The title Jersey Six says it all! This is the heroine Jersey’s story and there’s no holding back. Her story and journey captures every emotion known to man. Jersey’s story is dark. It’s sad and brutal. What she has experienced in her young lifetime made her to the person she is today. Thankfully there was two shining lights in all that darkness that ultimately saved her life.
I liked Jersey because the author shows the reader truly how flawed she is. It made me understand why Jersey reacted and behaved the way she did. It made her human. She’s a survivor first and never gave up despite how low she had to stoop to just get some food or basic necessities. It was hard and emotional to read at times because Jewel E. Ann captured Jersey’s ignorance with a brutal honesty. Jersey has missed out on so much yet despite lacking certain skills she was never a quitter. She was a fighter.
Jersey meets two men who both become important two her and will change her life irrevocably. That’s all I’m going to say! Just read and take it all in.
I never know what I’m going to get when I pick up a Jewel E. Ann book and that’s why I continue to read her books. Her storytelling is sublime and never safe. She challenges and makes me think every time and Jersey Six is no exception. Another must read from her. Another unique and memorable experience. There’s nothing left to say than read it and be amazed.
4.5 Unlovable Stars
Jewel E. Ann’s latest novel, Jersey Six, is not your standard rockstar romance! In fact, this book is more suspense than romance. What could a gorgeous, world-famous rockstar want with two gritty, homeless characters? The juxtaposition of these characters set the tone for this compelling suspense.
Jersey Six grew-up in the system after being abandoned at birth. She has known more than her share of abusive foster parents. If it weren’t for Dena and Charles Russell, she never would have learned about love
Chris has no memory of his life, so his accusations should be questionable even to an under-educated, homeless woman. However, driven by revenge, Jersey is undoubtedly susceptible to his assertive persuasion.
Ian Cooper is a rockstar who knows his success is due to luck and the grace of God. He takes nothing for granted, and he is thankful and grateful for each positive moment in his life. He is an elusive character who shares nothing of his past with his band mates, manager, or the reader for most of the book.
I enjoyed the third-person narrative in Jersey Six; it allowed for more suspense since the reader doesn’t have an inkling into the mind or motives of the major players. The only time it was frustrating was after the story’s zenith when I really needed to know the major player’s thoughts. When their complex relationship hits an emotion-blocking wall, I was left tense and on edge. Just like Jersey, I wondered what the future held for them. Would the continue to battle together and survive everything thrown their way, or had their relationship run its course and accomplished what they needed to move forward individually?
This twisted and sometimes dark story, crosses several genres: thriller, contemporary literature, and romance. There are a few plot points that required sufficient suspension of disbelief that they didn’t feel plausible in this otherwise realistic work of fiction. Appropriately, the romance is relatively chaste and not overly detailed in its description. The characters’ backstory is tragic and empathetic, and yet, I didn’t feel the usual level of emotional connection with them as I have with the author’s characters in prior books. I did feel the entire spectrum of emotions about the characters’ circumstances and challenges; you can’t help but be affected by the characters’ issues (e.g., abuse, neglect, mental illness, homelessness).
Author Jewel E. Ann has again shared her wickedly twisted mind and caring, soulful heart in her latest book, Jersey Six.

You Belong With Me
When the past collides with the present, everything changes. This was an incredible journey of vengeance, forgiveness and love.
He was a rockstar helping out a homeless girl and her friend. She was just a homeless girl in need of a job and life’s basic essentials. Then the tables were turned and and her mission became clear…until the girl who didn’t feel, started feeling for him.
I did not know what to expect. This story had so many layers. Jersey had a past and plans for the future. Ian had so many secrets that he buried long ago.
This was an emotional, romantic suspense. I felt their pain of the past. The oppression of the secets weighing them down. I felt the attraction that could not be contained or denied. I felt everything. The story kept me intrigued and there was a twist I never saw coming.
This story tells about the horrors that a little girl endured. About a survivor who fought to live each day. A girl who was forced to fight and be brave in order to protect herself from all the ugly. It was gut wrenching and brutal. It was dark and sad. In spite if all that, it was a love story. A story of ultimate sacrifices and unconditional love. This is a story I’ll be thinking about for a long time.
I wish I could give it more than five stars. I really hope no one puts any spoilers in their review, because, my goodness this book! I’m struggling to find words to do it justice without giving anything away – it was just that addicting. First of all, where the title comes from is just heartbreaking. There are parts where you struggle to know what’s up or down, parts where your heart just breaks, parts were you just gasp. At one point I was literally sitting on the edge of my seat reading. It’s a total emotional rollercoaster in the best way. I’m tempted to re-read it knowing what I know now, looking at it through different eyes. It’s just that good. If you’ve read Jewel E Ann before, you know there’s always something unexpected
Once again JEA has blown me away with her storytelling and unique characters. I was completely consumed with this book from the start, and am still nursing my book hangover.
