Joey does not believe that happily ever after is going to happen for him. An illness has made it difficult for him to believe in a future. And Sam, the sweet cop that comes into his life and gives him love and hope was so cool. Such a good story.

What to do when you find ‘The One’ and the life he knows is built on a lie?
Joey is in a predicament that no one can know the truth about. The completely smitten Sam is LAPD. What can possibly go wrong there?
A rocky start turned out to be the nest decision both men ever made. Took a lot of trust, lowering of walls, dedication to their love, and strength for what was to come.

Joey had a work ethic that would put 10 men to shame. He carried a couple of anvel sized baggage that would have broken lesser men. He kept his head down to avoid drawing attention to himself for many reasons, but he was not a wallflower. He is an absolutely likeable character. Officer Sam took a chance and found his treasure. The path was not smooth, but these men were stron, dedicated and committed. Joey had family issues many people are glad they never had to face. Did Sam get a chance to meet the family? Did Joey get the opportunity to share his troubles? Did the team from The Gates step up? This story gave a few characters the opportunity to strut their stuff. I like this story and these character representations the best. Well done!
Like it’s predecessor, this book is exciting and really kind of sweet. Joey is adorable. Sam is so smitten it’s wonderful to watch. They had a bit of a rough start but once the romance was in motion it moved quickly. Good guys win and bad guys lose. What’s not to love? HEA just adds the finishing touch. Good characters lend their voice to a great story.

I loved Joey and Sam, they were wonderful characters. Their emotionally taxing story is another great addition to this brilliant series.

When I started this book, I had no idea it was book 4 in the series. However, even though it was not book one, I had no problem reading ( just have to go back and get the other three) as a stand alone. Joey was a unique character, he was very likeable but has a secret he is hiding from everyone. I spent a lot of time guessing what his secret was, but never did guess right. 😉 I enjoyed the story , the characters and found them all likable if not a bit nosey. It was an easy read, moved along nicely and kept your attention right up to the end. The secret kept you guessing and the attraction between Joey and the Cop he wouldn’t let close was very evident but not overpowering. The supporting characters were funny, nosey, bossy and reminded me of how a big family would act. I enjoyed reading and getting to know the characters. I am now going to go back and start from book one so I can fill in the blanks and see how the other met their matches.
I cannot tell you how many tears came to my eyes, reading Joey’s story. His slight stature and his bravery in the face of his illness made you want to enfold him in a hug and make everything all right for him.
