When Owen Dawson is suspended from Boston U’s football team, then attacked afterward, he is naturally a little down on life. Until he meets the cute girl who’s going to tutor him while he catches up with the schoolwork he missed out on while in the hospital. Eliza has the wrong idea about Owen. She figures he is the typical cocky manwhore football player that all jocks are. Until she starts tutoring him and finds out he’s actually a sweetheart with a huge heart. As the two fall effortlessly into first friendship, then more, I was cheering them on because they were so cute together.
But Eliza had more than one secret she hadn’t let Owen in on and I was cringing because I knew when the bombshells were dropped on him, he wasn’t going to react well, and he didn’t. But it was understandable, because Eliza’s secrets were pretty big, and significant to him in unpleasant ways, especially her last secret. I honestly wanted to shake her for not owning up to things much earlier in their relationship, but I could also understand her perspective, so I was torn. Luckily for her, Owen was more understanding than the average 21-year-old male, and he loved her, so he was able to get past her secrets.
I’ve been lucky lately with the New Adult stuff I’ve been reading because this is the second one that I’ve loved, that is full of depth and heart and wonderful characters. Owen and Eliza and all the secondary cast, are amazing, especially Owen! The man is so damn swoony that it was hard to remember how young he was. I love how gently and patiently he wooed Eliza, and how completely understanding he was. Yes, he reacted pretty badly to her secrets, but he could have reacted much worse and she honestly would have deserved it for keeping such huge things from him. He really is one of the best heroes I’ve read lately. I haven’t read any of the other stories in the Boston Terriers series, but I plan to now that I’ve fallen in love with Owen and his friends!
Love it
Every time I read one of Jacobs books I think he can’t get any better but he does. Owen in my fav. Boston Terrier. This story grabbed me from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down and I cannot wait for Nolan’s story.
OMG I LOVED THIS SO HARD!!!! Sports romance are my favs, and I’ve really liked the other books in this series, BUT this one is by far my fav!
I love how different Eliza and Owen are in this book. Own appears to be the typical jock and Eliza is anything but typical and a nerd. Them being totally different worked soooo well for them, and it really helped them click. They really were not what I expected, both of them, it was so refreshing! I loved that Owen wasn’t the “typical” jock, just like the other guys, but he seemed more “normal” than the others. And Eliza, she was soooo full of surprises. Their reactions to each other were great too, neither of them really expected the other to be who they were.
One of my favorite parts of this book were that we got to see some of the other characters, especially some from Canvas. I love how he tied the stories together! The other favorite part were the surprises we constantly got thrown us! There were so many things about Owen and Eliza that I never expected. I find myself constantly gasping in delight and excitement!! Now, it doesn’t take much to excite me, but I loved these surprises so much. And of course emotions, we had a really good range of emotions, and that’s always important to me. We had full ranges here, especially with the surprises we got. Especially at the end. I REALLY hope we get to see more of these two!!!
Oh my GOSH what a story! Are the exact words I spoke out loud as I finished the last sentence. I have been hooked on the Boston Terriers Series from the beginning and even though they’re all standalone books I’ve read them all as they were released. I didn’t think the previous stories could be topped but here we are with Jock and I’m blown away with Owen and Eliza. Their story is filled with friendship, laughter, romance and even a little emotional coaster ride for a bit that will have you turning those pages non stop. There’s so much more to someone then meets the eye and when you take the time to get to know them you’ll be amazed at what you’ll find out. I won’t give anything away but you NEED to grab your copy now and bump this book to the top of your list. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
What can I say about this book….Absolutely Amazing. If you haven’t read this series you are missing out. It takes us through the life and times of these college guys who want to find just the right amount of l8ve, happiness, friendship and trust. But they have to take long roads to get there. In this one we meet Owen and Eliza…two people who have had some bad relationships but overcome it when they find that they are what each other needs. I want to say that you need to read this book series. You will not be disappointed. I want to say to Jacob Chance that I’m a true fan and I can’t wait for what’s next. Soon please! I happily give this book 5+ stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader’s Copy.
Oh man this book is remarkable. Owen and Eliza are remarkable. Yup I used that word again. There is so much to this is book that I wanted to read it in one day, but I couldn’t. I’m not going to say much more. This is one journey you don’t want to miss. The writing and flow of this book is top notch. I absolutely recommend this book.
