Miss Victoria Travers’s life was over. After being traumatized at the hands of a man years ago, she has secluded herself at Starcross Castle, helping her sister, Lady Mariah, raise her growing family. But being an aunt isn’t enough for Vicky. She longs for children of her own, but getting them means marriage, and marriage means making herself vulnerable to a man’s desires, something she swore … she’d never do again.
Sir Christopher Dowland is widely considered the most mild-mannered, bland gentleman in Cornwall and potentially the perfect husband for Vicky. But Christopher wants to be so much more than the underestimated country squire everyone supposes him to be. He sees himself as a champion of the rights of women, particularly on the eve of a game-changing vote on the Married Women’s Property Act.
Vicky and Christopher enter a businesslike engagement which seems as though it will lead to a boring, passionless marriage…until the two meet while in disguise at a masquerade ball, and everything changes. While Christopher knows full well who Vicky is, she is swept off her feet by the dashing and gallant mystery man who makes her smile, laugh, and feel free for the first time in years. But when their ongoing, masked flirtation takes a turn neither expect, Christopher could find himself both winning the girl and losing her forever….

Sir Christopher, Sir Christopher, what a sweetheart.
In love with Victoria Travers, Christopher will be whatever she wants him to be. Vicky loves children, but sees very little hope of having any. Three years ago a man she loved and trusted violated that trust. When Christopher proposes, Vicky says yes, but still has reservations. Tall, bumbling, socially inept around her, Christopher feels frustrated. When they both meet at a masquerade, the freedom to be themselves changes everything. Christopher faces two of his biggest challenges, winning Vicky and winning Parliament to pass THE MARRIED WOMEN’S PROPERTY ACT OF 1882.

Love the stories!. Need a little more steamy like the others. But I enjoyed..
What a wonderful period read. Vulnerable Vicky and shy Christopher were the perfect pair. Their journey was filled with such strife that it was bound to be filled with joy in the end. Great read.

The seventh book in The Silver Foxes of Westminster series. A well written story that deals with some interesting history The Married Women’s Property Act of 1882 became law in the UK on August 18, 1882 and how it might have come to be. This story drew me in from the very first page. This is Miss Victoria Alice Travers and Christopher Lionel Dowland’s story. Victoria was traumatized when she was younger and the only way she could cope was to believe a knight would become her savoir. But maybe she met a man who would become that for her. I enjoyed reading these two’s story. I recommend this book.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
June Forever
The Silver Foxes of Westminster book 7
by Merry Farmer
Wait is this the end of this AMAZING series! Well I guess all good things must come to an end and what an ending to the series!
Victoria Travers finally gets her happily ever after, experiencing a traumatic rape she wants nothing to do with men. But her life is missing something, she wants what her sister has being an aunt doesn’t cut it anymore. So when the opportunity arises in the gentle but often awkward and tongue tied – in front of women- soul of Sir Christopher she decides to take a Chance and agrees to marriage.
But things take a turn while both attend a masquerade and their masks give way to courage, courage to be the people they’re meant to be, will their love be jeopardized when all is revealed? What happens when the masks fall away?
This was an awesome series that I loved! The heat and sensuality was a slow burn and build as they got over their fears. Merry Farmer did an amazing job with this series. It’s a must read and I highly recommend all her work, you won’t be disappointed.
I received a complimentary copy from the author. This is my honest unbiased opinion.
This story goes to show that a hero does not need to be the most handsome, most charming and most debonair man….he just needs to be the most caring, gentle and honorable man! My heart went out to Sir Christopher Dowland, he’s so smitten with Miss Victoria Travers but every time he talks to her, he bumbles it all up and I must admit, I had quite a few giggles at his expense…but oh, how endearing he is!! Unfortunately, he gets himself in quite the situation with Victoria when they attend a masquerade ball and all it does is make her believe she’s in love with a charming knight. What follows reads like a comedy of errors before Christopher and Vicky find their HEA.
I also loved the political side of the story with the passing of the Married Women’s Property Act of 1882 law:)

