Booth Pena definitely didn’t make the smartest of decisions when he was a teenager. At eighteen, he knocked a girl up and signed up for the military all in the same day—signing his life away in more ways than one. Fast forward six weeks and he’s in bootcamp learning that he’s going to be a father while also learning that not only is he going to be deployed, but it’s going to stay that way for a … way for a year.
There weren’t a lot of things that the baby’s mother and he saw eye to eye on after that. He honestly wasn’t sure why he even slept with her in the first place.
Okay, that last part is a lie. He knows exactly why he slept with her. Because the real woman he’s in love with, her twin sister, Dillan, won’t give him the time of day.
Five years later, and he still wants her.
Now he’s home for good, being the best father and police officer that he can be, and still he’s not good enough.

Dillan Davidsdottir hated Booth Pena. Immensely.
She hated him because he slept with her sister, then left. Granted, she knew that he hadn’t meant to leave like he did, unknowingly and unconsciously leaving his daughter behind, but that didn’t change the fact that he had.
Five years later, and she still dislikes him just as much now as she did when he chose the wrong sister to take to his bed.
Maybe if he’d chosen her, her heart wouldn’t be broken, and his wouldn’t be untouchable.
But when a SWAT officer sees his life flash before his eyes, and decides that enough is enough, what’s a girl to do?
Give in, that’s what.

They should have been sweethearts, but one night changed everything. And, 9 months later, Booth Pena had a baby with the sister he wasn’t in love with.
Both Booth and Dillan are in denial for years. But another fateful event makes Booth realize that life can be short and it’s time to take what they both want!
Once again, Lani Lynn Vale presents readers with a crazy situation (two sets of twins that fall for each other, but end up all wrong) yet, it works, and only because it’s Lani Lynn Vale!
And, talk about a completely insane back story that weaves itself right up to the present! It’s crazy and unbelievable but works . . . and, nope, not giving it away other than to say that a dog is the absolute hero in this story!
I absolutely loved Booth and Dillan and how they were making this work for them, their siblings and Asa. I loved seeing Nico as a grandfather, and it’s always fun seeing the rest of the SWAT team as well. 4.5 stars!
4.5 Stars
I’ve been looking forward to this book. It’ shard to imagine Booth all grown up. I really enjoyed this one. I gobbled this book up in a day. I loved the humor, but also Booth and Dillian finally getting their chance. Life threw these two sets of twins for a loop when they were younger. After a close call Booth isn’t going to let life pass him by anymore. He’s going to go after who has been longing for. I love the relationship Dillian has with Booth’s family especially his sister. This wouldn’t be a book in this series without some twists. This book gave me everything I crave; heart, heat, and humor. I saw who the couple is in the next book and now I can’t wait for it!
5 SWEET DOUGHNUT STARS!! Wow, what a quick fun read that brought a huge smile to my face. I love any book with cops and this one was perfect. Booth and Dillan have a story to tell you and they are both twins….let the fun begin. This story has all the feels with some complications suspense. Looking for a quick read to escape in with some heat… here you go.
5 So Many Secrets Are Revealed Stars!!
I’ve been waiting for Booth’s story since we first met him and his identical twin brother Bourne and let me tell you this story was well worth the wait. There’s been this love hate relationship between Booth and Dillan for quite a long time and I wasn’t really sure how their story would come together, but Ms. Vale has done an exceptional job of writing a story that is filled with love, friendship, angst, swoonworthy moments and powerful secrets!
These two fought their feelings for a long time and for good reason, or so they thought, because how could her twin sleep with the man she knew her twin sister was crushing on…I’m not going to give anything away, but, I wasn’t expecting this twist that’s for sure!!
What I love the most though is their willingness to move past what’s happened in the past because they recognize, that they’re meant to be together. Along the way though, there’s some revelations that were shocking in nature and with these revelations comes an added element of suspense that had me white-knuckling my kindle because I NEEDED to find out the who’s, what’s and why’s!!
All in all, I loved everything about this book. Getting to see the family dynamics of both sets of twins…one very happy the other not so much and then there’s Asa who’s the most precious boy and seeing the love he feels for everyone had me smiling every single time he was in a scene! I cannot wait to see what happens with Bourne and Delanie cuz that’s gonna be a doozy of a story!!
Another great book in the Swat 2.0 series by LLV!! This book is about Booth and Dillan and I have to admit that I’ve wanted this book for a long time because I love the twins dad…it’s true, I’ve secretly always loved him the mostest lol. This storyline should have been complicated but it wasn’t because in this case it was each twin loved the other twin and it worked. That’s not to say there weren’t some hard or hurt feelings. I never give spoilers in any reviews but I do let people know that the book is a one-of-a-kind that will have you wanting to read the next book
The twist was actually the core of the book and I honestly almost didn’t bother to preorder like I usually do. I mean a set of twins in love with another set of twins and a MAJOR screw up in who slept with who; who could get past that?
We get a picture of a supportive family vs a good for nothing parent, obsession vs undeniable love and an HEA that had me grinning like crazy.
Bruno my have only gotten a mention but I loved it and we get a few with Nico.
