One of the most well-known and loved stories of Jesus’s ministry is the encounter with the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well. Now the creative mind of Diana Wallis Taylor imagines how the Samaritan woman got there in the first place. Marah is just a girl of thirteen when her life is set on a path that will eventually lead her to a life-changing encounter with the Messiah. But before that momentous … momentous meeting she must traverse through times of love lost and found, cruel and manipulative men, and gossiping women.
This creative and accurate portrayal of life in the time of Jesus opens a window into a fascinating world. Taylor’s rich descriptions of the landscapes, lifestyles, and rituals mesh easily with the emotional and very personal story of one woman trying to make a life out of what fate seems to throw at her. This exciting and heartwrenching story will fascinate readers and lend new life to a familiar story.

Tragic life of a young woman who made ytthe best of her situation. Then met someone who changed her life.
I like the era of biblical times. Historical.
The main character was very likable. Of course the ending was wonderful but I had a problem with one husband being gay. Does a Christian bookhave to jump on the bandwagon of including this kind of storyline into the book?
Good story
What let the woman to the well? Why was she so excited when Jesus knew everything about her? He wasn’t shaming her. He knew her pain. He identified with her and His love transformed her. Unique and plausible take on what let her to the well with interesting characters and historical setting. Enjoyable and inspiring read.
Enjoyed this book . gave me something to think about. The way the woman at the well could have had 5 husbands and the one she was with was not her husband.
Very well written fictional account of story in Bible that I’ve often thought of before. I like the way the writer brought the story to life in those times and created an account very realistic. It made me think how we too often judge a person before really knowing what they’ve been through.. I would highly recommend to those interested in …
I loved the imagination! Taking what we know of the history and practices of the time and coming to a scenario of what her life may have been like to bring her to the point of encountering Jesus. I couldn’t put it down!
The book depicts a possible background story involving the Samaritan woman who met Jesus at Jacob’s Well in Samaria. Historical fiction.
What a wonderful gift you have as an author. I will definitely read your other books.
I like the fact the author included some Bible passages to strengthen her plot. Although based on a true story, this is a work of fiction that gives us a story to go along with the passage in the Bible where the Samaritan meets Jesus. Well thought out!
I love the theme of this book. I know it is all opinion but when we read the Word about someone, we wonder what their back story is. Maybe it is more truth than we really know. I love clean stories without all the foul language.
Love stories based on real events in the Bible…makes me considrer “what if” that’s how it happened….This one was interesting, lots of plot twists I’d never considered!
A sympathetic treatment of a Biblical enigma. Though fictional, the story brings us a relatable character caught in cultural and circumstantial hard places that ultimately bring her to the well com which we all yearn to draw.
Very inspiring
Another great book by Diana Wallis-Taylor! I love the way she makes Biblical figures come to life. It definitely makes their stories more inspiring.
