*A friends-to-lovers story where the only way to keep their friendship intact may be to let it go.* Some lies are meant to deceive. Others to protect.I’ve kept my secrets hidden only to protect the one girl I love the most – Mica Reyes. The one I want as more than just a friend. But lies have a way of sabotaging your life and all they’ve done is pushed her away. Even when all I want to do is hold … pushed her away. Even when all I want to do is hold onto her for dear life.
Maybe I need to take a step back and let her go – like a fadeaway jump shot – before I hurt her and possibly destroy our love in the process.
**** Note: This book is a standalone read in the Courting Love companion series – a 5-book college sports series.
This book covers sensitive subjects such as drug and alcohol addiction, recovery and racism.

The feels, oh the FEELS!!!!
This is my favorite book in this series! I’m so glad Lance and Mica got their own story. I fell in love with Lance and “Georgie” . They start out as best friends who are so in love with each other, but Mica won’t succumb to Lance’s advances. with both of them dealing with their own family drama, it seems like they’ll never make it past making out with each other once in a blue moon. Mica doesn’t want to choose her love over her family, and Lance, poor sweet tortured soul Lance,,, This boy, broke my heart! The demons he faces inside of himself will gut you, and break your heart. I don’t want to give anything away, so I’ll just leave you with this,,,
This book is a MUST READ!! It will pull at your heart, make you cry, scream, and jump for joy! I truly loved this book so HARD!! I highly recommend it!!!
Such a beautiful story with an HEA
I received this ARC and I’m voluntarily leaving a review!
When I start a book by Sierra Hill I anticipate the most beautiful ache right in the depth of my heart. She weaves this tales around such complex characters I am left in awe and Sweet Little Lies did not disappoint. Instead I was overwhelmed by how much I loved this story.
I have loved Mica and Lance separately since the very beginning and now 3 books later their story is finally being told. Overwhelmingly beautiful and heartfelt. Sweet Little Lies will pull, twist, and stretch your heart strings to the point of snapping and then roll those feels up like a little bow. I am so I love with how Sierra Hill wrote this story and how she dealt with such serious problems such as racism and addiction. There is a real seriousness to this story and it’s characters. I feel their daily struggle to be who they were born as and to fight what they were born into. Everyone has a personal battle to win and I so enjoyed reading how these two learn to fight to be the best versions of themselves even when the one they are fighting the hardest is themselves.

JUMP SHOT

Jump Shot aka Sweet Little Lies is the final book in the Courting Love Series.
This book follows Lance and Mica’s friends to lovers story. Coming from different worlds these two find love.
I loved Lance’s perseverance. He never gave up on winning Mica’s heart. So much more emotions in this final book compared to the other ones but still just as great if not better.
I recommend this whole NA series. It had the right amount of angst, seeetness and steam. A definite must read!
I’ve read all the books of this series in a week and I’ve enjoyed every single one of them but Jump Shot is definitely my favourite.
My heart broke for these characters and I’ve cried more than once before the end but this is an unfogerttable journey.
Lance and Mica are friends with a serious attraction for each other.Mica came from an hispanic immigrant family and she feels the weight of the prejudices, and Lance seems like your typical college jocks, all fun and hook ups,but he hides some pretty dark secrets behind this “life of the party” persona.
Will Lance face his demons? Will they break down each other defenses in order to fall in love? You need to read this novel to find out.
I’m sad now that I’ve finished this series,I’ll miss these characters and I’d like to read another little epilogue for all of them to see how their happy endings are going on.
I’m really sad to say goodbye to this series, but this story was a great way to say goodbye.
We’ve known that Lance has some serious issues all the way through, and this story breaks them down in painful clarity. We do get to see him and Mica finally get together, and fall apart, and find their way back again, but of the series this is the most hard-hitting in terms of serious issues.
These characters are meant for one another but they both have things keeping them apart. Watching them work through the muck to find the truth is intense, and at times really hard to look at, but really well done.
Can’t recommend this series enough!
This is an excellent story in Sierra Hill’s The Sweetest Thing series. Mica is a girl from a big, Hispanic family who has fought hard to forge her own path. She’s a strong female lead who sticks to her guns and fights for herself and her family.
Lance is what makes this story. Lance, a college basketball star and notorious playboy, works hard to hide his darkness from everyone. He’s so broken and damaged that he can’t see that he is also goodness and light. He harbors all the blame and then he breaks.

