Kip Carmichael is no pretty boy. He’s a rough. Dirty. Giant. Hair so unruly, and a beard so thick, his friends on the team call him Sasquatch. The first time Sasquatch lays eyes on Theodora “Teddy” Johnson across the keg at a party one night on Jock Row, she’d been relegated to the sidelines by her jock hungry “friends.”Week-after-week, he watches beautiful but bashful Teddy getting overshadowed, … Teddy getting overshadowed, and overlooked. Sasquatch finally broad shoulders his way through the crowd, offering to to be her hairy godmother. But the minute their eyes meet? He’s a goner.
Teaching her the RULES for winning a jock will be the easy part. Not falling in love with her is going to be a losing game.

Kip is the man. I connected with him right from the word Sasquatch. I mean not the whole hairy part but I’m really tall and have long blonde hair and I call myself Sasquatch all the time. Teddy was pretty cool. She and Kip had great banter. Those two bickering back and forth had me chuckling a few times. I really loved his sister Ronnie. I love how close they are and had great texts. I wish there could’ve been more, it seemed like the ending was rushed. But it’s cool, I still enjoyed the heck out of it.
I love Sara Ney’s books. I look forward to each and every new release. I couldn’t put this one down.
4.5 STARS!
Jock Row and Jock Rule by Sara Ney were the perfect balance of sexy and sweet with that bit of slow-burn we all love!
We have two guys, who play two different sports but both are jaded. Sick and tired and over the same girls walking through Jock Row wanting nothing more than the notoriety and luxuries of dating an athlete.
But the beauty of it all was watching them slowly fall for these sassy, quiet, and nerdy women. It was refreshing to say the least.
It was so much fun starting this series! I’m looking forward to more books. If you’re looking for a good sports romance that’s fast paced and entertaining, this series is the one.
I really like this series. My favorite things about this book (and this author)…. no major drama or conflict (I hate when an author throws in a ridiculous conflict just for the sake of having it) and the hero (Kip aka Sasquatch) was NOT a manwhore . Yep! That’s right. A jock. A rugby player. In college. Who also happens to be ridiculously wealthy (or his parents anyway). He’s been basically hiding behind a hairy face and man bun and staying away from females for the past couple years. Our heroine, Teddy, is a sweet, insecure, shy virgin. Her and Teddy end up becoming friends and Teddy her “Hairy Godmother” for a bit. This was pretty damn funny.
I would have liked it if this were longer. I feel like once they hit the physical side of their relationship, the book was over and felt rushed to get to the end.
I wanted a chance to meet Kip’s sister. I wanted an epilogue farther than 2 months too.
Having said that….I still really enjoyed the book. Hence my need for more. I definitely recommend this one.
The narration was great! I am in love with this series. Kip and Teddy were so sweet and I got all the swoony feels from this book. I love a broody hero and Kip was perfection. When Teddy confronted her roommate and stood up for herself, I was cheering. Such a great read.
It is reaaly interesting!
I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve read Teddy & Kip’s book.
So adorable. I Love his asshole-ishness and protectiveness of teddy. She is sweet and innocent and he doesn’t like it when she is being taken advantage of. He is in perpetual hiding of his family wealth and status and those who seek to use his skills, wealth and name to hitch a ride. Masking himself in a crazy beard and long hair hiding his pretty gorgeous looking face and body. But they are adorable together. Growing as friends that banter like an old married couple.
Hairy Godmother!
Teddy somehow keeps ending up as the keg tender at parties on Jock Row until Kip decided he’s had enough of seeing her taken advantage of. From awkward friends to cautiously attracted, to supportive partners these two were a delight to follow!
On to book 3!
Kip and Teddy will warm the cockles of your heart, have you laughing out loud and swooning !
Kip is a big, hairy, grunting rugby player. He is a bit of a loaner and shall we say not very social. When he spies an awkward gal manning the kegger he can’t stop himself from watching and the more he looks the more he learns. Saving her from a brawl was the last thing on his mind but it is done now and she is in his car .
Teddy is a smart and funny but has made some poor choices in the friend department when a hairy man wall slides up to her and begins to give his opinion she is angry, offended but intrigued.
This unlikely friendship and pact soon becomes so much more !!
Loved it !!

Jock Rule is the second book in the Jock Hard series by Sara Ney.
