Discover the Power of the Ascension. Something happened.Jesus rose. But Christ didn’t just rise from the dead. He ascended to Heaven. We hear the stories about Peter and John and all the heroes of the New Testament, and they’re unstoppable Christians–fearless and bold. And sometimes we wrongly assume that they just got that way. That Christ died for their sins, and bam! They’re instantly changed! … sins, and bam! They’re instantly changed! On the contrary, the disciples were actually quite cowardly in their actions after the Resurrection.
It wasn’t until after the Ascension that they were on fire for Christ. So, what happened during the forty days? Something happened.
There’s more written about Christ’s ministry before his death than the events that happened after his Resurrection, but when we look at Ascension, we begin to see that there’s power in small details. We begin to see that something happened after the Resurrection–something happened to transform the lives of believers and make them more than followers.
Looking at what happened after the Resurrection, and further at the Ascension of Christ, we start to see what happened to transform the followers–and in seeing this we might just be transformed ourselves.
Something did indeed happen during the forty days. Jesus was not done teaching.

Great read for Lent
The author helps Christians focus on the Ascension of Christ. We all celebrate the Resurrection but if Jesus had not ascended to heaven we would have had a different outcome all together.
Information most Christians have missed or not paid attention to regarding the history of our Lord and Saviour.
This is an information book discussing the 40 days after Jesus Christ’s death and what the ascension really is about. It Is an interesting read as it discusses the events chronicled in the New Testament from the view point of someone living today. I liked the way this book was organized and found it easy to read. The points the author makes made me ponder and think more about the ministry of Christ and what it truly means. As a Christian, I perhaps found it more engaging than a non believer would but I think it has value to everyone who is interested in learning more about Christianity.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a wonderful book about the importance of the ascension of Jesus. It is written in an unpretentious manner, but full of truth as well as humor. The added chapter questions at the back of the book would make this a great companion for personal spiritual growth, Bible study, or even a book club. Highly recommend.
At first I thought this might be a sermon series as a book, but sermons typically have a more spiritually focused message than this book did. I’m more inclined to think it’s a series of informative blog posts that have been repackaged as a book. I listened to this book as preparation for Holy Week, but I don’t feel prepared to do much after finishing it but find a more inspiring book to read. This one just didn’t cut it for me. I’m no more informed about the significance of Jesus’ ascension than I was before. And really, I would hope the author’s intent was to do more than just give me facts and information. The book dwells more on Jesus’ appearances to his disciples post-resurrection than it does on the significance of the ascension. If I understand the author’s thesis correctly, Jesus’s appearances and ascension were meant to inspire his disciples to carry out the Great Commission. The chapter on Jesus’ post-resurrection appearances in the Apocryphal books wasn’t just unnecessary, in my opinion it was unnecessarily confusing to the average reader who has never read a Bible, or doesn’t diligently study the Bible. I appreciate the amount of higher learning the author has undertaken, but it might help if the focus of the subject matter had been a little more… focused. Instead, I feel like his intent was not to challenge my inner spirit to put my physical being into action for Christ’s kingdom, but rather to regurgitate the knowledge he has acquired on this subject. All of it. Even if it doesn’t apply. Oh wait, if he only wanted me to know how learned he is, then yeah, I guess he needed to info dump. This is the second book by this author that I’ve read (listened to), and it will be the last one, too.