When I decided to read and review Sweet Little Lies By Sierra Hill, I had no idea it was the 5th book in The Sweetest Thing Series!! However I’m very happy with my decision on reading and reviewing this book. We see the story of Lance and Mica and the demons they both face in their personal lives and in their relationship. Mica being a college student and of Mexican heritage follows her families wishes of not getting involved with an outsider, someone who is not of their ethnicity, but what happens when Lance wears down her defenses? Will she continue on the path her parents want for her or will she make her own? As for Lance, he’s your typical college athlete but he hides a piece of his past from everyone and why does his father seem to have so much anger towards Lance?
It’s not very often I find books with Hispanic/Latino characters but as I said I’m very glad that I took a chance on this book and on Sierra Hill! Can’t wait to see how this series begins because I’m planning on getting the other books in this series to read once I’m able to. I also can’t wait to read more of Sierra Hill’s books!!
This is a couple with some strength! Their story begins with their friends getting together, so they meet. Of course being the player that he is, he was hitting on her. He had been warned by his friends not to mess with her since she is in their social circle. They seem to keep ending up having make out sessions every now and then in the year and a half that they have been friends. Lance does like to party, and he comes with a lot of baggage. Things that Mica really cannot relate to. But can she handle dealing with the baggage he comes with?
This story is a great friends to lovers romance. They have very serious issues that they face as a couple. There was more than one point where I had to put my Kindle down because I couldn’t read through the tears…. Both happy and sad tears. I am not going to lie, I did get a bit mad at Lance for a couple things…but that goes with the territory. I have not read the other stories that came before this one, but I think I may be going back to get to know how these other couples got together.
Sweet Little Lies is hands down my favorite book of the series!! The story and characters were beautifully written, and I couldn’t help but fall in love with both Lance and Mica.
It was such a powerful, emotional, heartbreaking story – I connected with it on many levels and I believe a lot of other readers will too.
In my honest opinion, this is Sierra’s best work to date.
I have read one other book in this series before through netgalley. II have really enjoyed the books I have read. But why in the world have I not read the others! I need to get on that like stat.
This book is just so sweet and emotional. I just loved it. I couldn’t put this book down. From the start I got pulled into the story.
I really liked Lance and Mica. Lance is just so, well swoonworthy. Even if he is a stupid boy… Hes a total hot mess. They have issues and they have some hot chemistry. Both characters are wanting more, better. Are the issues worth facing to become more than just friends?
Lance just pulled at my heart with his secrets. He is just a beautifully broken guy.. And I really loved him.
All in all this is a really good college romance read. Its angsty, its hot, and it totally hooked me from the start. It is worth picking it up and giving this book a try.
We follow Lance Britton and Mica Reyes as they fight to find out what really matters and sometimes how when you love someone you must let them go in order to give them wings to fly. This was such a sweet romance that has twists that I didn’t expect. This is a must read series that I highly recommend. This is definitely an author to watch and follow.
Grab this book right away! It is hot, hot, hot. This is the first book I’ve read by Sierra Hill and let me tell you I’m getting the first four in this series a.s.a.p.! Lance and Mica have a beautiful story along with some conflicts. He is not self worthy and has a lot of emotional turmoil. She on the other hand wants to do right by her heritage and family beliefs. My husband is Mexican American and I am Caucasian. Boy did this hit close to home. I loved the story and the strength of the characters and would recommend this book to everyone.
I did receive and advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased opinion.
Little Red Riding Hood, meet the Big, Bad Wolf.
A really different pairing of a couple from wrong side of ………. ethnicity! This was my first book reading about a Mexican immigrant and I was wondering why hadn’t anybody written about it before. Micalea Reyes is a hardworking young girl from a Mexican immigrant family. A family that works together, takes care of each other and celebrates together, and also being at the recieving end of social prejudices, stays tight knit, doesn’t let their kids stray too far from their own kind. So what happens when Mica falls for a Gringo ?
Well at first it’s glares and death stares, but Mica has proven herself consistently, how she wants to carve a path for herself in this adopted land of opportunities!
Lance Britton is the college Basketball star who is surrounded by his own set of groupies
As a twenty-two-year old college athlete, I’ve had just about every type of woman there is. Tall, blonde Barbie Dolls, fun-loving sorority sisters, perma-tanned hoops hunnies, and every other college chick who wants to have some fun with a college basketball player.
And he has feelings for our dear Mica, only she is reticent. Because she knows the line that divides them is of culture, race, status and social standing. And never the twain shall meet
He was this untouchable basketball player who had swarms of groupies. And I was just… the daughter of a Mexican immigrant who had a crush on a unicorn of a man that she could never have.
But as Mica herself screams at times -“love is love, dammit! It doesn’t matter what skin color they have or who their parents are or where they met or what their ethnicity and culture is. It shouldn’t matter because if they are happy, that’s the only thing that should be considered.”
And that is how it should be,the book packs a powerful message of untainted love and kinship. Humans versus caricatures. Brotherhood versus prejudices
They defy all odds and hardships and yet are failed by Lance’s inner demon that is eating him alive, his failure to protect his brother and his inability to please his father and one more deadly secret !!!!
I liked the story , it was very real and very current. The writing is soooooo good! Characters are caught in turmoil and Mica is really sensible. Touched my heart in many places
4 “Estas Locos” stars
Angsty, at times heartbreaking, but utterly beautiful with real love and packed with emotion. Sweet Little Lies touches on subjects so many people hide from and brings them right to the forefront while delivering a love story that completely captivates. A beautiful blending of romance and real life Sweet Little Lies had me flying through the pages.
Lance was the epitome of a brooding hero. Flying high one moment, and dipping to the lowest of lows the next his secret struggles were heartbreaking. Despite that his love for Mica runs deep. Mica is a girl you can’t help but adore. Loving, strong, and kindhearted she’s exactly who Lance needs in his life. I loved how much of her family and culture played a part in their story, although sometimes teetering into a bit too stereotypical, it made her a much more real character. Together Lance and Mica make a couple you can’t help but love. I found myself frequently on the edge of my seat just rooting for them to overcome it all so they could get their HEA and was not disappointed.
3.5 stars
This is my first book from Author Sierra Hill and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I enjoyed Sweet Little Lies!
Love, loss, family, death and redemption are the struggles of Lance and Mica. Lance and Mica were very easy to relate to and there were so many issues the two had to work through. Lance is damaged but puts up a front that no one can see through. Mica has her only issues with her family and who they find good enough for their daughter.
When everything finally comes to the surface, Lance and Mica will have the fight of their lives on their hands.
Sweet Little Lies was a good friends to lovers romance that will have you on the edge of your seat!