Jersey Six is different from JEA’s usual novels, but at the same time – very similar. The depth of her characters, the addictive story-line, and the surprising twists are all there like in so many of her other novels. But this time around, it was just a bit edgier, grittier, and darker. But it was oh so real, which is what I love about JEA’s books.
Jersey is a completely different heroine than most. She is rough around the edges, she’s broken beyond belief, and she’s a fighter – literally. Although she is small, she is mighty! No words rang more true. This girl messed up some guys in this book, and I was HERE for it! Jersey’s transformation in this book was to the extreme….from a girl who basically lived on the streets for several years, to one who was suddenly jet-setting with a rockstar. But JEA kept it authentic. She allowed Jersey to have her moments like eating with her hands, and physically lashing out at anyone when she became defensive, and carrying her old and tattered bag everywhere. She was not afraid to show her true roots, and bare her most private and intimate parts of herself and her life. It was in these moments that Jersey became real to me – I cried for her, and I wanted to shelter her. But she fought me every step of the way showing how resilient and strong she truly was, and I could only cheer her on towards the end.
Ian…oh Ian. I don’t even know where to begin with this man. From his first scene he had me hooked, line and sinker. He is truly a care-taker, a giver, so compassionate and loving, yet at the same time he carries his past and demons close to his heart. He shows the world nothing until Jersey comes along. The impact that she had on his life was mesmerizing…it kept me glued to the pages, not only because of their chemistry and relationship, but because of the mystery and connection that tied them together. I was addicted to their relationship, as intense as it was, either in the throes of passion or angst. I just wanted more of them. Sigh….
I loved every page of this book. It pulls you out of the normal JEA box and exposes you to that unexplainable love. It is all-consuming and you will fall for these characters and their story! Well done once again J.E. Ann!!!
Jersey Six WAS AWESOME!! The suspense throughout this story kept me guessing right until the end. I knew going into this that, with this author, there would be some plot twist somewhere in the story that would just blow my mind. Jewel E Ann definitely delivered with the plot twist and the unexpected in Jersey Six.
Jersey was such a fascinating character. Now in her early 20’s, she is pretty hardened by the life she has lived. She is an absolute force to be reckoned with, and mete’s out violence to those she feels deserve it. She is obsessed with getting revenge on the person she believes responsible for the death of her foster parents.
Then there is Ian. A famous rockstar touring the world with legions of adoring fans. I started to wonder immediately what his back story was, why the interest in Jersey? And let’s not forget the mystery of the character with amnesia! Another character that had me wondering what exactly was going on – how did he get covered in burns and lose his memory?
OMG That ending! I developed suspicions of certain characters the further I got into the story, but a couple of the twists were NOTHING like I thought they would be *mind blown*.
Jewel E. Ann managed to completely blow me away with the twists and turns in her newest release, Jersey Six! This author’s unique storytelling ability never seizes to amaze me and now I have no clue how to come up with the right words to describe the emotions that she managed to bring out of me as I inhaled this one of a kind tale.
Jersey, Chris and Ian’s story is not what you think and trust me when I tell you all to hang on tight as you buckle up for one of the craziest rollercoaster rides you will every experience. Their journey is unlike anything I could have ever imagined when I first sat down to read this story. The unexpected moments had my jaw hitting the floor and just when I thought I had it all figured out, Jewel E. Ann, throws something into the mix that had me rethinking everything. She is without a doubt one of those author’s that knows how to surprise her readers and oh my goodness did she surprise me more times than I can count with her newest release!
This is not your traditional rockstar romance that you see on the market today, it’s much more deeper than that and trust me when I say that the emotions you experience throughout will leave you completely breathless. Three lost souls are forever connected, but only two will survive the twisted journey. Make sure to RUN (not walk…I repeat DO NOT WALK) and get your copy of Jersey Six RIGHT FREAKING NOW to find out what this captivating story has to offer!
Jersey Six’s whole life is ripped apart when her foster parents are killed. When someone unexpected comes in her life and seems to have answers about who is responsible for their deaths, what will she do? This is a haunting story but so glad I read it!
4.5 stars!
Gritty.
That is the word that comes to mind when I think of this story. The definition of gritty is showing courage or resolve…and with those words I instantly picture Jersey Six. A girl abandoned, unwanted, and unloved from the start, bounced from foster home to foster home with an unlucky proneness for finding unwanted attention in those homes, surviving on some of the last advice given to her, “be brave and run fast.” Jersey feels robbed of her perceived one chance to have a happy ending and is focused on revenge. When a homeless burn victim walks into the gym where she trains and lives the trajectory of her life is altered, thrown off course, right into the path of Ian Cooper, rockstar. Ian slowly worms his way into Jersey’s heart, mind, body and vice versa but Jersey is singular in her focus, driven to see the plan through, even if it costs her everything in the end.
