This is the first book I’ve read by Jacob Chance and as much as I liked it, I will definitely be reading more. The characters were believable and sympathetic and I love the Jock’s portrayal as a “real” person not just a football player. If you like sports romance, give this one a read. You won’t be disappointed.
I have to say this is one of my favorite books by Jacob Chance. Just when I thought his last book was my favorite, he out does himself and makes this book even better than Tackle. Owen is adorable, I’ve never swooned on a character but he so sweet, loveable and funny. I think this is the first time I had tears of joy from a book. I’m looking forward to the next installment of this series.
Jock was another fantastic read in the Boston Terriers Series. When Owen Dawson, the quarterback of the Boston Terriers meets Eliza Michel, his smart and beautiful tutor, a match was made. Owen and Eliza were just meant to be. They were two people who upon becoming friends, made a difference in each other’s life. Owen and Eliza had amazing chemistry that kept these pulling these two together.
I loved seeing Owen care for Eliza, wanting to know more and being unable to stop thinking about her just as Eliza was unable to resist Owen once she started getting to know the amazing person that he is. I also loved seeing all the characters from the previous books in this series as well as getting to know Owen and Eliza’s family.
With some twists and turns, Jock was full of humour, romance, feels and drama with a twinge of suspense.
After reading the first four books in this series I couldn’t wait for Owen’s story and it didn’t disappoint.
The blogger who caused chaos for Trevor and grace is back in full force when the blog outs Owen for an affair with his trainer. Sacked from his team a dejected Owen finds out what happens when you need with a married woman. Eliza becomes his tutor to catch up on coursework but their feelings grow. Eliza finds it hard to trust and her past blows up in her face on more than one occasion. I love their connection. It was a great read.
This story of Owen and Eliza is by far my favorite in the series. I liked Owen when I first meet him in Brady and Amelia’s story. In this book we learn more about his depth. He quickly became my newest book boyfriend one I’ll never forget. Owen in not perfect and he owns his mistakes. When he has to pay his penance for breaking football scholarship code of ethics he ends up being beaten near death. While recovering he meets his tutor Eliza a beautiful nerd who wins his heart. This story has so many twists and turns that touch’s every emotion one can feel. The story is a true roller coaster of love, misunderstandings, trust, tears, laughter and most importantly communication. A five plus star read…I can’t wait for the next installment Nolan’s story.
Sighs. I loved this book. It’s so addictive.
The characters are great. The story is sexy, captivating and super entertaining. It’s got some ups and downs. And some tears to be shed. And I loved every page of it. The extended epilogue was an amazing edition to the book.
Eliza and Owen have one messed up relationship. It goes from amazing to nothing on the switch of a dime. She keeps some terrible secrets from him.
Owen, the college football teams quarterback, has pushed his luck with his lady friend. When it all comes to blows, he may never play again.
Eliza helps tutor Owen when things take a turn for the pair. But she holds some secrets that might never be forgivable.
I will be going back through an reading each of the books in the series. It was so good.
5/5. I’d give it a 10/5 if I could. A fantastic story.
5 Stars! What an absolutely amazing book! I felt every emotion and hated when this book ended. Owen and Eliza’s story is hands down my favorite of the Boston Terriers series. This book is s must read!
If you haven’t read any of the other books in the Boston Terriers series, you are seriously missing out on talented, entertaining writing. These books have all the feels and the humor is adorable. That said, you can definitely read Jock as a standalone as with all of the series’ books. Jacob Chance is one of my favorite authors and I am always stalking and looking forward to what he gives us next.
One of my favorite aspects of this book as well as the others in the BT series is that while the characters are flawed, they are likable and fun to experience. The heroines are sassy and wary of these sexy athletes. I don’t blame them one bit but as you get to know these amazing heroes, you will find they are protective, loyal and complete gentleman. While I absolutely love this series and each book has its special place in my heart, Jock has become my absolute favorite. As a blogger, I read and recommend many, many books. That said, I have to say if you have not checked out this author yet you are truly missing out.
Owen is the quarterback for the Boston Terriers. All he wants is to play for the NFL. Unfortunately, some poor decisions have put that dream at jeopardy. Owen is determined to overcome and once again be the force that the Terriers need. Letting his team, and more importantly himself down, will not happen again. I loved that Owen owned his mistakes. He is one of my favorite male heroes, ever.
Eliza was a bit hard for me to connect with at first. But only because she had secrets that she hadn’t told Owen. My first loyalty was to him so I admit wanted to jump onto the pages and knock some sense into her. Eliza was not perfect. She definitely had some parts to her personality that were surprising. That said, I did understand her reasoning and couldn’t completely fault her for her decisions. Hey, that’s what angst is all about. But the way this book ended was nothing short of perfect for me.
I look forward to see who we’ll get to read about next!
