Booth Pena definitely didn’t make the smartest of decisions when he was a teenager. At eighteen, he knocked a girl up and signed up for the military all in the same day—signing his life away in more ways than one. Fast forward six weeks and he’s in bootcamp learning that he’s going to be a father while also learning that not only is he going to be deployed, but it’s going to stay that way for a … way for a year.
There weren’t a lot of things that the baby’s mother and he saw eye to eye on after that. He honestly wasn’t sure why he even slept with her in the first place.
Okay, that last part is a lie. He knows exactly why he slept with her. Because the real woman he’s in love with, her twin sister, Dillan, won’t give him the time of day.
Five years later, and he still wants her.
Now he’s home for good, being the best father and police officer that he can be, and still he’s not good enough.

Dillan Davidsdottir hated Booth Pena. Immensely.
She hated him because he slept with her sister, then left. Granted, she knew that he hadn’t meant to leave like he did, unknowingly and unconsciously leaving his daughter behind, but that didn’t change the fact that he had.
Five years later, and she still dislikes him just as much now as she did when he chose the wrong sister to take to his bed.
Maybe if he’d chosen her, her heart wouldn’t be broken, and his wouldn’t be untouchable.
But when a SWAT officer sees his life flash before his eyes, and decides that enough is enough, what’s a girl to do?
Give in, that’s what.

Another fun story where you are thoroughly entertained with a great romance, some good humor, and a touch of suspense.
I absolutely love Dillon and Booth as a couple, they not only have great chemistry but they just gel so well together personality-wise too. Dillon has such a loving and caring nature, she is a total gem. She’s hardworking and sensible but can enjoy mucking around with the best of them. Booth, I remember his character being so cheeky when he was younger, well he’s certainly grown up now. He is such a wonderful father to Asa, who just by the by, is a little treasure on his own and adds a few good laughs as well.
The suspense element isn’t as much about who but more about what they are going to do next. The ‘evil’ characters are varied but the main one is very twisted in his beliefs and intentions. Nothing over the top but a nice added to the romance thread. The actual romance is very sweet but not in a sickly way, it is red hot too. Their passion is intense and the intimacy described perfectly.
Some terrific humor added makes for a well-balanced story that is fast-paced, easy to read, and a wonderful escape from reality.