While all of the stories this author writes bring me immense joy, this return to the darker side of story telling really captivated me and drew me in. These characters are flawed and emotionally scarred and quite frankly pretty miserable due to the circumstances life has given them. A great story teller can make you feel one way about a character and then by the end of the story you realize you’ve done a complete 180…that’s brilliant character evolution in my opinion. True to Jewel’s writing there are layers and twists along the way and I’ve sat on my review for a week now, still trying to wrap my mind around the final reveal to the point where I may have to reread parts of the books just to convince myself, lol. That’s great storytelling, the ability to consume your reader’s thoughts weeks later by the complexity of your story. In true Jewel fashion, this story is not black and white but sits squarely in the gray zone of morality and life which makes you think, really think about the circumstances surrounding the characters and the choices they’ve made. I enjoyed it, a lot!
5 Stars!
Jersey Six grew up on the streets of Newark, orphaned and homeless. When her life finally looks like it’s going in the right direction, it’s derailed again. Her dreams are shattered, and she’s left angry and desperate. She’s had to fight for everything and has survived on her own for the last eight years barely existing. Then she crosses paths with a burn victim who wants to be her new friend. Through their friendship she discovers he has answers about her past, and the person responsible for altering her future. She’s tired of running, and feeling lost and lonely. She wants revenge for the huge void that has taken up all the space in her heart. She makes it her mission to get close to a famous singer and take him down. She believes he took something priceless from her, and she plans to destroy him. While he’s performing unforgettable concerts, she is playing a game of manipulation to ruin a rock star.
When Ian was with Jersey he felt drawn to her in a way he couldn’t explain. She was feisty, strong, uncensored, impulsive, and unpredictable, but he wanted to spend time with her. The connection he felt couldn’t be denied.
Jersey had to remember what was important, and try to ignore her attraction to Ian. It had no place in her plans, but she couldn’t change how he threw her off balance with one look, and jumbled all her thoughts. He made her feel completely out of control, and she hated the effect he had on her. He made her vulnerable, and had her doubting what was real. She just had to dig deeper, and find the truth. As she begins to question everything, she’s conflicted, and doesn’t know anymore if he’s the bad guy or her savior?
Jersey Six by Jewel E. Ann was absolutely fabulous!!! I loved this book so much, and couldn’t put it down. It’s a touching, emotional story about survival and love. It has so many twists, turns, and shockers, and is packed with secrets, lies, and humor. It was a wild ride and brilliantly written. Jewel E. Ann continues to blow my mind with her amazing books, always writing the most unique stories, and creating the most beautiful, swoony men I can’t get enough of. She has quickly become one of my favorite authors. This book will definately be in my top reads for 2019.
Jersey Six is not your typical Jewel E. Ann book.
I would just not reading reviews and go in blind.

Overall Rating: More than
In her book fan group, the Jonesies, we talk about the JEA moment, the JEA Effect. It’s that moment in a Jewel E. Ann book, when something so egregious occurs that it changes the complete nature of the story. It’s generally gut-wrenching, heart-stopping, and sometimes, causes the reader to stop reading, needing a break from the soul-changing moment. This moment transpires in. EVERY. ONE. OF. HER. BOOKS. There is no break from this. It’s as natural to Jewel as her writing style. And it’s the reason that she is my top author. She has an imagination that continues to baffle me. If I have ever thought of writing my own books (and I have), she casts a shadow over my interest in writing that (and it isn’t her fault that she’s such a d@mn genius) keeps me from actually doing it because she is my measure.
And her latest offering, Jersey Six, illustrates her genius clearly.
I had the pleasure of proofreading this book. It’s a privilege to sit with her words and story that, when offered, I seize wholeheartedly. Like her other books, Jewel has a pacing to her words that drives the reader forward in the story. The words are melodious with a cadence that keeps you engaged. My head and heart seek out her measured words, I think. It’s why I have trouble with putting her books down, especially this one.
In other reviews, I offer a general synopsis of the main parts of the story. For this review, I am not going to provide any summary. This book is a romantic suspense with several twists that I don’t want to go anywhere near them. It’s part of her imaginative genius because she can see and create these moments in the story that cause her readers to gasp and pause at the unexpected turn of events. Jersey Six is evidence of this.
This book is an emotional roller coaster ride with some very broken riders. While Jewel has forgone a trigger warning for this book, one should be warned that Jersey, the main heroine of this book, has a past that is quite horrific. In the space of the book, we learn her story, and it will make you cry, or at least, humble your heart. She is my most favorite part of this book because she embodies this story’s truth.
