She can’t let him score…Call it superstition, but when a guy bats as hot as Brooks Elliott, you don’t mess with what’s working. And what’s working is him keeping his pants zipped and doing all of his scoring on the field. So when I hear he’s planning to ditch his V-card now that he’s been traded to baseball’s lovable losers—aka my home team and my reason for living every March through October—I … living every March through October—I do what any rational, dedicated, obsessed fan would do.
I make a plan to stop him.
But the thing about stopping him is that it requires spending time with him.
Lots. And lots. And lots of time.
And the more time I spend with him, the more I like him. Not as the guy who’s going to help save my favorite team and finally bring home a championship ring, but as the guy who’s helping me in my quest to bring back the team’s old mascot. Who also loves making pancake and bacon sandwiches. And who would do almost anything for his love of the game.
But after all this time of jock-blocking him…do I even have a chance?
And if I do, are we both destined to a life of celibacy in the name of winning?
Jock Blocked is a home run of a feel-good romantic comedy featuring the world’s most superstitious sports fan, baseball’s oldest virgin hero, a rogue meatball, an adorable puppy with a cussing problem, and the best lovable losers. It stands alone and comes with a happily ever after more satisfying than a game-winning grand slam.

Pippa Grant does it again. I have never had an author make me smile, giggle, snort laugh and groan all at the same time before. This books brings back old friends and makes you question all the possibilities of superstitions!
Once again, Pippa Grant has hit it out of the park. Literally. Jock-Blocked is about a losing baseball team, a player who has been traded away from his home team and an obsessed fan. Okay, come on, this is Pippa Grant we’re talking about. The team is under new management, they’ve gotten rid of the previous mascot, a dragon, and they’re having a competition between a duck, a dragonfly, an echidna (a what?), and a flaming meatball. The new player, Elliot, is the oldest virgin in baseball because he believes if he loses his virginity it will destroy his game. And the obsessed fan is Mackenzie, the supreme believer in superstition, the girl who goes mute if she even gets close to her superheroes, the baseball “gods”. The girl who will do almost anything to save the team, the dragon, and Elliot, who really doesn’t want to be saved. He just wants to get a life. It’s a rollicking, rollercoaster of a ride as you watch Elliot try to score, Mackenzie try to stop him, a runaway mascot, an adorable cussing puppy and a whole cast of quirky family and friends to join in the madness. So grab the book, relax, and enjoy the fun. Just make sure you run to the bathroom when the batter is up so he doesn’t strike out!
What a fun read! I was hooked right from the start with this one. Grant is quickly becoming one of my favorite go to authors when I am looking for a Rom-Com that is sure to have me swooning hard and falling madly in love at the same time. She never disappoints!
Mackenzie and Brooks are amazing together. I couldn’t get enough of them. Their story is full of hilarious antics and steamy chemistry that will keep you turning the pages because you just have to know what they will do next.
I absolutely loved this one and I can’t wait to see what Grant will bring us next!
Pippa Grant strikes again with her new release Jock Blocked. I loved Coco Puff’s collar (both versions) – first the swearing and then the second spouting happiness. Meaty the Meatballs travels were fun as well as the mascot competition. The pickup baseball game was great. And I like that Pippa also included characters from her other books – the Berger brothers make an appearance. Both of the epilogues were EPIC!!! When you want to read something that is going to make you laugh constantly along with an HEA definitely pick a Pippa Grant book! And…Fiery Forever!
I can’t get enough of Mackenzie.
Her smile.
Her devious side.
Her belief in the team.
Her belief in me.
Now I don’t know anything about baseball. I’m a kiwi, we play cricket. But I do understand the appeal of those pants. And let’s be real. A virgin hero? That’s basically a unicorn in romance novels.
Brooks Elliot is the youngest brother of Parker Elliot of Stud in the Stacks and Rhett Elliot from The Hero and the Hacktivist. He’s a baseball player who is actually really good thanks to his lucky charm of not getting lucky. Unfortunately, he has been traded to the Fireballs, who are the worst team in the league. So, what’s he gonna do but lose those V-Plates? Cause they’re not going to help him win, not when the Fireballs are just so terrible already.
Tell me all you want that the new ownership and the new management and the new coaches will make a difference for the Fireballs this year, but there are two things I know for damn certain:
One, curses are real in baseball.