This is a book worthy of more stars, but 5 stars is all that’s I can give it. From a traumatized past to a businesslike marriage arrangement, this book holds every emotion and so much more I couldn’t put it down! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. A must read, very good, enjoyable relaxing reading.
Vicky has had a rough few years after a terrible encounter with a man she thought would marry her. Her sister decides it’s time for her to move on and throws her together with the bumbling Christopher. The start out on shaky ground but Christopher will do anything, including being someone else, to make Vivvky happy. But when Vicky starts feeling conflicted between Christopher and her mystery man, Christopher will make a sacrifice so Vicky will be happy. A very entertaining story. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
I did not care for Victoria as the immature and annoying younger sister in Book 1 – December Heart. At the start of June Forever she seems to have matured. But as the story continues she again is rather flighty and makes some dumb mistakes.
Sir Christopher is painted as quite inept in his interactions with unmarried women; I was embarrassed for him with his blunders! And with him at the riper age of nearly 40, no less. But he has a true heart and is a very likeable character.
The story becomes a comedy of errors and missed chances when Vicky does not recognize him at a masked ball and Sir Christopher does not know how to reveal his identity to her.

After suffering a traumatic assault at the hands of a man she thought she was in love with, Miss Victoria Travers has spent the last three years in seclusion at her sister Mariah’s home, Starcross Castle, helping with her young niece and nephew. But soon the children aren’t enough and Vicky longs for children of her own, though she’s not sure she’s up for marriage and all that comes with it.
Sir Christopher Dowland is smart and a well-respected, elected member of Parliament, but Vicky almost immediately judges him to be a dull country squire. Mariah and her friends think he’d be the perfect husband for Vicky, but Christopher wants to right above the dowdy image most have formed of him, especially on the eve of an important women’s rights vote he is championing.
Vicky agrees to marry Christopher, but it’s a very formal arrangement that she’s not all that interested in. Then the two meet at a masquerade ball and Vicky is immediately swept away by a dashing and chivalrous knight straight out of the fairy tale fantasies of the girl she used to be. She finally feels free and like her old self from before the attack. Only, Vicky is the only one who refuses to see what is patently obvious to everyone else: her knight is none other than Sir Christopher.
By the time he realizes she really doesn’t recognize him, the time for Sir Christopher to reveal himself has passed and the pseudo flirtation continues as Vicky falls for her knight and Christopher seeks to avoid inciting her hatred for the inadvertent deception. Soon it seems all will be lost to him either way.
Victoria had some serious issues. She knew, or at least suspected, deep down who her knight truly was, but her trauma apparently caused a regression and she went right back to being a vapid, flighty miss though she swore she wasn’t that girl anymore. She really judged Christopher without giving him much of a chance. For his part, Christopher has always been overly tall and awkward, extremely lacking in confidence. This combined with his rapidly growing feelings for Victoria meant he wasn’t doing himself any favors. Thankfully, Victoria finally recognizes her own issues and flaws and makes an effort to change and truly see Christopher for the lovely man he is. I couldn’t stand her for much of the book, but her development in the final few chapters turned it around for me.

This is such a tender, heartwarming romance!
Sir Christopher is an honorable and valiant man, despite not being a smooth-talker. Victoria has serious reasons to avoid all men, but recognizing that marriage is inevitable, she accepts Sir Christopher’s proposal and braces herself for what comes next.
In the midst of her engagement, she meets a gallant knight at a masquerade ball who always knows exactly what to say to make her feel safe and secure, a feeling she hasn’t found anywhere else, not even with Sir Christopher. Her fiance is torn between wanting to give Vicky a safe place to heal from her recent trauma and wanting her to see him for who he really is. He allows the secret to continue for her sake, letting his patience rule his heart, giving her all the time she needs to sort through her fear and apprehension.
This is a sweet and tender romance, but also a story that deals with heavy issues without becoming heavy-handed. The author brilliantly encapsulates the healing process that victims go through, all while demonstrating the value of patient support and understanding guidance. It’s a story unlike any other I’ve read, and for that alone it’s a must-read for all readers of historical romance. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Victoria is flirting with unfaithfulness and looking for a little excitement after the trauma she endured (not that she did anything, not really a spoiler if you understand how historicals are written). Yes, I thought Victoria was a little fanciful in her whole demeanor regarding St. George but I think this story is really about Christopher. You know we all want a knight in shining armor, but that white knight can come in many shapes and sizes. Christopher is the white knight on his trusty steed who does not veer from his caring and devotion to Victoria. I love Christopher and every girl deserves a caring man like Christopher.
