EAT. SLEEP. FOOTBALL.Those are Jackson Jennings, Jr’s three mantras . His entire life, he’s been a trained athlete with only one end-game: the Pro’s. No girls. No parties. No alcohol. EAT. SLEEP. FOOTBALL.Repeat. Every Friday night, Triple J cruises the strip on campus, bored, lonely and conditioned not to party. But the night he meets Charlotte Edmonds on the side of the road, he wonders if his … side of the road, he wonders if his three mantras will ever be enough.
BIG. DUMB. JOCK.
Charlie has no time for Jackson’s antics. Not when he’s stealing her food or teases her to no end, making her tingle in all the right places. But if she’s ever going to have a boyfriend, she’d choose one who isn’t a Neanderthal. One with manners and actual time to spend with her. Not a hulking man-child who cruises the strip at night, in his Big. Dumb. Truck.

I absolutely loved this one. The banter between Jackson and Charlie will have you laugh and swoon. Their chemistry is sizzling hot and you’ll be hooked from the get go. A must read!!
I absolutely adored this book, Charlie and Jackson had the perfect banter and even if at first she resisted they had amazing chemistry. Jackson was so perfect and as a Southern myself I did think the author perfected his accent even if it did get annoying when Charlie would make fun of it or keep repeating what he said. Charlie was awesome, she didn’t take any crap from anyone and it was funny how she pretty much hated Jackson but then he kept at her until he weaseled his way into her life and she loved it. They became friends after a few heated exchanges, Jackson is one hundred percent focused on football never straying from his plan so he hasn’t ever dated or anything. I really loved his character because it was a breath of fresh air yes he was a jock but the author made his character perfectly. Overall my favorite read so far.
Virgin Hero? Yes, please!
I found another unicorn! That’s what I like to call them anyway. A big hulking virginal football player and a spitfire heroine. I loved Charlie and Jackson. This was sort of an enemies to friends to lovers romance.
I wasn’t crazy about the epilogue. It came full circle with the cafeteria scene, which was cute, but I wanted a peak at their future. Maybe we’ll get that if the series continues? Hopefully. Rodrigo caught my interest.
I loved this book! The narration was great and Jackson and Charlie were adorable. It gave me all the butterflies. This guy was such a sweetheart, I fell for him immediately. He was so awkward but perfect. This was just what I needed.
I think we all have our weird book preferences and I must confess, mine is virgin guys. And guess what, Jackson is A VIRGIN! Jock Road is the latest sports romance by Sara Ney, THE Queen of sports romance, and it follows Triple J whose life is centred around football. Guys, if you like the virgin guy trope, this book is for you. I absolutely adore when the guy is not that experimented, it is so different from what we can usually read.
What makes this book that good is that the characters’ personalities are so different from what we usually get to see from sports romance novels. Jackson is very introvert, he only thinks football and doesn’t really have a life besides that. He has no idea how to act around a girl and doesn’t even know if he can have a girlfriend and still achieve his goals. Charlie is just like the little girls who get super mad but it just make them cuter! She is not the typical jock chaser and that’s maybe why Jackson will like her enough to forget about football for a second.
Their love story is very smooth, I love how ignorant Jackson is about love and sex. It doesn’t make him any less hot and absolute book boyfriend material! He actually has feelings and show them. He does cute things without even knowing it and he is just the absolute best. Charlie is not a sex goddess, but she is absolutely the most experienced one. She is just so understanding with Jackson, never making fun of him and encouraging him to start living a little. All of Jackson’s roommates are hilarious and make Jackson look even more like a little unique and precious thing (but with very very big muscles). The setting of the book is super cute as it is set in autumn and you get all the cozy feels.
So if you are sick of all the female protagonists in romance being innocent virgins, read this book because the reversal of the situation is just so entertaining and Jackson might be one of the best Sara Ney character!
Cute story. Loved the dynamics between them. He’s a large man with softy insides. She’s tough at first. But softens as time passes. Great chemistry between the two. And a fabulous ending.
Sara has once again given me a sweet, funny, sexy couple that I can not help but fall in love with and want to be friends with ! Jackson and Charlie are college students that have a run in on the highway , then the cafeteria and can’t seem to get out of each other’s way. Jackson is a man on a mission , he wants to graduate, play football and hopefully make it to the draft! Charlie is a private gal that really does not date, follow sports to chase after jocks but the moment she connects with Jackson she may find him irritating but is oh so intrigued by him. I loved their cat and mouse getting to know one another and easy conversation ! Charlie is sassy, quick witted and so caring while Jackson is determined cautious and loves to rub Charlie the wrong way with his southern twang !!!

