Jilted by Tess Thompson is the 9th book in the Cliffside Bay series. I loved reading Sophie’s story, as I’ve wanted to get to know her since she was first introduced. It was fun getting to know her and Nico throughout Ms. Thompson’s newest book. From the first page to the last, it felt like the family and friends of Cliffside Bay were welcoming me back to their town! Ms. Thompson has a way of making her characters come to life, Judi Coventry being no exception!
Each of the Cliffside Bay books can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading them all, in order. It makes it so much more fun, you get to know all the characters as you go along.
Thank you to the author and publisher for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
It’s always wonderful to read another Cliffside Bay story. While this can be read as a stand alone I highly recommend reading at least a couple of the other books in the series to get a more complete picture of the characters and setting. Will be sad to see this series ending but can always reread them. Looking forward to more exciting HEAs from this author.
Thanks go to the author and publisher for the advanced reader copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
I love the artistry of Tess Thompson’s writing. Its such a joy to receive an ARC to this new addition to the Cliffside Bay Series. Once again she centers her attention on two characters and mends their hesitation to let down their walls and accept that they just might be meant to be with each other. Nico and Sophie have been circling around each other and nursing the past relationships that tainted their view of the “L” word. In Jilted, Tess brings Nico and Sophie to the forefront first giving Sophie the wherewithal to finally pursue Nico who has seized her attention since he walked into the Oar. Sophie is just 22 and Nico is “much older” – in his 30s. Nico is running from his past – a relationship that turned bad and fears any new relationship might be as ill-fated.
The book is such a joy to read…..simple, sweet, a bit hot. This reader wants to buy a little house in Cliffside Bay and just wait for the next book. Watch. And read through the journey Tess takes Nico and Sophie through…..it makes you believe you can conquer anything – even a stubborn man locked in his past.
Another trip to Cliffside Bay… It’s always an experience that I look forward too.
Since she was a very young girl Sophie knew who she was suppose to be with when she grew up. She knew who her soulmate would be. Not his name, but exactly what he looked like down to his dog. Sophie had grown up with two loving parents who doted on her and loved her no matter what. They had adopted her when she was just a baby.
Nico was a broken man. He didn’t know what it was to be loved so unconditionally and completely so it was quite scary for him to believe that Sophie or anyone could do that. His life growing up was quite unpleasant and didn’t have the love that he definitely deserved. His engagement had fallen apart when his fiancé left him for her best friend. He has definite trust issues.
Love lives in Cliffside Bay. Everyone there is happy and carefree in their own way. These two will go through a lot to find true love but in this area it has to work out. They can travel the world and still come back to Cliffside to be home again. Theirs is a love story that a lot of us may can relate to. Finding that special someone and fighting for it. Never giving up. Never letting anyone make you feel differently about the love of your life.
I love the characters in this series and maybe have a new favorite after reading this one. I absolutely loved Judi. She is one heck of a woman. What she does for Nico and Sophie is beyond just being a friend.
This book has some laughter, anger, scary parts and mostly lots of kisses and love. It’s perfect just the way I read it. It’s such a good love story and is so authentic in the way it’s told that you will feel like you are right there. Or at least feel.. It’s a true love story from start to finish. A touching story of two people who may not have been if not for the unrelenting love that one young lady has for someone who thinks he is to old for her. Sophie just doesn’t give up. She knows who she was meant to be with and with someone’s help goes for him with all she has.
I have to give this awesome book 5 stars and a high recommendation. Thank you to Tess Thompson for the ARC. This my own feelings and thoughts about this book and in no way reflects anything else.
Isn’t love grand!!!!