And two, my game goes to sh*t anytime I get past second base with a woman.
Enter Mackenzie Montana, adopted daughter of two drag queens and the biggest fireballs fan ever. She’s a trash engineer and is determined to use every ounce of smarts to stop Brooks from having sex. Mackenzie is as superstitious as they come and the idea of Brooks screwing up his luck just does not mesh with her world view. Unfortunately for her, she can’t talk to ‘gods’.
So, with some help from Cooper Rock (I love him so much), she finds her voice and starts ‘Jock Blocking’ Brooks. Starting with stealing a mascot (SPIKE THE ECHIDNA HAD BETTER WIN THE MASCOT COMPETITION), and continuing with some weird humming, interesting dog collars and a home makeover. This book also includes cameos from Parker and Knox, and Rhett and Eloise. And of course, that is hilarious because whenever you mix Parker’s autocorrect weirdness and Eloise’s hacking ability…
“This is happening, Mackenzie. You and me. Turns out, being crazy is genetic. You have to. You have to do this for your team. You have to do me for your team.”
Mackenzie and Brooks have an awfully slow burn type relationship. Partly because Mackenzie struggles to talk to baseball players and the fact that she doesn’t want to sleep with him in case it ruins Brooks’ game. Brooks meanwhile wants her, doesn’t want to be on the Fireballs, but also starts to wonder if maybe it wasn’t the sex, but the sex with the wrong girl that was screwing with his game.
Yep. He’s the a**hole. “Out. No bacon for you. You’re done.”
“I’m being serious, Mackenzie. What if you’re my one?”
Jock Blocked was hilarious, it was classic Pippa Grant hilarity, and I loved it. I really think this was one of her best. I can’t wait to see these two pop up in future books (especially if Cooper Rock gets a book).
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
Mackenzie is one of THOSE fans. You know. The crazy fanatic that abides by her superstitions to a t. That’s why Brooks Elliott catches her in the act of stealing the mascot and why she cock blocks him when he’s trying to hook up and lose his v card. Yeah…
Can Mackenzie keep Brooks from hooking up to preserve his hitting? To keep her favorite team from spiraling? But what about when spending time with him means she starts *gasp* liking him? Starts wanting to be the one who relieves him of his v-card?
“Because you’re the sunshine my life has been missing.”
Weeee!!! That’s what I felt as I was reading Jock Blocked. It’s so much fun, so sweet, witty as hell, and hot to boot. I absolutely loved it. Brooks is the cutest, sweetest guy to come along in a long time, and Mackenzie is crazy and quirky and absolutely the best woman to jock block and fall in love with, equally awesome Brooks. This is filled with Pippa’s signature witty dialogue, quirky characters, and chemistry that practically blew up my Kindle.
There is something so uniquely awesome about a Pippa Grant book. You know when you read one you will get over the top, awesome characters, some crazy animals, you will probably hear about some giant hockey playing twins named after Greek Gods, you will also most definitely laugh your butt off the entire book and most likely snort a time or two. Jock Blocked is no exception. This is the first book in the Copper Valley Fireballs series but we are still treated to some of our most favorite characters from other books including Beck Ryder and the rest of Bro Code, Cooper Rock and of even a cow-dog. This book is about Brooks Elliot, the baseball playing virgin brother of Parker and Mackenzie, the superstitious baseball loving best friend to Sarah. There are so many hilarious moments in this book that I would advise you not read this book in public. It also has one of the sweetest love stories I have ever read. You do not want to miss this book. I am very excited at the prospect of getting a Cooper book and cannot wait for this series to continue!
**I was generously provided with a free advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for my fair and honest review**
Brooks and Mackenzie – Oh My Goodness these two were fabulous. Slightly crazed super fan Mackenzie is not going to let Brooks lose his v-card if that means her team is going to keep losing! She thinks Brooks’ game needs to stay top notch to pull her team out of the dumps and is going to make sure he makes it happen. Of course that might require her to actually talk to a baseball player. Watching these two fall in love when they aren’t supposed to was a fabulous and fun read. Pippa Grant always has her characters in the most unique shenanigans and this story does not disappoint!
