I have owned every copy since I got married over 40 years ago.
I even took it on the boat with me around the world.
This is a basis to start you cookbook collection! The cooking Bible!
The cooking bible with how to for basic to complex. Combined with James Beard American Cooking, you can making anything!
Great cook book for the basics of everything about cooking
A wonderful cookbook. It has recipes for the foods that you love, information about them, how to serve them. Loads of information about the ingredients you use and how them interact with each other. If you can have only one cookbook, this is the one. I learned how to cook with this cookbook. I now have three updated editions including the most recent one.
Great recipes! I’ve made several, all turned out well.
When I decided that I wanted to expand my cooking beyond the grill, I needed more of a general guide with a broad spectrum of recipes and instruction that a novice could understand. This gave me just that! I now have 30+ cookbooks, but I still feel that this is one that every kitchen should have. I give it 4 stars rather than 5 because there are some recipes I’ve prepared that I didn’t like as much as some of the others I own. Nonetheless, I think it should be in every kitchen. Recommended!
I learned to cook from this book fifty years ago and they just keep updating it! Must have in the kitchen.
Excellent beginners book for those who know little or nothing about cooking, as well as a solid reference book for more experienced cooks. I have a 30 year old copy I still use. Well worth purchasing.
If you get this book, you will be able to delete at least 2 1/2 feet of cookbooks from your collection. A wonderful compendium of excellent recipes, cooking techniques, and historical info on the origins of many great American Recipes!
I have used this cookbook for over 50 years!
Great recipes!
This is a good book to teach basic cooking techniques. A good book for beginners.
A classic updated for cooks who want to add to their repertoire of specials.
A cookbook bible.
I think of this as a three-volume cookbook series. (I can’t recommend the lemonade recipe in the first two – way too much sugar!)
If you can only afford one cookbook, this is a great resource. Not only does it have simple easy to follow recipes, but it has instructions for food prep, etc. I bought mine 30 years ago and it was a lifesaver for a new bride.
Definitely worth buying and keeping on your cookbook shelf.
The BEST cookbook ever written. A must for everyone who loves to cook.