“We should not be doing this. Oh, who am I kidding? I’m the one with my hand practically down Kip’s pants.”
Oh my wow, this book. This book was entirely too funny, too sweet, too romantic, and too addicting. Kip and Teddy was was everything. It was light and so cute. This was friends to lovers. This was too cute and I couldn’t get enough of these two.
“Kip Carmichael is no pretty boy.”
Kip Carmichael is a living and breathing sasquatch on the Rugby team. He keeps his beard long and his hair longer. He is from a pretty wealthy family and is tired of people being around him just because of how much commas are in the balance of his bank account.
“Maybe I’m finally sick of being alone all the time. Maybe it’s time to let someone else in, someone I didn’t know I needed until I met Teddy.”
Teddy attends a party at the Rugby team’s house party three Fridays in a row and Kip notices her. After the last chance, he decided he has enough and would guide Teddy on how to attract the opposite sex. They start to hang out and fall into spending a lot of time together. They have an easy-going friendship and their banter is downright hilarious and sweet. Their chemistry was 100% so adorable. I can’t wait to read another one by Sara!
“Teddy is something I needed.”
I absolutely loved Kip and Teddy and their friends to lovers story. It was laugh out loud funny with all the feels. I listened to part of this book on audible and the narration was fantastic! Another amazingly awesome book by Sara Ney!
Sara Ney is fantastic with college athletic romances. I cannot resist them, and Jock Rule was a great one.
Summary:
Kip Carmichael has learned the hard way that people can be users and hard to trust. He’s taken great pains to hide in plain site. His mountain-man beard, unruly hair, and giant size makes it easy for him to avoid social interactions with most of his peers. He’s happy to prop up the wall with a beer and people-watch. At least he is until he sets eyes on Theodora “Teddy” Johnson. Kip watches as week- after-week, Teddy is sidelined by her jock-chasing friends. It’s painful to watch, and eventually Kip can’t take it anymore. He goes against his usual loner instincts, and offers to be her hairy godmother. He’ll teach her all she needs to know to win her own jock boyfriend. But he never anticipated his teachings biting him in the a$$. Teddy is beautiful and shy, but also smart and funny. How is he not supposed to fall for her himself?

The Jock Hard series is proving to be a very entertaining read, and I just can’t get enough! Kip and Teddy were an interesting match at first glance, but fit very well together, in the end. Teddy is a complex heroine in that she wasn’t shy, but she could be way too nice. Her life hasn’t been easy, but she’s determined, works hard, and has accepted who she is and the life she was given. I really connected with that since I’m from a similar background. She was also smart, funny, and witty. My only issue with Teddy came towards the end with her behavior before the banquet. In my opinion, it wasn’t nice, and really disappointed me since I wasn’t expecting that from her. Kip was something. Lol. Not only was he a mountain of a man, but he was blunt and honest which could be intimidating. I loved that he was so down to Earth even with how he grew up. His easy confidence and slightly arrogant demeanor was funny and oddly endearing, too. I loved his relationship with his sister, but do wish we got a better look at what made him avoid girls and people in general, too. As a couple, Kip and Teddy could be awkward, but this worked for them. I loved how they started dating without either of them really realizing it. Haha. Their steamy scenes were very hot, and I enjoyed that it wasn’t a race just to have sex. The buildup was sexy and sweet, too. My only issue stems from the tension surrounding the banquet and after. It’s brief, but I worried it resolved too quickly. Overall, this was another fantastic addition to the series. I found myself smiling happily at the end. Kip and Teddy gave us a lighthearted read with some laugh-out-loud moments and a sweet romance. I’ve read this sort of storyline before, but Jock Rule had that little bit of something that set it apart. Supporting cast was only so-so for this book. They really brought nothing to the table, and I wish we had gotten to see more of the previous couples in the series instead. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes NA Sports Romances with a bit of humor thrown in.
This is the second book in the Jock Hard series. I really enjoyed the story of Kip and Teddy. Teddy is a shy girl who is often taken advantage of by others. Kip, who is nicknamed Sasquatch, observes Teddy at a party on jock row. He sees the way others treat her, especially her best friend. He decides she needs to improve her backbone, and he is just the guy to help her. Their friendship is unorthodox, and before long other feelings begin to creep in. Kip can be a jerk but not a total douchbag. He uses his appearance to keep others at a distance, but that doesn’t really work on Teddy. I found myself smiling at a lot of their banter, and Kips’s texts with his sister. A really good read for me.
