He had a job to do. She had a home and livelihood to save. Could they even survive? Welcome to Highland County. Where we take our heroes seriously. James is a wild land firefighter tasked with getting one stubborn woman out of the path of the blaze. But when she refuses what can he do? He hates to see her arrested but if it’s the only way to save her life, he’ll do it. He’s trying to save not … trying to save not just her place but the entire town. Can he manage it?
Allison wasn’t about to leave the animals she’d come to see almost as pets behind to die. She wasn’t entirely stupid, she’d done everything she could to protect her little farm but with no way, nor time, to get the animals out, she was willing to die with them if that’s what it took. But that stubborn firefighter just wouldn’t leave her alone.
When the flames get even closer, sparks fly in more than one sense of the phrase. Can they make things work or was it just the heat of the moment?

Jumping Feet First by Melissa Stevens is a wonderful story that I have read. This is book number three in this wonderful series that I have really enjoyed reading fro the very begining. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about contemporary and small town romances in their stories.

Loving a firefighter is not easy. When things are tough, they are deployed to help someone else.
Summer? 10 weeks limited contact, though that is easier with contemporary technology.
So of course Ally falls for one who tries to get her to leave her stock behind.
City girl turned goat and sheep farmer, she never takes the easy route, which might just be perfect for the two of them.

This was a nice slow burn romance. The story centers around Allison, a sheep and goat rancher, and James, a wild land firefighter. Allison’s ranch is endangered by a local wildfire, but she refuses to leave her animals and has no way of evacuating them. James has been tasked with the job of getting her to evacuate. He is impressed with the measures she has taken to try to save her ranch and is thankful for them when they get trapped by the fire. The two begin a long distance relationship and fall in love.

Ally loves her life on her ranch with angora goats and merino sheep near Garrett, New Mexico. She’s invested everything but a wildfire threatens her livelihood. James is a firefighter assigned to help people who refused to evacuate before the Sheriff arrests them. He would rather be jumping behind the fire line. Even though she won’t leave, he respects the preventions she executed. As he returns to check on her, danger approaches. Melissa Stevens has written an exciting romantic adventure in her Highland County Heroes Series, which I recommend.

A cute quick read. I found the beginning dialogue a bit slow (when he first meets her), but it was a sweet read.

Ally is a sheep and goat farmer trying to prepare her property that may be in line to be hit by an uncontrolled fire. James has been sent to get her to evacuate to safety. Answer, no! She won’t leave her animals that are everything to her. He goes back again to convince her to leave. No! This time he is not able to leave and stays the night to help her. Now they have to examine the attraction between them. Very well written and a great, heartwarming story. Really enjoyed reading it.

She’s certainly smarter than he is.
Allison “Ally” Keeting is more than determined to protect her little farm in New Mexico from a wildfire. She’s more than well prepared and has thought of everything and every defensible method to protect her goats and sheep and barn.
Janes is sent in to evacuate her. He’s not the brightest and is dealing with his own issues of failure that he’s projecting on to Ally.