This is my honest and unbiased opinion. Thank you for taking the time to read it! 🙂
Mistakes happen for the best sometimes.
JOCK is book 5 in the Boston Terriers Series by Jacob Chance. This is the story of the team’s quarterback Owen Dawson. I really liked Owen. Jacob Chance wrote his character as the typical college student but he did not have the cockiness that jocks are perceived to have. He’s a very likable character who loves to joke around. He lives his family even though a few of them belong to a motorcycle club. He makes a mistake that costs him the rest of the season and almost his life.
Eliza Michel is a woman scorned. She got pregnant at the age of 19 by a football player who denied he was the father. She was broken but thanks to her parents she still was able to go to college. Now she judges all jocks the same. After being asked by the dean to tutor Owen, she fights an internal conflict falling for him and not wanting anything to do with jocks. A series of missteps causes Owen to question their relationship. Eliza was also a likable character. She had reasons for hiding things from Owen.
Through out the book, both Owen and Eliza learn from the mistakes they made. Even though their chemistry is undeniable, mistakes can tear any couple apart. Owen and Eliza are no exception to that. Saying “I’m sorry,” only goes so far. Owning up to and facing the consequences of their mistakes proves to be the best way to go no matter how much it hurts.
If you’re a fan of sports romances, JOCK is a 5 STAR MUST READ. I will admit, I’m not a sports person but I highly recommend this book. Each book in the Boston Terriers Series is a stand-alone.
I’m not sure how it’s possible that Jacob gets better with each book, but he does. I’ve been a fan of his since his debut, and I don’t see that stopping any time soon. Especially when he brings us these beautifully written love stories.
I love Owen, and I was so excited when Jacob announced that he was getting his own Boston Terriers book. I knew that whatever female caught Owen’s attention and kept it would have to be special. That’s where Eliza comes in. She is literally not like any of the other students at BU.
These two characters are so fantastic. Eliza is guarded, but witty. Owen is his usual charming self, but he’s so sincere. They work so well together, and balance each other out in a beautiful way. Jock is told in dual POV, which really gives the reader good insight into each of them.
I’m super excited to see who he brings next in this series, and I have a feeling I know who it will be. In addition to some previous characters making reappearances (which I always love), we get to see more of Owen’s brother Jameson, and I’m hoping beyond hope that Jacob brings us his story one day!
Jock is book 5, but it can be read as a standalone. Though due to recurring characters throughout, I recommend starting with book 1 Penalty.
How does Jacob Chance do it? I fall more and more for the Boston Terriers books. Jock is the absolute favorite!!! I had wanted to read Owen’s story and it was more than I could anticipate. He is our favorite quarter backs for the Boston Terriers. When the school asks Eliza to be a lending arm for Owen’s academics, their first meet is on point! The charisma these two have was unbreakable. And don’t forget we get a lot of steamy scenes in between. This page-turner will have you hooked! Jock is one of the best from Jacob Chance!
OMG….I didn’t think Jacob could write a more swoon worthy character than Trevor from Tackle, but man, I think he just might have. Just finished Jock, which is the next installment in the Boston Terriers series, and I have 2 words: Owen Dawson!! I am head over heels in love with him. As soon as smart, beautiful Eliza Michel is asked to tutor Boston University’s sexy as sin quarterback, Owen Dawson, she knows she is a goner. Quite frankly I was a goner too! This book has all the feels. Its funny, sweet, heartwarming and sexy. All the things I’ve come to love with this series. Plus the banter between the fellas is always fantastic. Gahhhh! If you haven’t checked out this series, you definitely should. But be ready to fall in love.
Okay really hate that Jacob Chance ended this series but man we finally see more of Owen. I loved that yes he is a football jock but we see much more of him with Eliza. We see what he is meant to be and again Jacobs writing and creativity shines in this book. The chemistry they have is beautiful, funny and sexy in a way we don’t see often. This is one series by Jacob Chance that just made me love it more for the Boston Terriers is more than a football team it is a team of brothers we come to love.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
If you thought Trevor was the package, wait until you read Owen! I absolutely love this series & I could not put this book down. This story is so heart touching, you’ll be pulling for Eliza all the way. This story shows how people sometimes choose to do the wrong thing without thinking of the bad because they are so focused on the good it’s doing. You’ll get heartache, laughs & lots of chemistry between Owen & Eliza. I love how they don’t just jump right into sex. This book is well written & I wish I could give it more stars
Goodness, what a great read! I feel Jock is the sweetest (emotional) book out of all the Boston Terrier series-so far, Owen and Eliza may seem opposites but Owen’s maturity in the story makes him and Eliza great together, so many AWW, I just love this guy moments. The ending was so funny and just loved the epilogue, great job Jacob Chance!!