I’m always willing to give a new to me author a try and had never read anything by Tess Thompson, so I decided to give this next Cliffside Bay series book a try. Maybe it’s because I jumped into the series so late, but I just couldn’t really connect with the plot or the characters. The writing wasn’t bad, but I felt like there wasn’t much emotion despite what could have been several very emotional scenes. Although I will admit there is one scene that the author totally delivered on how intense and full of action it needed to be. Jilted is a sweet romance book, but I’ve read plenty of sweet romances that were rip your heart out emotional and based on the blurb, I had high hopes that this one would be just that. I have found that when my life is crazy, or I’m in a book slump, sometimes this will happen no matter how good the story or the author is, so I’m not quite ready to give up on this story or this author’s writing style. When I don’t connect with a book or an author’s style the first time I read them, I will usually try one more time when my head is in a better place, so hopefully, when I do that, this book will speak to me a bit louder.
NICUnurse’s Rating: All in all, the book wasn’t terrible, but t also wasn’t the best one I’ve read lately. I did finish it, but it took me several days because I kept getting distracted because I wasn’t pulled deeply into the plot or invested in the characters or the outcome. If I’m really invested in a book, I can usually finish a full-length novel in about 4-5 hours. Unfortunately, this one took me about 4-5 days to finish. I really wanted to love this book, but in the end, it was simply OK. It wasn’t what I’d consider a waste of my time and investment…it just fell a bit short for me. I think this book would be great for someone who’s looking for a story that’s a sweet romance more like a Hallmark movie, but I was hoping for a bit more. And if you’ve read the entire series, unlike me, you’ve probably been really anticipating this book. While it didn’t land high on my list of books that I like, maybe you’ll love it….
I give Jilted: Nico & Sophie by Tess Thompson 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Ok wow what can I say about this one. So much going on in this one. It is an emotional storyline that plays out between Nico and Sophie. Sophie has a dream when she is a little girl about the man of her dreams. She knows that when she meets Nico that he is the one for her. But Nico doesn’t see it that way because of the age difference. But there is so much more than that going on with these two. It was a well written storyline with two amazing characters that you cant help but to love. I absolutely loved Sophie and her stubbornness and determination to make her life what she wants it to be. Even when she goes through something horrible. Tess impressed me with this storyline providing me with two characters that showed emotion and were very interesting to read about and cheer for. A great addition to this series.
Tess Thompson delivers another heartwarming story in her Cliffside Bay series. Since Sophie and Nico were introduced earlier in the series, I highly recommend you read the Cliffside Bay books in order. Sophie had a premonition of the man she was going to marry when she was very young. Imagine her surprise when that man walks into her bar. Nico however feels he is much too old for her and fights the feelings he has for her very hard. He does whatever he can to push her away. Loved how this story came together and how the two of them found a way to get through their fears to find true love. Judi Coventry – what a spitfire! Looking forward to reading more! I will be sad when this series ends – although it does hint of a spin off! Thank you to the author and publisher for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
Tess Thompson did it again! Loved being pulled in Cliffside Bay to meet my old friends and especially Nico and Sophie! Another sleepless night because I couldn’t put it down! Love story in it’s purest and truest form. Soulmates. Second chance love. Fighting and facing inner demons, insecureties, self esteem issues and fears to finally accept love of their lives.
The story line is original and so lovely with some turns and unexpected twists.
It was an awesome addition to meet Mrs.Coventry. Such a great character! Loved her so much.
Thank you Tess Thompson for another great story!
Jilted by Tess Thompson is as usual another wonderful book! This story follows Sophie and Nico and how old hurts can really screw up someone and make them believe they are not worthy of happiness. This was a book I couldn’t put down from start to finish. I believe anyone will love it as much as I did.
Thank you to the author and publisher for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
For those who have ever been jilted, it hurts and will often leave internal scars that for some, never heal. Tess Thompson’s newest book, Jilted: Nico and Sophie, is a romantic love story that I have been waiting to blossom ever since Sophie arrived to Cliffside Bay. Ms. Thompson not only brings to light Nico and Sophies’ past life experiences but she creatively intertwined several other residents from Cliffside Bay into the story who have been jilted in the past. The private stories of all that are revealed are emotionally touching and so true to life. I can’t wait for the next book in this exciting Cliffside Bay series!
I am a huge fan of this Cliffside Bay series and Jilted is a perfect addition!
Sophie had a dream as a little girl and knows down deep in her heart that Nico is the man she is destined to love. She believes in a happily ever after, but convincing Nico is definitely going to take some work.