I loved this book so much. I love baseball so I was all over this. Pippa Grant hit this one out of the park. I fell in love with Mackenzie in Sarah’s book and I’ve been waiting for her to get her own a book. The wait was so worth it. I love Mackenzie’s quirky personality and I understand her love for her home team. I couldn’t put this one down. I laughed from start to finish. If you’re looking for a feel good hilarious book look no further. This book may bring the laughs, but it also delivers on the heat and feels. I loved Brooks and Mackenzie together. The best way to describe them is they just fit. Their banter was one of my favorite parts of book. You’re going to fall in love with Coco Puff. That little dog made me laugh so hard. I loved all the cameos from different characters from the Pippaverse. That is a huge highlight for me. The very very end of the book is so absolutely perfect. I’m not gonna lie I had a tear in my eye and a smile on my face. This is a must read!!!!
I am a sucker for sports romance and make it a rom-com and I am living for this. Jock Blocked had me snort laughing from the very beginning. I kid you not I have not laughed so much while reading a book since I don’t even know when.
Mackenzie is, well there are no words to describe how much I love her. She is awkward, passionate, and hilarious. She loves the Fireballs. She is devoted to the team and will do anything to make sure they have a great season. Her love for them oozes out of the pages. You can feel her passion for the team. Brooks, the superstitious virgin. He has a reason to be superstitious and unfortunately for him the teams number one fan also knows his little secret.
I loved the banter between Mackenzie and Brooks. It was hilarious and adorable. They have amazing chemistry and I loved watching their relationship progress. The secondary characters in this book were also amazing and added so much to the story, plus A LOT of hilarious scenes, especially the group texts between Brooks and his siblings. The rest of the Fireball’s were also amazing. Pretty much there isn’t a character I didn’t love in this book.
Jock Blocked is a MUST READ, especially if rom-com sports romances are your jam! #FieryForever
Okay okay so THIS one is my favorite Pippa Grant book. Each time I read one of her new releases I think “this is the one”, but THIS one is really it. Mackenzie is so quirky you just can’t not love her and Brooks is sweet, funny and smoldering. Such a fun read!
FIVE fiery dragon, over the top, hysterical stars!
“Normal and I haven’t ever shared a glance. We might’ve passed on the street once, but we pretended like we didn’t see each other. It was awkward. For everyone.”
I love Pippa’s books, but this book? Pippa totally hit it out of the park with this one! Also, I’m so sorry Knox, but Brooks Elliott is officially my favorite Pippa Grant Book Boyfriend.
“Three billion women in the world, and I’m seeing green over one who’s quirkier than half my family put together.”
Jock Blocked is the story of Brooks Elliott, professional baseball player and 30 year old virgin; and MacKenzie Montana, the Copper Valley Fireballs’ biggest and most superstitious fan. And because she knows Brooks’ secret, Mac is determined to make sure his…ahem…innocence stays intact. Mac, the girl who can’t string a coherent sentence together around baseball players, has no issue going head to head with Brooks. But what she doesn’t expect is to fall for the man beneath the uniform.
“Don’t we all want to be perfect to someone? And loved for who we are under the jerseys we wear?”
What follows is a story filled with superstitious ball players, kickass drag queens, an epic mascot showdown, sizzling hot chemistry, and an adorably foul-mouthed puppy! Oh, and one over-the-top, hit you right in the feels love story.
“He made me a bacon-Nutella sandwich on pancakes. Be still my beating heart, he made me a masterpiece.”
SO MANY FEELS!
Jock Blocked is hysterical. I laughed so hard, I had tears. The dialogue between these two is witty and comical, but it is also honest and real. Throw in a little Cooper Rock and cameos from some of our favorite Pippa-verse characters, and you have one epic, must-read sports romcom!
I swear Pippa just keeps getting better and funnier with each book! The Copper Valley Baseball series is sure to be an absolute delight.
Pippa has done it again,Jock-blocked is by far my FAVORITE so far in the Pippaverse!!! You never know what kinda of shenanigans her characters our going to get into. This book was so amazing, I couldn’t put it down, I had to know was Brooks going to loose IT, or was he going to be blocked at every attempt he made. Brooks is normal baseball player except for the simply fact that he still has his v-card. Mackenzie is a super fan when it comes to her fireballs, and she is doing everything she can to bring back her favorite mascot, Fiery the dragon. But when she hears and sees Brooks coming onto a woman at the stadium while she is dressed up as Meaty she knows that it’s her job to make sure it doesn’t happen, because if he sleeps with someone they won’t win, and her team needs to win. Mackenzie is determined that he will not make a move on a woman and she will make sure of it. Brooks is horrified that people know his secret, but doesn’t mine the attention of Mackenzie, even if he thinks she is a little crazy. Brooks tries to stay mad at her but decides he will play his own game, getting her into his bed. Will these two grow together because of the love of the game or will they take this game to far?? Believe me if you want a good funny romance this is the book for you, it was amaze balls!!!