Kip is a big, bearded brute of a man who has sworn off women and dating for a long time. But when he sees sweet, innocent looking Teddy at a party, something about her gets under his skin. So he takes it upon himself to appoint himself her own personal dating guru, whether she wants him to be or not. When Kip first walks up to Teddy at a party, he’s so unbelievably rude to her that she’s not sure what to even say to him. Then somehow, over the course of a couple more parties, the two form a tentative uh something. Friendship I guess you could call it. He’s still attached to her side at every party, trying to give her very unhelpful advice about guys, but she’s seeing him in a different light. Sure, he’s still big and hairy and straightforward, but he’s not really rude like she had first thought. Or perhaps he’s just rubbing off on her or something. Or perhaps she’s just developing decidedly unwanted feelings for him. Perhaps he’s developing those same feelings for her?
I absolutely loved Jock Rule!! It’s so snarky and witty the way their friendship is formed and the way they banter back and forth. And their inner (and outer) thoughts are hilarious. But, it’s sweet at the same time. Kip, though he looks like a hairier version of Brock O’Hurn, is an absolute sweetheart underneath all his hair and his mouthy outer layer. I loved his texts with his older sister, Ronnie, and the way it was so obvious he was falling for Teddy, albeit unwillingly. And Teddy was adorable, absolutely adorable. Sweet, smart and without a clue in the world that the big lug was falling for her.
I have a love/hate relationship with New Adult fiction, as it can be too angsty and shallow a lot of the time. But, Sara Ney nails it here in Jock Rule. It’s got lots of heart more than anything. It’s steamy when the two finally get together, and the relationship and character development is top notch, which is a shock considering its shorter length. I haven’t read the first book in this series, Jock Row, but after reading and loving Jock Rule, I am going to dive in and enjoy myself!

It’s official…THAT’S RIGHT, I AM OFFICIALLY CALLING IT! This story is hands down the BEST book in the Jock Hard series, and my favorite story of all-time. Sara Ney’s uniquely captivating storytelling ability had me hooked right from the very beginning and wholeheartedly engulfed every part of my heart! Rugby players are my new addiction…and I am totally okay with that!
Kipling “Kip” Carmichael and Theodora “Teddy” Johnson are EVERYTHING you want in a book couple and I couldn’t think of a more perfectly match pair than these two. Although I’m not sure if everyone would agree with me, but come on…a hot and sexy bearded man bun wearing rugby player falling for the sweet and quite girl…YES PLEASE! Their story is what I like to call a twist on a modern day beauty and the beast…although this is the kind of beast or should I say Sasquatch, that I can DEFINITELY get behind! Just thinking about the chemistry between these two leaves a deep ache in my chest!
Jock Rule is a sweet and lovable slow burning romance that will set your heart of fire as you find yourself falling head over heels in love with Kip and Teddy! This opposites attract sports romance is unlike anything I have ever read and I cannot wait to see what Sara Ney comes up with next!
NO SPOILERS!
Jock Rule has been one of my FAVORITE novels from Sara Ney to date, and I absolutely LOVED Kip and Teddy’s story! It was funny, sexy, romantic, and entertaining, and I loved every moment from beginning to end. I loved the relationship between Kip and Teddy, their red-hot chemistry together, and all of their banter and interactions with each other. Sara Ney did a fantastic job with the second standalone in the Jock Hard series, and I can’t wait to devour the next one, Jock Road!
Love this series. First series I have read from this author and it did not disappoint. Can’t wait for more.
This was a fun and sexy read. I definitely recommend this book, this series, and this author.
Can we talk about the awesome names in this book!?! I swear the author had a blast settling on these. Both their names and nicknames are MEMORABLE to say the least.
Jock Rule is the story of the rugby playing mountain man and the awkward girl next door. He’s done trying to please everyone; she desperately tries to make everyone happy. Their unique friendship is a bridge neither would normally cross. But we are so glad they did!!!!!
Sexy, sweet and everything you want including a happily ever after…college edition, Jock Rule is another A on Sara Ney’s report card!
