Book DescriptionTate Higgins When FBI Agent Higgins accepts the assignment to escort a dying young woman to her high school prom, he fully intends to be home by midnight. Tate is no Romeo. Neither is he tall, dark, or debonair. He’s the workhorse on the FBI’s psychic Deuces Wild Team, not a mind reader, and this is nothing but a one-night job for the former USMC scout sniper. Until he sees the … sniper. Until he sees the young woman dancing up high on a water tower. What a sight…
Winslow Parrish The prom is a fake and the water tower is the only refuge where Winslow’s mother can’t reach her. Stricken with a rare cancer, her life is nearly at its end. There will be no handsome lover in her future. No wedding. No babies. Her world has been reduced to the countdown of days she accepted years ago. Until an unexpected stranger appears out of nowhere and asks her to—dance.

Who knew a prom date would change his life. Great story
Irish Winters never fails to have me glued to a book until it is finished. She is a master storyteller and a pure entertainer. Her stories are always emotional and exciting and this book is certainly no exception. It is worth far more than 5 stars! I totally fell in love with Tate. My heart went out to him and I just couldn’t get over how sweetly he treated Winslow right from the beginning and never gave up on her. He is what every hero should be. Oh and who doesn’t love a man who is so amazing with animals and children?! Winslow also won my heart. What she had to endure throughout her entire life is so distressing. I just wanted to reach into the book, hold her tight and keep her safe. Tate and Winslow were made for each other. They both have a tragic history and it is so wonderful that they found each other. There isn’t another couple who is more deserving of a HEA. Plus Pepe was an awesome addition to the story, just loved him! You’ve done it again Irish Winters, taken me on a wild ride I didn’t want to get off of. Hope we don’t have to wait long for the next one.
Irish Winters has outdone herself with JOKER, JOKER. Get ready for an emotion filled read. Tate Higgins has been “volunteered” to escort a young woman, dying from a deadly form of cancer, to a dance. It is her one final wish. Upon his arrival at her home, he discovers she has vanished. When he finds her, thanks to help from her dog, a very poignant and emotional scene takes place as Winslow pours her heart out to Tate. They dance on a water tower under a star filled sky as Tate hums some music. (Tissues at hand please).
But things are not as they seem. With a mentally unstable mother from a dysfunctional family, an evil doctor and nurse, “miracle cures”, kidnappings and a cross-country chase there are plenty of twists and turns that are truly unexpected. And, of course, Tate has help from some of the TEAM members.
All Winslow ever wanted was for someone to love and care for her. You feel her pain and misery as she experiences the side-effects of her cancer meds. And as cold-hearted as Tate seems on the outside, he is a very compassionate man. Winslow was horrified the first time Tate saw her without her wig, but to Tate she was still the same beautiful woman he was falling in love with. Despite all the heartaches they go through, Winslow and Tate get the HEA they so richly deserve.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Irish has done it again. Tate Higgins is a loner. He doesn’t dance, he doesn’t date and he sure as hell doesn’t like wearing a tux. So why did he draw the short straw and get assigned to take a dying young woman to the prom? Surely another FBI agent would have been a better choice! The moment he meets the frail Winslow Parrish, something kicks him into full protection mode. The ensuing race to save this woman’s life will change his life forever. A real page turner!