Dillan always had a thing for Booth even when he did the unthinkable and slept with her twin sister. If that wasn’t bad enough, he got her sister pregnant. She had to turn the feelings to hate so others wouldn’t know. Her heart was broken but she loved her sister and nephew and never let them feel it.
There’s more going on then just him sleeping with her sister. You’ll have to read this to find out what I’m talking about. I certainly didn’t see the twist that came with this book. I thought it was just going to be an apology or ten and Dillan would get over it. BUT yeah, you have to read this to find out what I’m talking about!!!
Two sets of twins, one cuter than heck little boy that everyone doted on and was of course funny in parts, steamy in others, jaw-dropping in a few places. (see above lol) Loved seeing the families like always!!
A return to Vale’s SWAT world with the fantastic added twist of crushes on the opposite identical twin (yes, plural because there are two sets) and the added problem of a cute five year old between the wrong couple. This is soap opera level twisted, but with Lani level storytelling, which makes it sooooooo good!
Boone Pena is the baby daddy to Dillan Davidsdottir’s sister, Delanie. Boone has had a crush on Dillan since the Davidsdottir sisters moved to town. It wasn’t intentional or even a mistake that Boone slept with Delanie (the wrong sister), you see Dillan is an identical twin and yes, he could tell which sister was which, but what happened was just a drunken mistake. However, it did give him his son and that is something that he would never take back or call a mistake, even if it did mess up his chances with Dillan.
While Delanie never harbored any feelings for Boone, Dillian certainly did. Years went by with those feelings stuffed down inside until one day they both realize that living without each other is just ridiculous. Even though their lives are complicated, she is the aunt to Boone’s son after all, it could still work if they make it work.
Joke’s On You is steamy, but certainly in the best way possible. Boone as a dad is super cute and I love having both families as twins. This overall is another wonderful addition to the SWAT series.
It would be next to impossible to tell you why I loved this book so much without giving away to much of the story, but I’m going to try! Even after all these books, LLV never fails to surprise me! This book is a mash up, comedy of errors type of book. Booth loves Dillon, but has a son with her twin, Delanie. His twin, on the other hand seems to have a love/hate thing going on with Delanie! Any kind of relationship between Booth and Dillon seems to be doomed, before it even gets started. But it’s never too late for a second chance, right?!?
No matter how perfect Booth and Dillon are for each other, there is so much standing in their way, and it really seems hopeless at times. I had my doubts at times, but knew that LLV would manage to pull out a HEA in the end. And boy did she! Their story is one of second chances, a perfect love, a messy life, and a family that stands behind you, no matter what. This book was everything. There were times that I laughed so loud my kids ran to see what was so funny. There were times that I was so shocked, I shouted in dismay!
Just a word of caution, while this book has a wonderful HEA, and the story is complete, it seems to be tied tightly with the next book. Which is really to be expected, right? I mean, Twins. But I’m left with a few questions, which I’m sure will be answered in the next stor
4 Star Review Jokes On You (Swat Next Generation 2.0 #5) by Lani Lynn Vale
I’m really not sure where to start with this review. I knew from the ending of the previous book that this would be one heck of a complicated story but I had no idea how much.
I had a hard time relating to Booth Pena and in fact it took me most of the book to warm up to him. I found and Dillan Davidsdottir easier to relate to, although truthfully I didn’t understand how she could be so forgiving.
We all make mistakes, it’s how we own up and deal with them that make a person. The fact that Booth slept with the love of his life’s twin sister Delanie (because he couldn’t have Dillan) really annoyed me.
Now he has returned and his feelings remain for Dillan. Can he convince her to finally give him a chance? Dillan is a strong and sassy woman, but I have no idea how she could forgive him. The relationship he has with Asa the result of his night of misguided passion was probably the redeeming factor for me with Booth.
This was a suspenseful, drama filled journey that Lani Lynn Vale lead us on as questions will be answered. Whilst not my favourite story from this author, it was well written.
Booth’s story I was so excited to read this book. I loved Dillan and Booth so much and then there is little Asa love love love that kid. Dillan was just so sweet and Booth was certainly swoonworthy. I have to say that I can’t wait for the next book in this series. These characters are so amazing. I devoured this book and can’t wait for more and more from my favority SWAT family.
Another hit in this series. Have I mentioned that I really enjoy these characters? Not only are they coworkers, but most of them grew up together and you can ‘feel’ that history in each new story. Booth and Dillan have been dancing around each other and their feelings what seems like forever. Everyone knows the history, but there were questions that nobody asked, not wanting to dredge up the past.
It all changed in the blink of an eye while the team was on a call and things went south. From that point on, the hard questions were asked and the circumstances surrounding the history was finally starting to come to light. Something was fishy and the more questions they asked the more ‘off’ things seemed. The story has so many emotions, from the good to the difficult, heart-wrenching to happily ever after with a splash of suspense and indignation to make it interesting.
I know some are put off by the whole twin sister baby mama thing, but there is so much more to it if you give it a chance. I can’t wait to see what happens next with Bourne and Delanie.
Booth and Dillan finally got their HEA after everything they went through. It was a hard earned one for them. Booth was done waiting and boy did he put all his cards in the table. There was no push or pull from Dillan which I loved. She know that they belonged together.
The banter between these two was great. It was easy and I could feel their love for each other. The drama…… it felt a little rushed. Not that it was bad, because I wanted to get their their HEA fast. I’m thinking we will learn more in the next book because some of it had to do with other characters too. I don’t want to give to much away. This was fast paced, a beautiful love story were a couple deserved their happy ending years before but life doesn’t always work that way. I can’t wait for the next one and being able to see these two more and the other twins. 4 star #2OCCJD
Joke’s On You mixes suspense, long awaited romance, and swoonworthy men to make the perfect cocktail of a romance book!
Booth has pined for Dillan for years, a mistake happens and he thinks he will never have her. Dillan has pined for Booth for years but she holds onto past anger to get her through it. When these two come together? It’s fireworks of passion and sweetness flying off the pages.
Lani Lynn Vale delivers such a passionate read that had me swooning and fanning my face!