When sweetheart meets sassy!
Jackson is all about football, even if it means stealing some else’s lunch due to practice induced hunger, but it still a sweetheart when he finds himself confronted by sassy and angry Charlotte, the person who’s lunch he stole. I loved the gender flip of inexperienced football player and seduction teacher co-ed. My only complaint is that it felt a little rushed at the end.
Jackson Jennings Jr. Triple J. JJ.
He may look like your average jock. Yeah, he’s 6 + feet of glorious eye candy. Chiseled muscles in a fantastic package but JJ is hiding a lot. He is 110% of focus on football and nothing, No One is going to change that. Or so he thought.
One chance encounter in the cafeteria and JJ is 109% focused. One roadside interaction and now JJ is 95% focused. The more he sees her…the more he wonders.
Sara Ney decided to give us a loveable grump of Southern boy. He has decidedly lacking social graces…with Charlie. But dont be fooled this behemoth of a boy/man man/boy is really a teddy bear at heart. His drawl and accent only magnifies his hotness.
Watch as Charlie fights herself and his cuteness until she can’t anymore. Jock Road may be where it all goes down but it wont end there.
I am addicted to this series and these characters. This was a fun fast paced read. If you are a fan of sports romance look no further.
Charlie and Triple J had an interesting first meeting. I loved their banter. Jackson “Triple J” is one of the best football players at his college and getting ready to go pro. He doesn’t apologize for who he is and usually gets what he wants. Charlie was a fun character full of spitfire and wasn’t expecting Jackson. I loved the relationship between these two.
Jock Road was such a fun read that I devoured. If you are a sports romance fan this is the book for you. Sara Ney is a must read author for me and I recommend this book.
Jock Road is the third book in the Jock Hard Series by Sara Ney.
“Didn’t no one ever tell you some athletes don’t play by the rules?”
I love the Jock Hard series and have been following it for a while and when this came out, I was so ready to meet Triple J and Charlotte. Jock Road was entirely so sweet. It was a college romance and more instal-love. It was so many heartfelt moments that it was so so sweet.
“She stands there, unmoving, letting the simple kiss simmer, tattooing my mouth forever with the imprint of hers. It burns. Singes. Electrifies me.”
Jackson Jennings, Jr, also known as Triple J, is Iowa State’s wide receiver. He literally eat, breathes, and live football. He is absolutely so sweet with a little bit of an innocence vibe. He is a huge and is a nice looking man. Charlotte Edmonds, also known as Charlie, is a fiery and outgoing girl.
“So what if he’s cute? He’s a danger and a menace to society.”
Jackson’s favorite pastime is cruising down the Main Street every Friday nights in his big truck. Unknown to him, his high beams actually is blinding until Charlie decides to let him know about it. This starts their meetings and their budding romance.
“She’s a trifecta of feminine perfection…And she hates my guts.”
This was just so cute. It was refreshing and I love that it was drama free. This was actually very comical and will have you laughing out loud a lot. It was adorable! I can’t wait to see what’s next for Sara Ney.
“Oh, Charlie, if I were the dating kind…I’d date the hell out of you.”
And yet another great book in the Jock Hard series. And if you liked the other books in the series, you definitely will like this one too. It’s everything I could have ever wished for.
Jock Road is a cute read. Jackson Jennings, Jr’s (Triple J) is a big time football player. He has only had football on his mind. While his friends partied and had girls he focused on football. He really has no experience with girls. Instead of partying, he drives his huge truck around Jock Road. There he runs into Charlotte (Charlie). Charlie is funny. She doesn’t take crap from anyone. She’s has very little filter. She’s a fun character. She hate Jackson at first but after running into him more, she starts to like him. I loved their first date and pretty much everything that followed after that. These two are so cute together.
This was a good read, but definitely not my favorite from this author. I’m giving it 3.5 out of 5 stars. This review is for an ARC, and reflects my honest opinion.
