited to see what happens with their relationship next
Juniper Smoke brings us the story of Juniper and Kyle. She works in a museum, she’s a smart, sassy girls. Kyle is your hot alpha male, with a particular trait in his personality. Together they are a hot, sweet couple. Juniper makes Kyle’s world tumble a little and make him consider changing his ways.
Overall I really enjoyed this book, is just that sometimes I felt the story dragging a little with the hot and cold of their relationship. Other than that, pretty cool characters and story. Starting book two right away.
Holy wow! Juniper Smoke is a fantastic book. The author did an amazing job with the chemistry of the characters and bringing the storyline together! I have read book one and two in the Smoke Series and I cannot wait to see what will happen in book three and four. I’m officially hooked on this series!
This is my first book by this author and I can’t wait to read book 2. Honestly I have a lot of mixed emotions about this book. It was kind of hard to get into at first, a lot of repetition but I kept going. It gets better. A job well done to this new author, you throughly did your research on this one. A Recommended read.
When is the best time to meet and have a connection with a man…..when you are dangling 40 feet in the air from scaffolding!! Complete opposites, Kyle and Juniper make it work. Neither are looking for love, but love has a habit of being found in unusual circumstances. Can’t wait to read book 2!!
Juniper Mills is a junior curator at the Historical Museum of Ann Arbor. She spends her time at the museum or at home with her twin brother and has a feeling she will never find a perfect guy who will accept her and her family.
Kyle Castillo Paxton is a tech genius and meets Juniper when she needs to be rescued from the top of scaffolding in the museum. He is the newest member on the board due to his grandfather no longer being able to take on the position.
Juniper is as straight-laced as they come and Kyle is as far from it as you can get but there is something about each of them that the other wants to get as close to as they can. But when Kyle gives Juniper a contract will she run far away or will she try and live outside the box for once?
This was an interesting read with parts that made me happy and other parts that kind of made me a little sad.
I really liked Juniper and I felt like the world was on her shoulders. She had to support her brother and her mom and she lived a life that she could take care of them and not follow her own dreams and path. I loved her passion for Irish history and it was sad that she never had a chance to go there because of her taking care of her brother.
Kyle was much more mysterious and at the beginning I liked him and then I was mad at him with the NDA and then gradually I liked him again until certain parts where he made me so mad and frustrated. I kind of understood why he operated the way he did with the no attachments but you knew that right away Juniper made him alter things which Kyle struggled with. It was interesting to see Kyle’s relationship with his family members due to how he was raised.
I enjoyed watching Kyle and Juniper’s relationship evolve but I was definitely on team Juniper when it came to all of their interactions. I was super mad at Kyle at one point for flipping on Juniper and her lack of experience!
It was super interesting to have twists in the book with Izzy and Sylvia and how they created some tension in the book.
I am definitely curious to see where the book goes next as there is so much unfinished business!
I’ve had this book on my kindle for awhile before I started to read it,I wish i would of started this sooner. This was Sadia Ash debut novel, you wouldn’t think it was with the in deep characters,of Juiper and Kyle. I couldn’t put this down once i started. It won’t be my last from this author I can’t wait to see what book 2 has in store for me.
I enjoyed this book. It caused me to have so many feels, with its likable characters and how it was realistic. The plot was kept me wanting to know what was going to happen to these characters. This opposites-attract romance is always fun to watch as it plays out.
LOVED THIS SO HARD! The love between Juniper and Kyle is tenuous and fragile and so very delicate and each of them try to avoid it and try to destroy it in their own way (often without even realizing they are doing it). The story of them discovering each other and about each other and why they are the way they are is at times painful even for the reader. Its so nuanced that I’m hesitant to go in to too much detail because I’d hate to spoil it, but its definitely a MUST READ for any lovers of love, which most of us romance readers are at heart. This is part one of three and I look forward to the next.
