JordanThis story isn’t about love, like, lust, or a happily ever after. This story, my story, is about struggle, pain and suffering. Fighting to stay afloat while being pulled under by what feels like the murky and powerful undertow of the ocean. Fighting for strength I so desperately need when all I am feeling is desolate and weak. I’m a girl who exudes hatred when a normal girl of my age and … and pedigree should be the picture perfect portrait of love.
Alcohol consumes me. Drugs numb me. Sex for money feeds the hollow abyss deep within me. How does a soon-to-be twenty-five year old escort turn her life around when the last several years of her life has been spent traveling down a very dark path?
The Shadow
She became my obsession, my every thought. She is the reason I wake up in the morning, plotting, scheming, exacting a revenge she so desperately deserves. But will she take my offer once she learns my true identity; sees the darkness within me, or will she hate me for lying to her all of these years, leading her to lose herself to the drugs and alcohol that have kept her ghosts at bay? Will she be my Precious?

Jordan’s shadow is a dark, psychological romantic-ish thriller. Jordan’s life has been anything but a fairy tale. She’s been through more by age 17 than the majority of adults that exist. The Shadow (Hunter) is obsessed with Jordan and is deermined to save her. This “love” story will take you on a wild run and leave you shocked and awed.
Oh my goodness, this book, y’all. Such an emotional rollercoaster. I needed approximately an hour to process everything. I love it, 10/10, would recommend. If you are 18+ and want a twisty turney novel, this is for you!
WOW! I was truly impressed with this book! Jordan’s Shadow by T.R. Cupak is about Lezleigh Fillmore AKA Jordan Smith. Lezleigh was a privileged girl who after her father died, lived with her “mother” and then also her step-father. One night, things went too far with her step-father and his associates and from then on she was Jordan a poor girl fighting with addiction to forget that tragic night. Hunter Knight or “The Shadow” was a client of Jordan’s and has been one for the last 3 years. Even though Jordan hasn’t ever seen him she is intrigued and a bit in love with him. Hunter has ulterior motives though. He knows who Jordan is, is in love with her and wants to seek out revenge for her. So he sets course to make that happen for her. This story is all kinds of messed up but it makes for a seriously good book. This story was written so well that I did not want to put this book down! You feel so broken hearted for her and want to help fix her. However, she ends up finding herself in the end. This book is also very empowering. Now, the sexy scenes in the book are very yummy and very hot! I love the connection between this couple along with Monte, their bodyguard. This book is all about revenge and self-preservation. I would absolutely recommend this book to someone and cannot wait to read more from this author! 5-Stars
My rating: 4 of 5
As the description states, “This story isn’t about love, like, lust, or a happily ever after. This story, my story, is about struggle, pain, and suffering.”
TW: this book depicts and talks about abandonment, abduction, addiction, adultery, depression, murder, prostitution, rape, self-abuse, and suicide (this list is in alphabetical order, not in order of relevance).
While I am a fan of the dark romance genre anyways, I really enjoyed this book, not because of the romance, but because you travel along with Jordan as she starts to confront her demons; mental and external. You also see how one event can impact a person’s life and the repercussions it has in the years to come (yay psychology!). There is of course sexual encounters between Jordan and her Shadow, but it’s not your typical romance novel. This is a survivor’s story; you get the raw, brutal truth about her feelings and coping mechanisms, or lack thereof.
Jordan’s Shadow also has hints of mystery as chapters swap between Jordan’s Point of View and her client’s, “the Shadow,” who knows more about her past than he should.
This book was great. It was a suspense-filled Romance that pulled me in from page one and kept me interested until the end. I loved the main characters. They had their flaws and man this book was a heavy motional ride but I still loved it and them. I am looking forward to reading more by this author and I would recommend this to a friend!
I was pulled in right from the beginning. My heart broke for Jordan and what she went through at the hands of someone that should have been a protector. Jordan runs away and finds a job that helps her deal with her demons. This is where she meets The Shadow. She has never seen his face until now…..
The Shadow is obsessed with Jordan. He is ready to tell her the truth and share his identity. She will finally learn who he really is, but how will she react? Will he be able to help her get her revenge?
Overall this was a great dark read. I couldn’t put it down. My emotions were all over the place. I will warnt there are some scenes that may cause triggers for some. Both characters were great, I was happy that Jordan had someone who loved her and wanted to keep her safe. I can’t wait to read more from this author. If you like dark suspenseful reads then you will enjoy this book.
Jordan’s Shadow by T. R. Cupak was a really good read! It was so entertaining and enthralling I could hardly put it down! This book was very steamy, and even darker. This is definitely not a book for the faint of heart. My only complaint, with some events that happen in the plot, is that I didn’t see a trigger warning or content warning. I feel like there should have been, because some of the content may be very damaging for some readers. Other than that small bit, this was an amazing book! I loved almost everything, the plot, storyline and characters. Or most of the characters, definitely not all. I’m still unsure of the ending, but still really enjoyed this read. I can’t wait to read more from this author in the future!
