Joseph King is an assassin. He’d just unpacked his bag from an assignment he probably shouldn’t have survived. Life as an assassin comes with an expiration date. Sooner or later your competition or your target will get lucky. Out of spare lives, Joseph knows it is time to hang it up and walk away while he still can. Best laid plans, right? Joseph…Fury…Joseph…Fury…
I don’t care WHAT you call him…he’s the Alpha man to end all Alpha men!!
Tho, let’s not overlook his gooey center where, Ember, his first love from childhood has resided since first laying eyes on her. But his life…his work…his job doesn’t allow for relationships.
So what is he to do when she calls, tells him she’s scared for her life, and needs his help??
You MUST read this series. This King family is simply…DELICIOUS.
And Joseph, Book 2, is just as good as Jacob in Book 1. Read On & Enjoy people!!!
I really liked Joseph and loved how we were able to see the softer side of him that he only showed to Ember, while the rest of world saw the deadly killer known as Fury. He’d been protecting his family and friends for so long, and had just started realizing how lonely he was when his first love called him for help.
Ember was a great character. She was strong and passionate and never once doubted that Joseph would take care of her. Even when she discovered he was an assassin, Ember’s love and faith in her Joey never waivered.
I wasn’t a big fan of the “little girl” nickname but it was easy enough to overlook. Doc and Keelee’s book is next, and I’m curious to see how that works out.
I have a soft spot for Jared, but Joseph is my favorite King!!!
I’m totally hooked on this fantastic series filled with twists and turns, murder and mayhem, secrets and lies and protective alphas and the feisty women who they fall for. Loved it!
Joseph is the second Kings of Guardians book. It is loaded with action, danger, suspense and plus plenty of steamy romance.
“…he was the epitome of everything she wanted desperately to avoid. Drama, stress, anxiety, and fear. Yet, he was everything she needed. Strength, loyalty, kindness, and compassion.”
I think I can safely say that after reading only two books in this series so far, I’m completely addicted! Can’t wait to start book three.
“…life isn’t about the millions of breaths you take. It’s about the individual moments that take your breath away.”
-5 stars-
I am new to the Kings of Guardian Series but after reading Book 1 I knew I had to continue. Joseph and Ember’s story is darker. Teenage sweethearts who come back together as adults when Ember finds herself in a situation set up this storyline. I don’t think she expected her “Joey” to be a highly-skilled assassin. Danger, intrigue, action, murder, romance, and disturbingly hot sex makes this book a must-read.
Loved this story. So much angst. So much love and insight into the dark side of the guardian operations. Loved the relationship between ember and Joseph. That has been in the works for the last 16 years. Knowing each other as kids ember contacts him when her friend is murdered for information she was given that is linked to a cartel and very powerful people. Joseph just back from a mission he barely survived drips everything to help and save her. You get a little dark romance/dom sub sexual encounters. Not wholly but more along the lines of him liking rough highly controlled sex. Must be his way of coping from his stress filled life. Loved this book. Sad Kee wasn’t there in the end especially since she and ember were besties basically. Such a cliff hanger of omg proportions in the epilogue. Can’t wait for Docs book.
I was riveted to this book in the first two paragraphs and the intensity did not lessen much throughout this book. I think that I held my breath through at least one quarter of the book. Absolutely captivating! Joseph “Fury” King is dark, lethal, a wraith. He was absolutely fascinating to me. So complicated, yet his love for Ember Harris is all consuming. I loved Ember’s fiery ginger personality and her take no prisoners attitude. She was Joseph’s perfect match. I must confess that I shed tears several times while reading this romance because of the deep emotions Kris Michaels evoked with her words.
Like all the others it was a wonderful distraction