Juniper meets a stranger in the most unique way. Who would believe what happens after that. This book keeps you guessing. I didnt see some of the twists coming. Cant wait to continue this story
4.5 Stars
Juniper Smoke is the first book in The Smoke Series, a take on the billionaire/virgin trope we’ve all read, but with an interesting twist. Both main characters, Kyle and Juniper, are damaged and mistrustful and have never had a loving relationship, due to issues having to do with their upbringing. The writing is funny, smart, and the witty comebacks had me laughing out loud several times. But there is a serious note to the story that will tug on your heartstrings, making you feel sympathy for both characters; there’s a reason behind their sometimes obnoxious behavior, due to the emotional baggage they both drag around. With a few devious secondary characters thrown into the mix, to stir up a little trouble, this was an entertaining read. All in all, I want to continue the story and see what happens between these two.
Juniper Mills, a Junior Curator at the Historical Museum of Ann Arbor, Michigan was a whiz at her job. She was admired by her peers, an expert in Celtic history, ran the annual fund-raising gala and was an admitted klutzy nerd. Oh, and at twenty-six, Juniper had never had a boyfriend and was still a virgin. Not for any other reason than her mother had projected her hatred and distrust of men, making Juniper think every man could be a potential serial killer. Mom had her reasons, a few that Juniper was aware of.
Kyle Paxton, at thirty-one, was a tech genius and the CEO of Birdseye, his million dollar business. The son of one of the Ann Arbor’s wealthiest businessmen, he’d started his company with his substantial trust fund, and was on the board of the Modern Museum of San Francisco, where he currently resided. He’s back in town for Thanksgiving and the annual get-together with his extended and dysfunctional family, and to attend a fund-raiser. Arriving early to the gala, the last thing Kyle ever expected was to rescue a quirky and interesting museum curator stuck on some scaffolding. After being amused by her, Kyle makes it his mission to get to know Juniper, and is surprised to like what he finds.
“I am a monster who uses people. What prevents me from being a complete demon is that I give my victims a choice. And I was clear to you from the beginning about what I was offering. Juniper, either you’re in, or you’re out.”
Kyle’s a busy man and has sworn off relationships. He came up with a plan for dealing with female companionship that has worked for him, until now. When Kyle tries suggesting Juniper consider his plan, he’s in for a rude awakening. He’s never met anyone like Juniper Mills before!
“You have to admit this is the ultimate irony. You wanted to chain her and keep her like a pet for a few months. But instead, she chained you.”
I heard a lot of chatter in our little romance book world, so I thought I would see what all the fuss was about. And I’ll admit right here and now that I’m kind of torn. Hang with me for a minute, would ya?
The writing was great. World-building was great, too. And for the most part, character development was good, as well. The story grabbed me from the beginning, and for a good part of the book, I didn’t want to put it down. But here’s where it just didn’t hit the mark for me. By about 3/4 of the way through the book, there seemed to be SO much back and forth on both Kyle’s & Juniper’s parts that eventually, the story lost its hold on me. Maybe it’s because I have SO much going on in my personal and professional lives right now that I kind of wanted it to be less can’t make up their minds. Or maybe it’s because I have a teen and a LOT of drama going on around my house these days. But the constant back and forth seemed more of a drain than a pull by the end of the book. And I really wanted to WANT to dive into the next 2 books. But at this point, I kind of don’t want to if the next 2 books are going to be like this. It just felt more like a soap opera than a romance series to me.
Now, if you love long, drawn-out drama, then this series will absolutely be something for you to grab and devour right now. But for now, I’m going to have to put the other 2 books on the back burner.
NICUnurse’s Rating: I’m only going to give my rating for this book, but one day, I hope to review the entire series, though. This book was a 3.5-star book for me. I really, really, really had hoped it would be a lot more.
Juniper Smoke was a good story it had a great story line and some intriguing and exciting characters. This was the first book by Sadie Ash and I found it to be well written. I enjoyed the story over all and will recommend this book if you love fun and entertaining characters who have a great chemistry. They have great dialogue and some really fun bantering. I think for me Kyle was probably my favorite character he is just so intriguing he is someone with some secrets and that just makes you want to find out so much more about him. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book can’t wait for more from this author.