This is my first book by this author. This book was more than I was expecting. I will say that if you have a trigger when it comes to rape do not read this book. The main female character in this is Jordan and she is a girl who has been through a lot. The main male character in this is Hunter and he is trying to save her. It’s a very well written book and has a great plot And throughout the book it’s well worded. It was a bit graphic for me but it was a good book.
I’m at a total loss for where to start discussing Jordan’s Shadow by T.R. Cupak. This book has literally spit me out and left me wondering what the hell happened. I hadn’t read any of this author’s work before so was unsure what to expect. For a start, I should have taken much more notice of the blurb which states that this book is not about love or a happily ever after.
This book is dark and deep and extremely thought provoking. It can be very hard reading at times and could be a trigger to some.
Jordan is a truly amazing character. She has had the most awful upbringing and is struggling in a life full of drugs and sex. Can The Shadow be her salvation and saviour. The Shadow also has a story to tell but he worries that Jordan would hate him if she knew the truth.
It’s hard to write much about the book without giving spoilers but I will say that it’s very dark, emotional and heartbreaking. For those who tend to have a good cry at raw, emotional stories, you will most likely need tissues to get through this book. It’s tough going but it’s most definitely worth the effort. Although it just might break you in the process.
You need to read the triggers warning before reading this book, some scenes are quite graphic.
Jordan was from a weathly family until her step-father and his friends took away everything in one depraved, torture filled night. This sends her into a heavily medicated and alcohol filled survival mode.
The Shadow is the only good thing she seems to have, and she looks forward to their time together. But even he has an ulterior motive and dark secrets that he can’t keep from her forever, but she won’t like what they are.
The two initially have a business relationship which develops into an obsession and almost borders on stalking by The Shadow, but there is a definite attraction and mutual dependency. He is desperate to help Jordan in any way he can, he just needs her to listen long enough to show her how.
I don’t know how Jordan has survived and continued the way she has after everything she has gone through. She is barely functioning when he offers her a chance to reclaim her life.
He started the relationship to try and help but she soon becomes his everything, and he will do anything he can for her, but sometimes wanting something and getting something are two very different things, even when you have a ton of money.
This is not a love story, but more a story of survival. It was gripping and soul destroying at the same time.
Jordan’s Shadow
By T.R. Cupak
This is not what I expected, but it did exceed all my expectations. I don’t even have the words to express all the feelings this story had me going through. As soon as I started reading this book I was completely engaged and I couldn’t put it down. I was on the edge of my seat through most of this story as it took me through sadness, addiction, anger, suspense, hope and more sadness. This is the first book I have read by this author but it will definitely not be my last. I don’t want to give anything away but I will say that this is a must read and I highly recommend this emotional story.
“This isn’t about love, like, lust or a happily ever after…” – I read that and thought “okay, there’d be speed bumps, sharp curves and stoplights along the way- but the boy gets the girl. Typical happy ending”. T.R. Cupak took my expectations and predictions and tossed them out the window. This novel is raw, creative, authentically crafted-and wrenches every drop of emotion from you. I experienced a kaleidoscope of emotions, I was angry, sad, happy and craved revenge just as much as Hunter. Jordan’s Shadow is not just your typical novel- it is not. Jordan’s Shadow is one of those stories that you didn’t know you wanted to read- but in the end, it’s the story you know you needed. The characters grow on you, they crawl in your heart and stay there. T.R. highlights the beauty evident in brokenness; the commitment that accompanies love. I literally cannot stop raving about this book- it’s captivating, gut-wrenching, unpredictable and a page-turner. A TOTAL MUST READ.
One night can change your whole path of your life, but will a strange help you crawl out of the darkness or push you further down the rabbit hole.
Jordan has had a traumatic history and this has sent her hurtling into the darkest realms of life, with her addictions of Alcohol and drugs numbing the memories but will she ever be able to come out into the light.
Hunter aka The Shadow is infatuated by her, her believes he is Jordan’s protector but underneath he is hiding a secret that if Jordan finds out may send her further into the darkness and there will be no way out.
I have to warn you this is not a romance with all the feels of flutters in the stomach and happiness, no this is a dark, dark story and will draw you in with tears and heartbreak. This story broke me, this is the first book I have read by this author and thought that they wrote an honesty and dramatic account of the initial attack and then the subsequent years after that really affected how she lived her life.
I liked that they were both scarred by something that happened in there past and are drawn to each other to try and resolve the sadness which both have but intertwined with happiness. I can’t wait to read more books by this author and I hope you enjoy this story but be warned you will need tissues.
Jordan’s Shadow is definitely suspenseful and dark. When I first read the synopsis on this book i was intrigued right from the get go. Only once I started it I couldn’t put it down.T.R. Cupak captures her readers attention right away, and never let’s it go. Jordan’s Shadow is filled with a dark past, secrets, love and affection, revenge and so much more that it will have you furiously flipping the pages to find out what happens next. Make sure to bring your tissues boys and girls because Jordan’s Shadow is a dark and wild ride that you won’t be able to resist.
