Most men can’t handle Hazel. With the energy of a toddler and the mouth of a sailor, they’re often too timid to recognize her heart of gold. New York Times and #1 international bestselling author Christina Lauren (Roomies, Beautiful Bastard) tells the story of two people who are definitely not dating, no matter how often they end up in bed together. Hazel Camille Bradford knows she’s a lot to … Hazel Camille Bradford knows she’s a lot to take–and frankly, most men aren’t up to the challenge. If her army of pets and thrill for the absurd don’t send them running, her lack of filter means she’ll say exactly the wrong thing in a delicate moment. Their loss. She’s a good soul in search of honest fun.
Josh Im has known Hazel since college, where her zany playfulness proved completely incompatible with his mellow restraint. From the first night they met–when she gracelessly threw up on his shoes–to when she sent him an unintelligible email while in a post-surgical haze, Josh has always thought of Hazel more as a spectacle than a peer. But now, ten years later, after a cheating girlfriend has turned his life upside down, going out with Hazel is a breath of fresh air.
Not that Josh and Hazel date. At least, not each other. Because setting each other up on progressively terrible double blind dates means there’s nothing between them…right?

I think I have a new favorite author. I loved this one just as much as Love and Other Words. Maybe more. Probably more. I’ll be tearing through the back list soon…even the alpha books. I don’t even care. And apparently I like romcoms now. Who knew?
A charming and funny friend to lovers romance with self-aware characters who refuse to pretend to be anything but who they are as they go in search of their happily ever after.
4.5 “you’re my best friend” stars
I really liked this one. Hazel was the star of this book for me. She was quirky because that was just her personality, not just quirky for the sake of being quirky. Not that I didn’t like Josh, because I did, but without Hazel Josh was just sort of a normal guy. I loved their history and the progression of their relationship. I laughed many times. I was pulled in by the story and thoroughly enjoyed it…all except for one development towards the end that completely blindsided me. I don’t think it was necessary and am a little put off that it was thrown in there but I still loved the story regardless.
One of the Best Books of 2018
I loved this book. I’d love to be friends with these characters and meet them for a fun night out!
This was an entertaining read, about a romance between a crazy, original and sweet heroine and a smart and conservative hero.
This hands down was my favorite Christina Lauren book to date! I loved Hazel’s character. She was so funny, quirky and you couldn’t help but love her. Josh was cute, reserved and all around good guy. This was the perfect story of opposites attracting. I loved the build up, the story, the characters and I loved that their wasn’t any over the top drama. This story had a very realistic feel with relatable characters that you can’t help but love. Another thing I liked was that the hero Josh was Korean. It’s very nice to have some diversity in my reads. If you are new to Christina Lauren you will not go wrong with this title!
I was surprised to like this as much as I did. I was ready to write it off as plain old chick-lit but it kept me entertained and loving the characters.
I loved everything about this book! It’s funny and sweet and endearing and sexy!
I LOVED this book! These two characters were so wonderful and their relationship was the best. I definitely recommend this book and these authors. It is a must read!
I love the characters. Hazel is an adorable hot mess. You can’t help but love her.
This is such a sweet and quirky romance that will make you laugh out loud and the antics of the two main characters. Hazel and Josh are total opposites, but they become the best of friends when Hazel becomes his temporary roommate. Right from the first chapter you can tell that Hazel will having you non-stop laughing at her because her personality has no filter. She reveals all her embarrassing moments in college when she first encountered Josh. Hazel developed a crush on him during that time but all he saw was an awkward girl with the tendency to embarrass herself or say something crazy. Until the moment he sees her again and they of course start hanging out more does he see her in a different light. When they realize they like hanging out with one another they set each other up on dates and that is where the story gets even funnier. I think they were choosing the wrong people subconsciously because their dates weren’t turning out so good. I love them both because at first the attraction on Josh’s side isn’t so obvious but on Hazel you can tell she still has a crush. I love the fact that it’s a gradual love story and it is so sweet and gets hot towards the middle. Their chemistry is a slow burn and the romance is never overshadowed. I love their interaction and the supporting characters make the book even funnier because some of the are quirky and can take Hazel’s exuberant personality. If you need a good laugh check out this romantic comedy, you will not go wrong.
This was my favorite Christina Lauren book so far. I listened to an audio version of this book, narrated by Todd Haberkorn and Jayme Mattler, and it was such a fun book to listen to. Hazel was delightfully quirky and so joyful that her joy just bubbles out everywhere. Josh is loveable and stable. The way they balance and understand each other is everything.
This book was so cute! I’ve never read these authors before but it was all over face book so I had to get it. Hazel is the most whimsical character I’ve ever read her take on life is fantastic and she’s so eccentric but she knows it and won’t settle for being anyone but herself.
After many attempts over the years to get Josh’s attention she just decided it never will happen. But when they re connection they decide to just be fiends.
With no plans to date just try to be fiends they have some awesome adventures and both re think the possibility of being more but does the other feel the same?
I loved everything about this book and the writing style I could not put it down.
In this comical tale about friends not dating each other keeps you turning the page to see what happens next.
Terrible and overrated. Couldn’t finish it. Not sure if I can read anymore from these authors.
Wonderful book. Great writing and I adored both characters.
Hilarious and heartwarming, this book shot to the top of my Best Reads of 2018 list. I adored it.
Hazel stands as one of the. most unique characters I’ve read, and of course I instantly fell in love with Josh too. And the love scenes…oh my! These two were meant to be together 🙂
Omg this was so much fun! I want to be Hazel when I grow up. I love how she’s all, what you see is what you get and I’m never changing. I love her. Josh is equally as awesome too. I loved how Hazel’s energy or her eccentricities didn’t even bother him. It’s just Hazel. Such an amazing book. I need this one for my bookshelf. This is definitely worth a reread!