I was beyond excited to get another book in this series, because I loved the previous ones. While I did enjoy this, it wasn’t my favorite. I liked both Charlotte (Charlie) and Jackson (Triple J), especially Jackson with his southern roots! I loved the guys on the football team (yay for experiencing another sport from Sara). I liked what we saw of Charlie’s friends, which wasn’t much to be honest. I won’t say much about their families, but I think I would have like Charlie’s if we met them, and Jackson’s sucked.
This book was a little hard to pin down trope wise besides the obvious sports romance. It had a hint of both enemies-to-lovers, and friends-to-lovers. It was slow burn kind of, but I’m not sure I’d even say that since they weren’t admitting feelings and dating for a while. Then it went from 0 to 100 in like a chapter. I thought the pacing was off, and would have enjoyed this more if we actually saw more buildup with them dating. One thing I really liked was how neither of them were very experienced, but she was more than him.
Overall, it was a good read. These two were entertaining, and I loved their back and forth banter. I had high expectations going into this, and unfortunately it fell short. Regardless, I still enjoyed every page. I hope there will be more books in this series in the near future.
I liked how nice and down to earth the football player was. It was interesting that he didn’t have any sexual experience. I automatically read anything Sara Ney writes, she is one of my go to authors.
Jock Road is the third book in this series and what a joy was it to read! It can be read as a stand alone, contemporary, NA sports romance with enemies-to-friends-to lovers trope thrown in.
I have always loved reading from this author and I was huge fan of her How to Date a Douchebag series. Her stories always make me smile, laugh out loud, fall in love, and never fails to make me feel like a college girl again. So, I guess it is safe to say, the same thing happened when I was reading this newest installment.
Jackson and Charlie’s interactions were a fun thing to watch. Their heated bickering hid their growing attraction. It was cute to watch them go at it. I felt like eating a popcorn while they went back and forth with sarcastic wittiness and wait for them to finally acknowledge what they were feeling. I loved the slow build up of their romance and it makes for getting to know each other the more better.
I simply adore Jackson with his strong Southern accent and charm. I swear, I have heart emoji eyes whenever he turns it on and I may have ended fanning myself a bit. He was your hot, sexy, charming (did I say charming?) walking and talking Southern guy. I just couldn’t get enough of him! I guess I should name him my new book boyfriend to this date, LOL.
Jock Road is a fun filled, with tons of humor, sports romance and a perfect read for those romance lovers out there. Couldn’t wait to read more from this book world!
Jock Road by Sara Ney is the third book in her Jock Hard series and was fun, light and charming read. Jackson Jennings’ has been all about football. His father grilled into him the importance of not letting anything interfere with the ultimate goal, football. He has always followed the path set for him. Then he meets Charlotte Edmonds, Charlie, and everything changes.
Charlie was all feisty and speaks her mind. She had no time for the likes of Jackson and made it known. And yet they somehow becomes friends. I loved Jackson’s vulnerability. It made him more real. Pair that with Charlie’s sassiness and telling it as it is, they had no chance! Such a sweet story that will have you smiling as this author does time after time.
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
Another sweet read from Ney. I love how it’s easy to fall into the world and enjoy the quick read. She’s excellent at writing sexual tension and allowing it to build.
Another cheek cramping, grin-fest, sexy binge read from one of my favorites, Sara Ney! Loved!!
Wow! Let me tell you about the smile I had on my face the entire time I read this book! I’ll tell you why: Jock Road reminded me so much of my courtship with my college football player husband (who was also a receiver like Triple J)! Memories…. At any rate, I pink puffy heart Jackson and Charlie so much. Their banter was so hilarious and their awkwardness was so adorable.
A quote I loved:
“You look…” Nice. Gorgeous. Great. Fantastic. Breathtaking. “Fine.”
A low laugh escapes her lips, as if she’s taking pity on how pathetic I am.
“Thanks. You also look…. fine.”
So cute. And so real. Ney knows how to write the spark and the wit. Such a fun meet-cute. As an Okie I can say that she nailed Jackson’s southern accent.
I loved when they (separately) started to realize how much they liked each other.
Another quote I loved:
Not to mention, when he leaned in close and got up in there… he smelled fantastic. Like cologne and shampoo and a bit dirty, like he’d showered but not that well? As if he’d rushed through it, had been so sweaty from working out he couldn’t be bothered to wash it all down the drain.
Like man. A hard-working man who cares more about getting shit done than smelling good doing it.
The whole Jock Hard series is fantastic really- all books can be read as complete standalones. Jock Road absolutely scored for me- I loved it!
