A fiancée fabrication might just save her life… favor for a soldier friend? No problem. A pretend engagement? Okay, it’ll allow him to assess his future. Hands-off? Sure, he’ll treat Ashley like a sister.
After his first glimpse of his temporary fiancée, Josh admits he’s in trouble, and suddenly this easy assignment is a mite trickier. Soon Josh is dealing with the stalker, protecting his sexy and smart fiancée, and his heart is on the line. The press is asking nosy questions, the gap between pretense and reality is blurring, and Josh is wondering if granting his friend this favor is such a bright idea.
You’ll love this romantic suspense because it features an intelligent heroine and a protective soldier determined to keep his lady safe. Oh, and a little of New Zealand politics for spice and seasoning.

A really intense fake engagement romance.

That is until she gains a stalker who is bent on really hurting her. This is where Josh comes in as her fake fiancee/bodyguard. But what started out as being a fake relationship quickly evolves into something very real. Now Josh just has to keep Ashley alive to achieve her dreams.
This is the fifth book in the Military Men series and can be read as a standalone but does have revolving characters so it’s better when its read in the order it was written.

She has always dreamed of becoming the prime minister of New Zealand and with a career in politics, Ashley Townsend is well on her way to achieving that goal until a stalker threatens her life. After retiring from the military, Josh Williams is taking some time off so he has no problem helping out a soldier friend but the keeping his hands off of Ashley and treating her like a sister might be a more difficult. A fiancée fabrication may just save her life, but the press is asking nosy questions and the gap between pretense and reality is blurring.
This ‘Military Men’ romance is an awesome romance with thrilling suspense and an engaging plot that has readers trying to discover just who the culprit is before Josh and Ashley do. The chemistry between Josh and Ashley is electrical and the attraction is magnetic but the feeling they are having for each other is causing some problems as Ashley’s brother has told Josh to keeps his hands off and Ashley has nosy reporters following her around which could cause problems with her political aspirations.
The plot is fast paced with lots thrills and some unexpected twists that keeps the readers engaged with trying to answer all the questions revolving around this stalker and just why he has targeted Ashley. Nothing is quite what it seems, readers can’t help but be surprised at the revelations and only two things are for certain in this romance – Josh and Ashley make the perfect couple and readers can’t help but enjoy this entertaining and suspenseful read.
Ashley is in politics and currently running for the job of Prime Minister of New Zealand. But there is one major problem. She has a stalker. Her brother, who is currently serving in Afghanistan, sets her up with a mate of his who has left the army to act as her bodyguard. But Josh is warned to keep his hands off Ashley or else. There is danger everywhere from this stalker. Can Josh keep her safe? And what about the intense attraction between them? Will they ignore the warning from Ashley’s brother? Fabulous. Just fabulous.
Book five of the Military Men series a well written mystery. Ashley Townsend has wanted to be the prime minister of New Zealand since she was five. She is in the running and has gotten a stalker her brother Matt hires Josh Williams to pretend to be her fiance. There is suspense, drama, danger, a villain, romance, and a surprise from her brother at the end.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Ashley’s running for political office, but she has a stalker. Her brother Matt arranges for his friend Josh to provide security for her, under the guise of being her (fake) fiance. Holy cow – what a hot book! The suspense started at page one, with the romance not far behind. These two want each other so bad it’s not funny – their chemistry is just off the charts. Josh doesn’t want to ruin his friendship Matt, but Ashley doesn’t care what Matt thinks. I could never decide who the stalker was – the plot just twisted and turned so much, and it could have been anyone. This is my first read from this author, and honestly, I’m not quite sure why this is – I’ll certainly be looking for her in the future.

