They say success is the best revenge. I say it isn’t enough. I’ve spent the last twenty years building my empire, but I’ll never forget the gutters I had to crawl through to get here. Or the enemy who made it that way. Kevin Cryson, the man who destroyed my life. It isn’t enough to build my own empire if I can’t crush his. Luckily, I’ve found his weak spot. The perfect lure in the form of a … own empire if I can’t crush his.
Luckily, I’ve found his weak spot. The perfect lure in the form of a brown-eyed devil with chestnut hair and a deviant smile. The princess he never should’ve let leave the castle.
They say revenge makes people bitter.
I’ve never tasted anything so sweet.
**Julius is complete story with a guaranteed HEA and NO cliffhanger. It is set in the same world as the interconnected standalone series Darker Places, but the series is not necessary to read in order to enjoy Julius. This book is a dark romance, and thus contains dark subject matter. Reader discretion is advised.**

4.5 scintillating stars for this novel in which revenge proves to be a dish in which the ingredients are hot enough to burn you if you don’t treat them with care. Expect the unexpected when you take on a strong, determined, intelligent woman like Laney. This is what Julius learns as the man of ice meets his match.
An intense read, with two stubborn people with hearts of gold, at its heart.
Revenge is always messy. Dark romance at it’s finest here. Julius has the wrong girl, but Laney is very stubborn and strong. Through what he puts her through and what information Laney finds out, had me on the edge of my seat the entire book. I love how the characters developed through the story. You will not be disappointed and you have the HEA everyone always wants. Plus more.

Loved this dark twisted tale.
Julius has waited twenty years to get revenge on the person he fee!s is responsible for ruining his life. He goes after the man’s daughter, only to end up with his ‘niece’ instead. Laney has no idea who the man that kidnapped her is, but she finds herself drawn to his dark tastes and she feels messed up about that. Julius plans to use Laney as part of his revenge scheme and then get rid of her, but doesn’t count on the fact that he might be drawn to her and the way she reacts to him. This is a wonderful dark, twisted romance and I highly recommend it!

Two Lost Souls …. Two Tortured People
This storyline is about lies, betrayal, humiliation and maybe, just maybe, redemption. When all comes out in the open, choices will be made. Minds will be changed and all those lies and betrayals will be exposed. And the collateral damage is off the charts. “Oh! What A Tangled Web We Weave When First We Practice To Deceive”
Julius is out for revenge. He’s plotted it, planned it and is ready to deliver it. Laney just wants her freedom. She’s been protected all her life…. in her eyes, over protected. Little does she know, it was for her best interest.
When Julius and Laney meet, it certainly isn’t love at first sight. Nope, forget that. Laney is his target …. well, Julius will settle for Laney as his target. It was a kidnapping gone bad. But, he will make due.
Problem is, Julius didn’t count on Laney’s feisty persona. Nor did he count on her being able to break down walls he had so carefully built up over the past 20 years. Yes, this revenge to take place was 20 years in the making. It started before Laney was born. It started with families deep within the criminal world. Families involved in just about every perversion you could imagine. Families that had to be stopped. And they were … they were stopped by one of their own.
Just who are the good guys here? Who are the bad guys? Can they be one in the same? Can the word ‘TRUST’ even be in their vocabulary?
OBSERVATIONS:
Wow…. this is a hard one. The storyline is good, the writing is good and I loved how the family ties were woven together. Good suspense, good plot and good character depiction.
So why the three stars? I gave five stars to the actual plot line and character development. But I gave one star to all the detailed kink. I don’t classify dark romance as smutty kink and torture. So, I found myself skimming way to much to get to the interesting parts of the story.
Loved the ending and loved the growth of the characters.