5 grand slams
Baseball is 100% hard work and about 150% superstition. The 1st baseman hits a homer to win the game, he wears those dirty socks the rest of the season. The catcher throws out a guy at home, he sticks with the mint flavored gum, etc. Guy can’t hit when he’s messed around with a girl, he stays a virgin all through his career. Brooks Elliott is tired of being the only virgin in baseball and since his beloved team traded him to the worst team in baseball, he figures it time to shed that particular distinction. Moving to Cooper Valley to be part of the Fireballs is the rock bottom of Brooks’ career, so it’s about time to get freaking laid!
But he’s never met MacKenzie Montana, baseball lover extraordinaire and the Fireballs biggest (aka obsessive) fan. When MacKenzie meets Brooks while stealing the mascot costume (hilarious!), things get awkward. But when she interferes with his makeout session, things get crazy. MacKenzie grew up LOVING baseball, it was a safe place where she truly beloved to a team, so for her, it’s only natural to devise a plan to ensure the Fireball’s newest acquisition does his part for a winning season, even if that means she has to make sure he keeps his pants on.
This book is frigging hysterical! Like “my face hurts from grinning and laughing” hysterical. Like I was reading at 4am hysterical. I grew up an avid baseball fan as well and this book takes me straight to the ballpark for a hotdog and $5 Dr. Pepper! MacKenzie and grumpalicious Brooks were ridiculously adorable trying to resist each other and even more adorable when they couldn’t! Her antics and his pranks made me laugh out loud so many times! Add in their crazy friends and family and it just doesn’t get any better. I loved everything about this book and cannot wait for more from Cooper Valley!

Spectacular!
Another home run from Pippa Grant! I love baseball, and I love Jock Blocked!
Brooks Elliott is baseball’s oldest virgin and he is looking to shed that title after getting traded to Copper Valley’s Fireballs baseball team. He’s hurt and angry after believing he’d spend the rest of his career in his home state of New York, and at his beloved home team. Brooks figures he has nothing to lose by blowing up all his superstitions.
Mackenzie Montana is the Fireball’s biggest fan, and she honestly believes that she can break the team’s losing streak by protecting Brooks from himself, if you know what I mean. Together, Brooks and Mackenzie are THE most adorkable and endearing couple I have ever read about. There is so much to love about this book, including the superstitions, the players, the puppy, the dads, the mascots, the drag queens, the food, the texts, the friends, the families, the car…
If you love baseball and all its shenanigans and superstitions, you’ll love this book! Although it’s set in Pippa’s Copper Valley world, it reads like a stand alone, give it a shot!
Pippa Grant never disappoints! If you have not read any of her books, what are you waiting for???
This book follows Brooks and Mackenzie, two characters united in their love of baseball. At least you think they would be, but Brooks is having a bit of a crisis. After living for the game his whole life, including remaining a virgin due to a lot of crazy superstitions, he was traded away from his home and family and picked up by the team with the worst record in baseball. Mackenzie is a crazy Fireballs fan and has done some off-the-wall things in an effort to wish her team some wins. And nothing seems crazier than keeping Brooks a virgin once he decides she may be the one.
I love that both characters really care about their friends and family, even when they are driving them nuts. They are both good, kind-hearted people who want the best for each other. You are cheering them on the whole way threw this book. They find love with each other and rediscover their love of the game along the way.
If you have read Pippa’s other books, some of your favorite characters make cameos in this one. To get the full Pippa experience, read her books in order but you will love them no matter what.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy for an honest review.
Jock Blocked is just plain fun! Pippa Grant knocked it out of the park with another Grand Slam. The characters are larger than life, and the story is so hilarious you will be wiping your eyes. Jock Blocked has the ingenious and absolutely perfect combination of innocence and insanity all packed together with heart-thumping chemistry, and topped off with the sweetest happily ever after. Even if you don’t love sports romance, you will after you read Jock Blocked. There is a depth to these characters that makes you want to kiss them, slap them, and root for them all at once.