Ashley is in the running for her political party to win the next election and she could be the next Pm (I am lucky as an Aussie we have a similar political system so I understood how this worked USA readers may need a lesson on the Westminster system) She has also managed to pick herself up a stalker. Her brother Matt asks a fellow military man who is retiring to help him by keeping an eye on Ashley. Josh isn’t sure what he wants to do now that h sis n longer military but he can pretend to be Ashley’s fiance while he decides that will be easy That is until he meets his new fiance and realises that his heart may be in danger This is another great fun read in this series There is enough suspense and drama to keep you engaged but a wonderful underlying romance
I’ve read quite a few Shelley Munro romances now and have yet to be disappointed by any of them. You can count on each to bring something different but entertaining that will keep you turning the pages and hating to put the book down until it’s finished. Josh and Ashley’s story is another along that line. In this story, Ashley is running for political office in New Zealand. There is some background about how New Zealand politics work, but not enough for me, as an American, to have an understanding of more than a bare minimum at the end of the story. It didn’t get bogged down in extraneous details. Yes, Ashley was running for public office, but the story was Josh and Ashley’s romance and the mystery surrounding her stalker.
Taking time to read this book was definitely a great way to spend my day.

This has it all. Very intense suspense, action-packed and with wonderful characters. For a politician she is very frank, brave and upfront. Josh is just (fan yourself) alpha male, her brother is hilarious and adds humor to the story. Josh sister is very practical, supportive and up-front as well. Bad things happen to people that seem un-explainable, this time there’s obviously a vindictive plan but who’s playing the dangerous game wrecking havoc in the lives of these good people? I found the New Zealand tidbits very informative. I enjoyed reading this & love the surprising twist at the end. Full of mystery, and danger until the culprit was caught!

Ashley was a member of Parliment and aiming for re-election when she became the focus of a stalker. As a promise from an army buddy, Josh who had just finished his time in the service soon become her fake fiance and her round the clock security. Ashley, was a beautiful, confident, young woman who wanted the best for her country and did not deserve to suffer the harrassment of a violent stalker. There was an attraction between them from the beginning and the more time they spent together the stronger it became. The suspense of dealing with an unknown stalker made this book full of mystery and danger before the man was finally caught and the focus returned to the lovers romance and happy ending

Josh has just retired from the military. Matt a friend in the military asks Josh to pretend to be engaged to his sister Ashley because she has a stalker. Ashley has a career in politics. She has no idea why someone would be stalking her. The lines begin to blur between them and Josh will do anything to protect her. I really enjoyed this book.
Very Good Story – It has a good blend of romance, not too detailed sex and mystery. It shows a fascinating side of New Zealand politics and it’s much different than the U.S. in the treatment of women. It seems the men there are not scared of having a woman in charge. I like how the author incorporated serious issues of same-sex relationships, mental health, women as leaders, bullying without eclipsing the relationship between Josh and Ashley. It is a well-crafted story. [I received an advanced copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.]
What was supposed to be fake turned into admiration and love. The storyline is enthralling and engrossing. Suspense the mystery of who and why the intermingling of romance between two people you never thought would be a perfect match, I just loved it. A very well written story that really peaks the imagination.

Three and a half stars.
I enjoyed the characters in this book but the story is one that is used too much. Hot guy protecting gorgeous woman at her brother’s request. He’s not supposed to touch her. The chemistry between Josh and Ashley is immediate. I love it that she is the top politician in her party and a strong female. She has a stalker. Some of the scenes with the press are sadly accurate. The story is well written but I would have liked a little more variation in the plot.

Ashley somehow developed a stalker. A politician inNew Zealand, she was campaigning for re-election. Given the right votes, her party might be part of a majority, and she could end up prime minister.
A mysterious stalker scared her senseless though. Cops seemed not to take the threat too seriously- or they had little actionable information. In the end, her brother Matt, known to his military brethren as Frog, asked his about to be out of the service friend Josh to step in as her faux fiancé in order to stay close and protect her.
Will this so called engagement end in disaster? Deaths? Could Josh and Ashley realize the truest thing of all: a love that has potential to last?
Intense action adventure and romance!

Military Men #5
This is book 5 in this series but can definitely be read as a stand-alone. Josh and Ashley’s story has just the right mixture of suspense and romance. Of course their chemistry could light up the darkest night.