Nico is one of the most frustrating characters I have read in a long time. He just can’t see beyond his past relationship, his parents disappointment in him and his feeling of being unworthy of happiness and love. He has all the goodness right in front of him with Sophie, but he seems to be willing to walk away using their difference in age as his excuse. He does truly care for her but fear is a powerful thing. Can she break down his walls, help him heal and prove to him that they are perfect for each other and destined to be together.
Never one to disappoint, Author Tess Thompson has written another addition to the Cliffside Bay Series, that will keep you wanting more! In the ninth book in this beautiful series, Sophie Woods fell in love with Nico Bentley the first time they met and will do whatever it takes to get him to love her back. Unbeknownst to Sophie, Nico is madly in love with her, as well. After being dumped by his fiancée, because she was in love with her best girlfriend, has Nico fearing to have his heart broken by Sophie so instead of being hurt, he is determined to push her away. Sophie cannot understand why Nico will not love her back. After a tragic accident at The Oar, Sophie and Nico are suddenly thrown together and with the help of Nico’s elderly landlady, Mrs. Coventry, she is versed in the art of seduction. Will Sophie succeed and get Nico to admit his feelings or will he watch her walk away? What will it take for Nico to accept his hearts desire and tell Sophie his true feelings? This is such an amazing series that will have you laughing one minute and crying the next. Author Tess Thompson seems to weave her magic into each one of her characters and have the reader feeling the emotional outbursts. In all honesty, I wish I could give this 5 plus stars! I am always anxiously awaiting the next book that this amazing author releases next! I would like to thank the author and publisher for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
Sophie grew up in a loving home with parents that cherished her. Nico just the opposite. When Sophie finds out she had siblings of course she had to go to meet them. She stays and helps her brother run the Oar the bar her Biological Dad built and ran. Sophie’s happy and falling in love with Nico but he’s pushing her away not only after a bad breakup but also because he feels there are too many years between them and Sophie is too young and naive to get involved with. But as much as he tries he knows he’s falling hopelessly in love with her. When a tragedy happens he realizes life is too short to let things pass by but Sophie’s big brother has other ideas and it’s to stop Nico from messing with his little sister! This was another great addition to the Cliffside bay series!
Jilted needs to be one clicked now. Nico and Sophie are wonderful. Sure Nico may just drive you a little crazy at times but hold on it is so worth it. Sophie is so sweet and wonderful. She is an old soul you will just love so much. I love how sure she is of everything. Sophie just has this way about her you can’t help but love. Nico is stubborn and once you find out why she is the way he is you understand him so much more. Nico and Sophie’s love story is one that you will need a box of tissues for. I love the Cliffside Bay series so much. Tess Thompson brings so much love and joy within this series and it keeps getting better and better. I can’t wait to see where we go from Nico and Sophie’s story.
I have loved every single one of the Cliffside Bay novels, and this one is included. We finally get Sophie and Nico’s story.
Where 75 to 100 years ago, an age difference of 15 to 20 years was not at all unusual, today it is. Thus we have Nico trying to stay away from Sophie because he thinks he’s too old(only 12 years and not too old at all) for her, and Sophie who is an old soul and couldn’t be more perfect for him. Enter Judy Coventry and things swiftly start changing.
This is another wonderful story from Tess Thompson, with real and engaging characters you’ll want to know and love.
The Cliffside Bay series keeps getting better with each book!
Jilted: Nico and Sophie was fantastic! Nico and Sophie are perfect for each other only Nico thinks he’s to old for Sophie. He thinks she needs to have more life experience. She doesn’t think so. Can she convince Nico or will they go their separate ways? I love the new character Judi! She was great!
I hope to see more of her in upcoming books.
Once again Tess has outdone herself with Jilted! It’s a great addition to the Cliffside Bay series! I can’t wait for the next book!
One of my favorite series is back again with a new installment. I love how Sophie knows exactly what she wants and who she is meant to be with and lets nothing stop her. Nico could be such a stubborn bonehead at times, but he’s a good guy and worth the trouble. Totally made me swoon at the end.