He was a JOCK. She’s just the nerdy girl. They say opposites attract…Owen and Eliza were perfectly matched!
Being back with the Boston Terriers is like coming home again. A series with a great group of characters and I look forward to each player’s story.
Owen is not what I expected; he was so much more! The author definitely took me by surprise more than once.
Owen just made a mess of his life and possibly his future. Now he’s living with the consequences. It’s time to get his life back.
Owen’s back at school, but he’s been assigned a tutor…Eliza. Eliza is not his typical type. She’s smart, driven and not at all athletic. The two have an easy camaraderie and enjoy time together. Owen wants more than just help with homework, now he just needs to convince Eliza.
Eliza and Owen had a connection, but Eliza’s her own worst enemy. Owen is good for her and she deserves someone who is good to her. Now it’s up to her to hold onto that.
So many sweet moments, an unforgettable first date but also alot of past hurts. A story of embracing the person you want be and finding a love that not only completes you, but makes you better.
The Boston Terriers is quickly becoming one on my favorite Jacob Chance series. The story-lines are all very intriguing and will have you wondering just which way things are going to go as well as being very believable. Even though these are a works of fiction, the events are things that could easily happen in real life and the characters are all people we can relate to and feel like we know them. These things make the series so enjoyable and are very prevalent in Jock.
Jock is Owen’s story. He is the QB of the Boston Terriers that has a bright future ahead of him. Scouts from the NFL have him on their radar and of course he’s very popular with the ladies. He seems to have the world by the tail. Right up until he makes one bad choice. A choice that lands him in the hospital and missing several days of school, as well as, his shot with the Terriers. When Owen gets out of the hospital, he’s behind in all his classes and the dean has demanded he have a student tutor to help him, at least in the academic part of his problems. That tutor turns out to be Eliza. A young woman with a bad taste in her mouth for Jocks. While tutoring Owen, Eliza is determined to just help him with his work but yet she can’t help but like his funny jokes and quirky smile. But little does Owen know, Eliza has her own secrets that she doesn’t want the world to know, at least not at this point in her life.
Jock is very well written and packed full of emotions. The reader can’t help but fall in love with Owen and Eliza and root for any type of happy ending for both of them. I can easily recommend Jock and the Boston Terrier series. 2 Thumbs Up for a great 5 star read.
If you want a funny, romantic story with a few twists and all the feels, you need to read Jock. Owen and Eliza’s story had me surprised, laughing, crying and feeling all the love! Owen is hilarious, romantic and crazy handsome with those green eyes and Eliza is quirky, cute, sexy and beautiful and them together make a great team. This authors never lets me down, this series is amazing from the first turn of the page!
Loved this one. Owen is a favorite of mine. He did not deserve the shit that happened to him but it worked out. Him and Eliza were so cute together. Eliza made some choices that I don’t really agree with but I can somewhat understand. This book has some really cute and funny moments. Owen gets personal with a turkey and he is adorable with Beatrice. This book has everything you want. What we really NEED though is for Jameson to get a book of his own.
What can I say, this series just keeps getting better with every book. I absolutely loved Eliza and Owen I also loved seeing more of the Dawson family, if you haven’t read Josh and Ellie’s story you need to go read Canvas, and the Terriers I loved from the previous books.
And while I love love love Owen and Eliza I still really enjoy the “bromance” between Owen and Trevor. If fact all the guys have such a great friendship and I like how they support one another.
But back to Eliza a Owen.. These two stole my heart from the start. The way just seem to be made for one another, even though their like complete opposites. And how they came into each other’s lives at just the right time, it was serendipitous. I wish this book was a movie so my friends that don’t like to read can see their story, but I can re-read it anytime I want (and I will). Also I must admit I was caught by suprise by the tiny twist, but in a good way, and it was an unpredictable revelation.
Jock is hilarious, heartwarming, and just the right blend of heat and sweet. It’s everything a great romance novel, be it sports or any other kind, should be. This is a definite must read book, and series. I am adding the Boston Terriers Series to my top 5 series of all time. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, and then reread the entire series all over again.
I’ve enjoyed this book so much. I skipped book 1 to 4, but it can be read as a stand-alone. And now I can’t wait to read from the 1st book of the series till the 4th book. Book 6 will be out on Feb,2019 and I can’t wait to for the release!
I really enjoyed this story. A great slow build up between a female tutor and a live-by-the-seat-of-your-pants football player.
