Leo Frost hates Jessica Beam on sight. But… she needs him to fall in love with her. Quickly. When down on her luck Jessica Beam is sold out by her best friend and thrown out of her home, the only person she can turn to is her long lost grandmother Matilda. But life isn’t so hot for Matilda either. The acclaimed etiquette books she wrote in her youth are no longer selling, her mortgage repayments … are no longer selling, her mortgage repayments are gigantic and now her disheveled granddaughter has turned up out of the blue, asking for help.
In an attempt to get a new book deal and make some much needed money, Jess and Matilda decide to band together and use Matilda’s old etiquette guides to teach messy, unpolished Jess how to become the ultimate demure lady. The true test of their plan will be this: Jess must successfully capture the cold, cold heart of the very sexy and notoriously grumpy playboy Leo Frost and prove that Matilda’s guides can still work in the modern day. Just one tiny problem – Jess and Leo hate one another on sight.
It’s going to be the ultimate makeover! Transforming Jess from trashy to tasteful will be no easy feat, and when surly Leo starts falling for Jess’s secret identity, she discovers that what started out as a way to make some quick cash suddenly becomes a whole lot more complicated …
♥ Author’s Note: Enemies to lovers. Secret Identity. Cinderella Story. So many laugh out loud, swoony moments. A refreshingly bold and hilarious heroine. A grumpy cad of red-headed hero. True friendships, true love and true joy. ♥

When you first start reading, you may not actually like Jessica. She really is a hot mess. But keep reading because her transformation is worth it. Loved the grandma! The love interest Leo also didn’t capture my heart immediately. But by the end of the novel I was pulling for Jess and Leo to get together. This book had several laugh-out-loud moments, too!
This was funny in a relatable everyone-has-that-one-friend sort of way. While at times predictable, there were a lot of cute moments that made me smile and laugh out loud. I read a lot of historical romance, so this was a nice fresh break that still has some great tie ins with Jessica’s grandmother. I look forward to reading more of Greenwood’s novels.
Not your typical romcom. Great characters and an interesting and unique story. The perfect escape.
I really like the premise of this book. Being a fan of historical romances, I appreciate the etiquette of past years and there are times when I wonder if there is any place in modern life for some of those formalities. Jessica Beam`s hilarious yet relevant misadventures show that it is less the retro attire, however attention-attracting, that might help a `young lady`to attract the attentions of a `good man` than the pointers emphasizing patience and consideration. This was a fun read – I hope my sister enjoys it as much as I did.
Just plain fun, loves every minute of this book and would read more.
I love this author’s conversational style of writing. I really laughed at this one.
This was a fun “coming of age” story. Funny in a different sort of way. It went from revenge to a really nice ending. Humans are messy, and this was a great reminder to forgive one another in order to be the best we can be.
This book is one that is probably well received by but I just didn’t like the characters. Probably because I’m too old to be patient with some behaviors, although those characters were well done.
kind of predictable, but fun. Thankfully, typos were pretty minimal.
I almost gave up on this book a dozen times. The protagonist was supremely unlikeable for nearly the first half of the story, or I would have given it a higher rating. The second half of the book was much better, but you need to draw in your readers very early, or risk losing them. I realize that the contrast of “bad” Jess vs. “good” Jess was necessary for the story, but did she have to be THAT awful?
Kirsty Greenwood is my latest “one click” author. This book was no exception! It was funny in the British comedy way that only people like Sophie Kinsella and Kirsty and company can do, not my American fingers 🙂 I loved how Jessica had her personal journey of figuring out what she wanted out of life.
Loosely based on Jane Austen’s pride and prejudice, its an entertaining chick lit book based in London. The heroine is perfectly imperfect. A great light beach read.
Did not like repeated foul language.