Jordan’s Shadow by T.R. Cupak
Four Stars
Jordan’s Shadow is a psychologically dark romance by T.R. Cupak. This is my first read by this author. I look forward to reading more of her book. This book had my emotions rub raw and it left me with a book hangover. I just keep thinking about it, and that to me is the definition of a great book. Jordan is a very strong character who is also troubled by events that happen in her life. This book was well written and had me enthralled and wondering what was going to happen next. If you like dark romance with some twists, you should read this book.
Jordan’s Shadow by T.R. Cupak – Review by Krista Vaughan
Jordan’s character pulled me in and took me along on her story full of strife, addiction, sex and obsession. I felt every word of this story. Jordan’s Shadow grabbed my interest and took me on a crazy ride. The culmination of their story left me bereft and shattered. It was addictive, all-consuming, and everyone NEEDS to read this book!
5/5 Stars
Jordan’s Shadow by T.R. Cupak
This is the first book I’ve read by the author. This will not be my last read because this book was absolutely amazing. It mentions rape, drug use, and other things that could bring back bad memories.
Jordan has changed everything about herself after something changes her life. Now hooked on prescription drugs that are prescribed for her. She meets the man of her dreams known as The Shadow. The quote I chose for Jordan is: “GAH! Why did he have to read my notebook? All he had to do was just ask. I would have thrown him a freaking bone. Isn’t this fucking dandy, now I’m talking to myself.”
Hunter is paying for an escort he has time to scope out. He knows everything there is to know about Jordan. He knows her real name, the real reason she changed her entire life, and what happened that night. The quote I chose for Hunter is: “I can see that I’ve thrown you off and I want to apologize. As you have come to notice, patience is something I need to work on.”
Highly recommended for Dark Romance lovers.
Wow. This story is an emotional roller coaster! Jordan’s Shadow by T.R. Cupak has created a multi-dimensional character who has it all, and then loses it all. Jordan experiences a life-changing event at the age of 17, and her world shifts. Amongst all the darkness in her life, Hunter (Shadow) becomes a source of light in Jordan’s life. This unconventional and twisted tale kept me on the edge of my seat and was easy to finish quickly because the need to figure out what happened next was too intense to quit! This is the first novel I have read by this author but will not be the last. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars and definitely recommend this book and author!
Be prepared to go on a totally different ride with this book. This book is not about happily ever after’s; it’s not roses, unicorns, butterflies and rainbows. It’s life of one woman who at one point had at all. Then one night changes her entire world and being. I couldn’t stop reading even though with every turn of the page my heart broke a little more. The raw emotions put in to this book will have you balling by the end. T.R. Cupak has a way with words.
This is not advised for anyone one under the age of 18 due to the graphic content.
Jordan is a woman with a whole heap of problems, she is an addict, she uses drugs and alcohol to numb the pain of her past and the demons which haunt her, especially when the nightmares hit of the night her life changed forever, she also writes in her journal to help her process her dreams and let out all the pain and the hurt inside. The Shadow is a man obsessed with a woman and that woman is Jordan, all he wants is to keep her by his side, but she isn’t aware of this, their shared past or his commitment to avenge her.
.
She has tried to get a normal job and keep her head down, but that didn’t work out, so when the opportunity to become an escort came up, she decided to give it a go and here she is several years later and still doing it, she has her regular clients, but only a couple who she actually sleeps with. One of her main clients is a man she has named The Shadow, she sees him once a month and is always blindfolded while she is with him, he gives her gifts and his bodyguard is always professional and polite when he comes to collect her. She knows that he is just a client, but she can’t help but hope that he could be something more, he knows how to play her body like an instrument and she can’t help but give in to his every demand, but this time, something happens and she goes into a full blown panic attack.
The next morning she wakes up in an unfamiliar place with a pounding head and no idea why until flashbacks of the night before make her want to throw up, but instead she explores the room and it’s contents, she finds notes dotted around to make her comfortable and after The Shadow’s bodyguard gives her something to change into, she gets ready to leave, however, when she is dropped off at home, she is surprised when she is told he will be visiting her tonight and she is told to wear nothing but her blindfold when he gets there.
The Shadow is informed that Jordan is safely back at home, he is thinking about his current business path, as well as the past events that have led him to her, but that is nothing compared to his plan for the night to come and the first step in his plan for revenge, but he is worrying about how she will react to what he will tell her.
When the time comes for Jordan and The Shadow to meet, she is spiralling, the cocktail of booze and drudge she has taken are sending her mind into a tailspin and she can’t stop thinking about escaping, even though his bodyguard has put a stop to that straight away already. Meanwhile The Shadow is just as flighty as she is, but he takes a few swigs of liquid courage and goes to her flat, things do not go quite to plan and the things he wants to say are forgotten once he allows her to look at him. That night, there is passion, an argument, a betrayal of trust and exhaustion, but Jordan goes to see him the next day anyway and when he reveals one more part of himself to her, will she be able to accept his words like he wants her to, or will she run when she realises that his demons and darkness are almost as deep as hers? Will these two broken people come together, or are past events going to be too large a barrier to overcome? This is not a romance for the faint of heart, it is a tidal wave of emotion, betrayal and revelations which will pull you under into their world of darkness and wanting to know how the story ends.