If I had to sum up Jock in one word, it would be WOW! I have loved every book in the Boston Terriers series, but Owen and Eliza’s story stole my heart.
Owen isn’t your typical “jock”, even though he is the Terriers quarterback. He isn’t stuck up and conceited, he’s a very sweet and caring gentleman once you get to know him.
Owen and Eliza face some hardships, both past and present. There is also some secrets that lead to twist and turns throughout the story.
Whether you are a fan of the Boston Terriers series or new to this author I highly recommend Jock to you if you are a romance fan.
Wow, wow, wow! To say that I loved this book would be a huge understatement. I have read and loved this entire series, and no disrespect to the other Terrier boys, but Owen has completely blown them out of the water! Even my own personal favourite, Brady! I always look forward to a new Jacob Chance book knowing full well it will be incredible and with Jock I was completely blown away. Jacob once again shows his unique talent of drawing the reader in from the very first page into his stories and the characters he writes have so much heart and soul, bringing them to life. Because of this, I always feel I’m reading a Jacob book for the first time.
I loved Owen and Eliza’s story. It was filled with friendship, laughter and romance. They were so perfect together. But it isn’t all plain sailing with twists and turns which had me turning those pages non stop. There are some absolute swoon moments, “WTF” moments, plus a major ‘’I did not see that coming” moment. It was these sublime touches which made this story ‘pop’, come alive and added so much essence which made this story so spectacular. Then there are the moments and interactions filled with hilarious one-liners, with Owen’s family (as well as his friends) that will have you rolling with laughter. In fact, both Owen and Eliza had amazing family members and friends.
The twists and turns Jacob delivered reinforced his remarkable ability to write stories that are full of intrigue and unpredictability rendering the reader absolutely speechless! I will go as far to say that this Jacob Chance’s best work to date. It is definitely my favourite! For me, it was beyond perfection and I could not recommend this book enough. I only wish I could give it more than 5 stars!!
Hands down JOCK is one of my favorite Jacob Chance reads! It has everything I look for in a book. You will laugh out loud, gasp, get irritated, and swoon so hard! This book was completely unpredictable and my favorite in the B.T series. I highly recommend you one-click or borrow! I promise you won’t regret it!
WOW Jock blew me away……
The Boston Terrier Series just keeps on getting better with each release and Jacob Chance absolutely nailed this one. It was both brilliantly written and at times was completely unexpected but in the best way possible.
I believe Jock to be THE BEST Book to date for Jacob, he has very quickly secured himself as a brilliant sports romance writer who is not above giving us way more than expected with each Release.
Jock is Owen Dawson’s story and I absolutely adore this one I couldn’t get enough of it. Owen has bumped Zeke off the #1 spot as my favourite Boston Terrier. He is the complete package, man he’s got it all and then some. He’s delicious, a little risqué and a whole lot of dirty fun with a heart of gold.
When Owen needs a tutor and the Dean of the school fixes him up with one of the schools best students Eliza Michel who just happens to be his niece not even he would have been prepared for the sparks that flew between these two. Their story is far from conventional and the details are nothing short of pure genius, I was hooked from the very first page till the last.
I love an Epilogue and the extended one was beyond amazing.
I love this book. Fantastic leads, cleverly written with a flawless storyline.
Highly recommended read.
I have enjoyed reading the entire Boston Terriers series, however Jock just scored the winning touchdown. This instalment was emotional, challenging and witty. It touched on family unity, how tight the bonds we share are and the lengths they go to help one another. For a fleeting moment Owen forgets that his team is similar to family they have each other’s back, he just needs to trust them.
When you least expect it life comes and bites you on the butt. Quarterback Owen gets caught in a sticky situation, finding himself the subject of the Boston Terriers Buzz Blog. His penalty, losing his captaincy, sidelined and embarrassed. After missing some school he is given a tutor to help him catch up. Eliza is a brainiac but even she finds it hard to resist Owens charm. Her preconceived opinion about Owen the Jock is completely unfounded when she gets to know him. She can’t allow herself to fall under his spell though because she has too many responsibilities.
Jock by Jacob Chance is the fifth book in the Boston Terriers series but can be read as a standalone, though it is worth reading every book in the series! I have to say I am loving the men of this series. Sports romances are a top favorite of mine and Jacob delivers a captivating story!
Eliza is smart and determined and not a fan of jocks. School is her number one focus. When the dean asks her to tutor a student, she never expected it to be Owen Dawson. Owen is the quarterback for Boston University. He is popular and heading to the NFL. But he is so much more than just a jock and the more time Eliza spends tutoring him, the more she begins to see that. Though they are opposites, but the more time they spend together, the more they fall.
I have been reading Jacob’s books since his first release and have loved every single one. Jock was a great read! It was sweet and sexy, and I devoured it! A must-read for sure!
4.5 stars! Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