Five years ago Booth Pena made a mistake by sleeping with the twin of the girl he was falling for. He can’t explain what happened but it ended up with a pregnancy, a son he loves and Dillon, the girl of his dreams, hating him. Booth still wants Dillon, he is nuts about her and in a moment of clarity he decides enough is enough and tackles the elephant in the room that is keeping them apart.
Dillon gets the answers she needs and she is ready to move on with Booth. However something about the whole incident between Booth and her sisters is sending red flags and she wants answers. Secrets are discovered and Dillon finds herself leaning on Booth even more and he is just what she needs. Can he keep her safe from the storm that is heading their way?
I had been extremely curious about the twins Booth & Bourne and Dillon & Delanie, their story took a turn I had not expected which was perfect because I had been a bit weary where it would lead. Tons of favorite characters in this book and a new favorite, Belle, who I want to know more about. Everything I expected from this talented author and more.
One would think that with the weird dynamic that exists between
twin brothers, Booth and Bourne, and twin sisters, Dillon and Delanie, that there would be an exponential amount of drama, and I have to be honest, I didn’t know if I was up for it all, but despite how everything played out that night, five years ago, it’s clear that there is zero jealousy or ill-feelings when it comes to Booth wanting Dillon instead of Delanie, his son’s mother. And there’s an explanation as to why things played out the way they did and those answers are what readers have been wanting, ever since they met these two sets of twins.
One of the main story lines in Joke’s On You is unraveling all the ins and outs of why everything played out the way they did in when it comes to the night of Asa’s conception and the circumstances and outside interference that occurred. But while it seems straightforward, as well as quite feasible, when feelings are involved, nothing seems clearcut, so while all the questions were pretty much answered…I don’t know…it felt too easy, and while Booth had to work to prove to Dillan the kind of man he is, she even seemed to get out of her own way once he took more direct action when it came to their true feelings for each other.
With Bourne and Delanie’s story up next, I’m hoping that their perspectives will add to the overall view of these four and their relationships, and why, despite those factors working against them, they seem to be where they belong and want to be.
3.5 Poison Apples
I love this series! these guys are everything! I loved this book!
Okay, so, the stories in the SWAT Generation 2.0 series by author Lani Lynn Vale are what I would call offbeat. That’s to say that the characters are quirky, that more goes on in the little town of Kilgore, TX, than I can manage to keep up with, and that there is no shortage of shenanigans afoot. Readers of the previous books in the series knew going in to JOKE’S ON YOU the premise of the story. The groundwork had been well-laid by the author, and this book answered all of the questions that we had about the crazy mixed-up relationship between the Pena brothers and the Davidsdottir sisters.
There’s never been a question that Booth Pena hooked up with the wrong Davidsdottir sister. He’d had it bad for Dillan for forever, which made him choosing Dillan’s twin sister, Delanie, as a baby mama a great big “What?!” But this is where JOKE’S ON YOU gets down to business…we knew the what, just not the why of the situation, and Lani Lynn gives us all of the deets in this story, and in a way that made perfect Kilgore, TX, sense to me.
I always enjoy these books precisely because they are a little bit, well, wacky, and jam-packed with action, a little bit of mystery, and characters that you can’t help but love. JOKE’S ON YOU gave me exactly what I was looking for in the resolution of Booth’s and Dillan’s story, and is a great lead-in to Bourne’s and Delanie’s.
I would like to make a note and say that it is a given that a book is not going to appeal to everyone. There will be some that are absolutely amazing, and others that do not do it for me. That being said, though, I would not even think about giving a book a bad review based on a blurb, because there is no way that a few short sentences can properly give the entire picture. If you’ve loved this series, and just aren’t sure about this book, I believe that you should give it a chance. Booth and Dillan may just surprise you, and in the very best way.
I might have appreciated a few books on the series and liked the characters from this second SWAT generation, kids who had grown up together and now seeing their lives as adults and watching them or their friends finding their match.
The first I have read were quite entertaining and fun, colorful characters, tight knit family and I kept going on reading. Deep down I knew that I would have some issues with Booth’s story because let’s just say it; I would have a headache before I even started.
How can I explain that situation?
Are you ready? (Well you can tell me later that I should have trusted my instincts… anyway I digress)
Booth has a twin brother, Bourne, and these two fell in love with twin sisters. It should have been easy that way but it wasn’t.
Anyway, something happened and Booth slept with the other sister and had a kid with her.
But how? The author gave the background story about it.
There was so many things going on, with the characters finally admitting their feelings, the drama with Dillan and Delanie’s family and also all the things happening during Booth’s job. All.the.Drama!!!
And in the middle of adult drama stood my favorite character in this story, Asa, Booth and Delanie’s boy. I loved that kid, with his boldness and totally out of all craziness going on there. Definitely keeping the adults on their toes.
There were some good things about this book but trying constantly to remind who was connected to was a little exhausting to me. At least, Booth finally got his HEA and we got more explanation about how things turned that way, I have to say worthy of a soap opera. Due to their situation, the author managed to make it work
Oh I was looking forward to this one as we have been teased with the Booth/Dillian/Bourne/Delanie web. What are the odds that a 1 set of twins fall in love with another set of twins! throw in an unexpected pregnancy with the wrong couple and you get an even bigger mess!
