Wow I love the fact that this book is. Dark read. This story may be long and a lot to process in the reading but well thought out and process to this amazing story.
This is my first book by Kailee Reese Samuels. It was a long one but it was worth the time to read. This story is about Iris. Iris’s husband passed away and she finds mysterious clues hidden by her husband so she decides to find out more about her husband. She’s led to a small town in Texas where Juliet Academy seems to lure her in. There she meets Salvatore Raniero a sexy alpha male in the BDSM world. I loved reading about Iris’s journey to discovering herself. The story takes you on an emotional roller coaster where Iris not only finds herself but she also discovers her husband’s secrets. Kailee Reese Samuels writing is captivating. The story line is well crafted and the characters are well developed. I am looking forward to reading another book by this author.
This book was unlike anything I have ever read. TBH I was hesitant at first because it’s different from what I’m use to but I’m so glad I decided to tackle this bad boy. Sal…oh beautifully broken Sal…at times I wanted to reach through the book and slap him but then I would turn the page and want to kiss the hell out of him. Iris had a lot thrown her way but I enjoyed the ride along with her. I also enjoyed meeting all the characters. This is a lengthy book but honestly I was too engrossed with the story to really notice. If you are looking for a great read that lives outside the box I recommend this one.
This is not a book for the faint of heart, and definitely not for under 18. This is a long book but worth every minute! I love love Sal and Iris and hope to see more of them. The only problem I had with this book was the flashbacks are sometimes long and drawn out. I can’t wait to read the next book Kailee Reese Samuels!
Very confusing! Grammatically inferior, typos, very distracting. had to keep re-reading sections just to understand. All the drama between the various characters made me want to jump into the story and kick them. too many characters, in my opinion. However, this writer shows some talent and imagination, but my advice: get some new and/or different beta readers, and make sure they are honest with you.
Ugh – what a confusing mess! The author uses half-sentences, often skipping verbs, so my brain was constantly struggling to fill in the right word. She also uses huge words, many that I looked up to verify they were actual words. To my surprise, some actually fit the context. I have a great vocabulary, so it’s been ages sine I actually had to look a word up, and I did here about every 20 pages. The words used were often not in context and also because I had to wonder what that word meant, it’s distracting from the story. Maybe that a good thing though, because the story was the biggest part of the confusing mess. The Hero and Heroine love each other, they say, but they never get together in any meaningful way. They both sleep around like crazy, and rarely with each other, but a huge part of the word is the author ‘saying or telling’ you how much they love each other. Then there is this absurd subplot that pops up about halfway through the book, that there is some vague hinted-at conspiracy that the heroine’s dead husband may not really be dead, and the hero is some kind of secret agent or ‘special forces’ dude who is assigned to protect the heroine. None of the story holds any emotional honesty for me. There are some hot sex scenes, but the actions of everyone in this story are so confused and unbelievable, this was no compensation. All in all, this story was irritating and confusing. This author is a complete no for me.
Honestly, not my type. I kept reading waiting for the plot to go somewhere, but it seems that it just keeps leading to the next book in the series. Iris comes across as juvinile and I keep thinking that I missed done giant part of the plot… Maybe in a different book?
I DNT this book. I just couldn’t get into this. It is very dark and twisted. Just not my normal read.
I was disappointed that it was a cliffhanger
Boring, long-winded and never finished it.
Iris has lost her husband Chance, her entire world, as she says “I am going to be in love with you regardless of the cover of your book for the rest of my life.” *swoon*. That alone is but one exemplary sentence in the beauty that is Samuels’ writing.
Chance leaves behind a key, that takes her to a house in Sugargrove, Texas. Which upon arrival walks Iris into an entirely new world in Juliet, an academy for those seeking to learn submission and the world beyond the vanilla lifestyle. This is all more than Iris could have ever imagined, her entire marriage was shrouded in secrets and her world implodes. Entire Salvatore Raniero.
Occasionally in life, we come across someone, who with just one look, will immediately take a piece of our heart. No matter the hurt or the distance, they will always carry that piece with them, like a prized possession. This is Iris and Sal. Whatever it is they want of each other, it cannot happen until each of them find their true selves. Even if it means tearing each other apart in the process. As Samuels writes: “Unfortunately for both of them, they were both blinded by their stubborn streaks to see the magic of what existed between them.”
The story of Juliet is so much more than just Iris and Sal. There are many people that play a key role in Juliet, who come together to make a merry band of misfits family. Acceptance and love are at the heart of this family. Samuels has created an entire world in Juliet, with so many rich characters, the possibility to follow each of them can create an entire mini-library for the reader. As is evident in her author profile, such worlds are being created. Juliet is not a quick read, there are 654 pages that introduce us to an entirely new world that is above and beyond what most of us could ever dream. There is so much beauty, eroticism, and heartbreak in Juliet, it’s more than just a book, it’s a world that begs to be delved into.
I absolutely love these characters & the way Kailee Reese Samuels writes. This is a BDSM adventure like none other!
Didn’t even finish it, to many intertwining plots. This book should’ve been divided into several, shorter books in order to better go into the character storylines better. It jumped from one place to another, leaving me confused and very unfilled.
This was completely discombobulated and way too long. There was a good story in there somewhere but there were WAYYYYYYYY too many subplots and distractions to get to the main event.
It was poorly written
Over 550 pages long and it ends on a cliffhanger. What a waist! The characters are immature, promiscuous, brats. Characters and plot lines were added with not ties. It quickly became frustrating and annoying. The whole thing is an emotional reck.
This is one of those books that is so hard to review because there is so much going on. This is a big book, a long read and a lot of different characters and material so get ready for a ride. This is about a young widow named Iris Kettles and her wanting answers about her husband. Her journey takes her to Texas where she discovers Juliet and her need for answers but also finds herself intrigued by this kinky world and a sexy badboy named Sal Raniero. Their attaction is electic and as much as they try to fight it they are drawn to eachother which could also be deadly. Follow Sal & Iris on this unforgettable journey and their search for a HEA!
This book took me awhile to read. It was a good book and I knew what to expect when reading it. Just like when I read any BDSM I have to stop and take a break and read a book between this book. But I enjoyed the story. This is my second novel I have read by Kailee Reese Samuels
Good characters, but not for those who don’t like lots and lots of sex scenes
A very complex read, it was a little daunting at times to wrap my head around what I was reading. I will say, however, that this must be read, word for word. With the main character being Iris and this story is hers, the other characters and their POV’s make the book just that much better. There were many facets interwoven together to make this a truly remarkable read.