I received a review copy before release for an honest review.
Before I begin I want to share that this book was hijacked by a supporting character, Mrs. Judi Coventry. She is absolutely my favorite character in this story and I hope to see her again in another story, she was my absolute favorite character in this entire series and she made this book.
This is primarily Sophia’s story. Sophie is Maggie and Zane’s long lost sister. She was thought dead and then discovered as alive in Maggie’s book and she is very young, just 22 years old and she helped her brother Zane and his wife, Honor have a child in their story. Now we finally get her story.
A few books ago Nico Bentley came to town and he is best friends with Trey. He is 34 and a very broken man, he has never felt love by his parents and his fiancée left him for her best friend another woman. He is sad, unloved and depressed and while he is best friends with Sophie he feels she will leave him behind as well especially because she is so young.
In this story we get to hear from Hugh as Sophia reads his diary and we see who he was and how much he loved his kids. We also get to see Nico’s pain. Its a story about Instalove, friendship and the love of our parents. The author did a stunning job in showing how afraid of love Nico is.
To some degree Nico who I loved up to this book was a BIG coward. He had some awesome and brave moments so its hard to complain about that. But the biggest risk is love and at times he was very cowardly about it. Once he comes around, I wanted to see more of him and Sophia dating and their love story, and so I wish this book had been longer for that reason.
I also LOVED Jad. I loved how he helped Sophia make Nico jealous at times. He definitely deserves a story of his own.
An old soul, Sophie had a dream at just eight years old foretelling the man she is going to marry. While she may not have much experience, she knows Nico is her soul mate from the moment they meet.
When Nico moved to Cliffside Bay feeling broken and battered, cut off from both is family and left by his fiance for another woman, he was looking for anything more than the occasional one night stand. But, from the first time she smiled at him, Nico has wanted Sophie. Too bad he can’t have her, not only because of the difference in their ages but also because he feels he just isn’t good enough for her.
Able to offer friendship, Nico knows it can never be more no matter how hard Sophie pushes him. However, when tragedy strikes the vivacious woman, Nico’s left to help her pick up the pieces. But, can he do that without acknowledging his feelings and giving her his heart when she is offering all that she has and is?
Sophie may be one of the most vivacious characters I’ve ever read. She has such a zest for life and for making everyone around her feel loved and happy. She knows what she wants out of life, even if she is only in her early twenties, and loves hard and fierce. Seeing her knocked down in this book was a bit shocking, since she is always the one taking care of everyone else. But, it was the motivation needed to get Nico to finally act on the more than friendship feelings he has for her.
Nico has so much baggage. A childhood where he never felt loved or like he fit in and a fiance that left him for another woman has left him feeling unsure, shaken and questioning if he can ever love someone again. He feels completely unworthy of what Sophie is offering, and truly needs a pretty big boot in his behind to get him moving past his own doubts to see just how glorious they could be together. That boot being an almost tragedy and his landlady, Mrs. Coventry.
Tess Thompson has written some amazing characters in this series, but Judy Coventry is definitely one of my favorites! A lonely widower with more money than she needs, she’s up for a bit of meddling and matchmaking for Nico, who helped fill up her life in ways he didn’t even realize and for the sunny Sophie who needs a place to stay and a bit of advice from someone older and wiser in how to handle a man afraid to commit.
Jilted was a beautiful story about the power of unconditional love and finding ways to love yourself so you are worthy to not only love others but accept the love they have to offer in return. 5 stars!
This may be my favorite Cliffside bay book yet! I absolutely loved Nico and Sophie’s story! Nico has hidden himself from accepting any kind of love feeling he doesn’t deserve it and Sophie has opened her heart to loving him even if it hurts her. Will Nico open himself up to the possibility he can be loved and will Sophie not give up on him? This amazing love story will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat ! A perfect ending !! Loved this and never want to leave Cliffside Bay! Tess Thompson knows exactly how to engage readers with her books! I can’t wait to read the next one! I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review and all thoughts are my own.