Booth is finally going to given in this feelings for Dillian! I am so happy that he is finally getting his head out of his a**e and going for the girl he loves, even if she is the twin for his baby mama! At least there is no bad blood with his sons mother considering she is in love with his brother….see confusing drama but oh so good.
Add in the typical humour from LLV along with some suspense from a crazy stalker and this is another read you wont be able to put done! I love these worlds LLV is building and bringing us.
I can’t wait to see what happens with Bourne and Delanie in Join the Club
Booth and Dillan’s story was all parts of Jerry Springer drama with the perfect humorous twist to it and I couldn’t get enough of it. Booth and Dillan’s story is anything other then your run of the mill conventional story unless your life is like a made for TV movie lol. I was weary about how certain things would happen cause of the players but I was dying for this book and so happy I read it!!
Love Love Love this one! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Booth Pena has an interesting situation with the woman he loves. She hates him. She is also the sister of the mother of his son. One night when they both believed they were with the one they wanted and the morning after seeing their mistake. You see… Booth also has an identical twin. So many things unfold and they all realize they are victims and they should have their happy.
This story was complex and heart warming!
Five Stars
Amazing story of love and finding the one made for you! Ashley @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Loved seeing Boone and Dillan come together! Yes, with the other books leading up to this one I knew it was going to be a good one. There are lots of critics out there that say this is a crazy read but seeing these two get there Happily Ever after is awesome! From the series you know that Boone had a baby with Dillan’s sister but is in love with Dillan. Watching these two come together was wonderful! This story of family drama will have you cheering these two together. Can’t wait to see Bourne and Delanie come together next!!!! Love this series and can’t wait for more!
I have done three read throughs of this story and I can say that I found something new each time I read through it that kept me entertained. Booth and Dillan are so freaking sweet together and the tension between Bourne and Delanie just made the storyline that much better. But the character that really stole my heart was Asa. He is so freaking cute that I just wanted to hug him (if he was real).
Readers of this series have known Booth for a while, but Dillan has only recently come into this universe. But I have to admit that I liked Dillan more than any of the other female characters that I have met so far. She and her sister are both very passionate and strong women, but Dillan really showed her character through this book. And her characters power and strength became truly apparent as the story played out with the twists that came at the characters.
There are truly many things to like and love about this book … storyline, characters, Bobo!!!, and the suspense. I always love books that big into things that happened previously and bring about a conclusion. LLV is great at bringing suspense into a book, and adding twists and turns that you as the reader didn’t see coming. Overall, the story was a good one that kept me hooked and entertained. I would totally recommend this to anyone who hasn’t read this author before to give them a great starting off point.
So, two thumbs up and happy reading!
o
This was a good quick read where we get the back story of two sets of twins who have fallen for one another but circumstances has made it seem like they can’t be with the one they want. I could see how this might be a trigger to some readers because yes Booth did sleep with the heroines sister but I thought the explanation to this helped me understand the situation better. Dillan and Booth were meant for each other but some people had a hand in trying to keep them apart but after a SWAT call and near death experience Booth is tired of living for everyone else. The relationship he has with Dillan’s sister is amicable and they raise their kid with both families and they know they were never meant to be but do not regret their son. I know it seems unrealistic but I did enjoy this book and like I said it gave me more incite on how things came to be.
From the ending of the last book in this series, I knew that Booth and Dillion’s story would be complicated and full of drama, and I was excited to see how the whole thing would play out. Well of course LLV did not disappoint.
I loved Dillon and Booth, add in the sweetness that is Asa and I was hooked. I couldn’t put this story down. I loved every second of this one and I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on Denalie and Bourne’s story!
It’s been a while since I got a LLV e-book; I mostly get her audiobooks through Audible lately. I haven’t really read all the books in the series, so I’m not familiar with all the characters featured. It wasn’t hard for me to keep up with the story though!
Booth and Dillan’s story is a complicated one. They both have identical twins; Delaney is Dillan’s sister and Bourne is Booth’s brother. While reading the synopsis you’ll learn that Booth and Delaney slept together, and she ended up pregnant. However, Booth always had a crush on Dillan. I know you’ll tell me this is a really messed up situation. I saw many reviewers dragging the book based only in what the synopsis reveals. Let me tell you that the author spins the plot in such way, you won’t see it coming, so don’t be quick to judge.
The story is really interesting. We get to see Booth and Dillan’s relationship flourish and him trying to be the best dad possible. There are strange things happening to Dillan, giving the story a good amount of mystery and suspense. I liked the little glimpses to the other characters’ lives, and I would like to get to read their books as well!!
What a ride. There are twists and turns you don’t see coming and so many family connections you can’t help but smile. Booth and Dillan have practically been in love with each other forever but due to circumstances not of their own, haven’t been able to be together until now. There are people who don’t want that however and that’s when all the drama starts. In between the story is funny, sexy, and love their support system. Some things I felt were explained too much or dragged on but it didn’t take away from the feel of the story. Now I can’t wait for Bourne and Delanie!