Mackenzie is the fireballs biggest fan. She is willing to go to extreme measures to save her home team’s mascot. She is also willing to do just about anything to help them end their losing streak. When Brooks gets traded to the league’s worst baseball team, he loses his passion for winning. He resolves to break his superstitions, which are directly tied to how well he plays the game. He decides that performing in the bedroom is more important than his performance on the field. When Mackenzie stumbles upon his plan, and his secret, she makes it her personal mission to save him from himself and the team’s chance at winning. Neither of them plans on falling in love.
A fantastically fun rom-com, Jock Blocked (Copper Valley Fireballs Book 1) is laugh-out-loud funny, super-happy feel good, and achingly sexy. With two incredibly likable characters and an unforgettable dog, this book is a must read! (And that’s not even mentioning the meatball…)
Who’d have thought a campaign to reinstate a dragon to his rightful place whilst preventing a lucky virgin from giving said virginity away would lead to the luckiest pairing of self doubt and madness to exist outside of Duggan Field?
Pippa has done it again, by creating a story revolving around a pair of doubters who overcome, excel and win. The story is peppered with sightings of some of Pippa’s other characters including Parker texts, Eloise inspired gifts, the drag Dads, even the Berger twins make an appearance. The icing on the cake is the inclusion of a cute little fur ball who has his own imperfections but is also a superhero.
Absolutely fantastic story, wouldn’t expect anything else.
Brooks and MacKenzie’s story is absolutely delightful and just what you need in your life right now.
Mackenzie is a Fireballs FAN submerged in a FANDOM so deep she’s elevated her hometown baseball players to gods and is leading a campaign to bring back the retired Fireballs mascot. Mackenzie is basically about every sports fan I’ve know from my hometown of Philly, because she’s that passionate about the diamond. Mackenzie is starstruck by the Fireballs players but she tries with them, she gets nervous and tongue tied when she attempts to talk to them. It’s definitely a Six Degrees of Kevin BACON situation because of Mackenzie’s friend Sarah’s connections to the Fireballs; that connection puts Mackenzie in close proximity to the players. She mets Brooks Elliott who was traded from New York, his hometown team, to The Fireballs. Brooks is a little lost, maybe even a little depressed. He is a good player but recently he’s been feel less than passionate about his job and he’s in a mild slump.
Enter Mackenzie, she’s very invested in the team for so many reasons, but let’s just say it’s a comfort place for her where she feels she belongs; she grew up a Fireballs fan, and she and Brooks form a friendship of sorts that revolves around Brooks superstitious virgin status and Mackenzie making sure he maintains that status for the good of the team. Yes, Mackenzie is that fan, you know you’ve met them, the ones who do certain rituals or routines with the confidence that their players will make contact with the ball, hit a grand slam, or win the game just because said fan ate a hotdog with chili and cheese during the 3rd inning; when thinking of Mackenzie, multiply that fan times 1000.
Anyway, Brooks is just adorable and Mackenzie is even cuter. I love these two as much as Mackenzie loves The Fireballs! Their story is fun, and we get visits from favorites characters, including cameos of some hockey players.
What I love about Jock Blocked: the story, a 30 year old virgin, the puppy, the puppy’s collar, Mackenzie’s Dads, Parker Parker’s text messages and how she’s finding a way around it, Knox’s text messages, a 30 year old virgin (it should be mentioned twice) and all of the snort laugh parts of this story. Surprises, because there’s a few wonderful ones in this book. Cooper Rock-man I love him. And the mascots…which is still a question! And this is a baseball story, America’s past time, and frankly, as I read, I can smell the grass, the caramel corn, hot dogs and the $15 parking fee-oh, wait, I can’t smell the parking fee, but it’s money well spent!
This book has a 30 year old virgin (yup, it does) a passionate hometown team girl, a group of mascots and all the snort laughs you can handle and a tiny bit of happy tears too. All in all, this book was just what I needed right now, today, because happiness, springtime and opening day won’t go away and if you’re a baseball fan, the sound of ball making contact with the bat of your favorite player is 100% a soul filling, renewing sound that shouts spring summer and fall. Oh, and the mascots…but Just two words: Phillie Phanatic, because, because!