The tagline, found on the cover of the book, is “[t]here’s nothing more intimate than revenge.” And many would think that this book is about avenging a past wrong. To a certain extent, it is. Jersey is emblematic of revenge. She has grown up in a system that hasn’t protected her heart and soul. Instead, she’s borne so much abuse onto herself that her heart has become steel, a necessary protection from seeming “unloveable.” For anyone in Jersey’s situation, revenge would be an appropriate response. And Jersey is out to prove this. But this book is about love. It is about the way in which true love re-trains our heart to be more than broken shards.
I looked up the antonyms to the word, revenge. They are compassion, forgiveness, grace, mercy, pardon, and reconciliation. These are the opposite of Jersey because very few people have shown her how to live these words. Jewel’s romance, Jersey Six’s, genius and JEA Effect lies in Jersey learning these words by finally being loved simply for herself. It is so hard to put words to this understanding. This book overwhelms you with this truth. If we really want to help people change and evolve, we have to love them in good moments and bad ones. We have to love them simply for who they are. And when we do, we speak love into their souls. This is the profound essence of Jersey Six: to pour love on the unloveable to see them bloom into the very best versions of themselves.
I left Jewel a comment as I finished her manuscript that I believe Ian, the hero of this story, and Jersey are her most f’ed up couple. They are broken people, raised in a broken world. Jersey and Ian warn Jewel’s readers that “we are terrible people.” And in the traditional rules of a perfect society, that might be the case. However, in the world of Jersey Six, they are the most loveable and my most favorite couple to date in the Jewel E. Ann world of books.
Read this book. It’s important.
Once again, my heart had beaten with the loudest drum. JERSEY SIX had been a subject that interest me for awhile. Between Nick the stranger…Jersey, a homeless young woman who lived at stinkyhole Marleys.. Meeting Ian Cooper, the mysterious singer.. ahhh I loveeeeeeeeee it!
I loved how the story flow.. I love Jersey Six spirit in a way she was a lonely young woman…Alone.. beatendown life.. No.. this book had kept me awake for awhile.. I cant put it down.. the chapters had spoken with so many puzzle and another door to push.. How much more I can take? It was fresh and vibrate. The love was not a sweet one. The bonds were lies between the past..the sweet revenge was so hurtful .. I cant begin a word. Jersey Six was unpredictable just the way it was. Rugged, painful and Loved A Must Read!
The fire stole burnt his skin and everything from him. His memory of life before the catastrophic event, his identity and his memory.
Two doors leading down two very different paths. One back into the foster system, the other to freedom of the streets.
It was never a choice, her heart knew where she needed to go, and her legs took her without a backward glance.
Music is everything to him, he has no backup plan, he is the ultimate mystery man his life so unknown before he became who he is now.
Three separate yet interconnected lives full of pain and anguish, screams in the night and dreams of more.
What an amazing build up to a perfect conclusion.
I must admit in places I didnt feel all that connected to the characters and couldnt see their true relationships and feelings, but then like a light switched on it all made sence and from there onwards I was on tender hooks, awaiting their future hoping and cringing at the same time.
This book is dark and gritty, plentiful on details that arent full of sunshine, but it needs to be this way and it gives the characters a depth they need to understand their motivations and actions.
Each character is suffering, and damaged to a point. Violence and loss in their history.
Jersey the unwanted her life was never a bed of roses. Used and abused until the stranger with lunch money changes things.
Chris has amnesia and neither knows who he was before or who he truly is now. Frustrated yet certain on a particular event.
Cooper of two lives. One infront of the masses, the other hidden and hopefully forgotten. Hes a hero to them but for how long?
This was my first read of Jewels and so I didnt fully know what to expect other than she had been recommended to me by lots of fellow readers, and you know what, I’m glad I listened as I thoroughly lost myself in her world of darkness.
I very much look forward to reading more from her.
What do you say about a book that sucks you in from the beginning and you can’t put it down until you have finished? Well this is that book. This story is so heartbreakingly beautiful, the words and the characters are ones that will touch you so deep in your soul that you will definitely need some down time after reading. They are strong, hurt, wanting of love, and wanting of revenge. The author does a wonderful job of weaving their stories into a tale that will consume you and leave your jaw dropping, eyes tearing, and soul breaking page after page. Jersey, Ian, and Chris are ones that will be around for awhile. Well done Jewel E. Ann!
I have no words. What an amazing story! I am keeping this short and sweet as to not give anything away. Jersey is a survivor and that is her truth. While I did not agree with a decision she made late in the book, it was completely in character for her. Shocker after shocker had me sucked into this book and I did not want it to end.
A full proof, hundred percent genius and brilliant way of breaking my heart into million pieces. Yes that is what should be the title of the new contemporary romance by Jewel Ann. Not Jersey Six. I am not sure how to recover from this angst filled, tear jerker and heart rending experience. This was one of those life changing stories I will never ever forget.
The story line. Right. Where should I start? A rock star who has a secret past and who employs homeless people out of impulse. A kick ass woman with some bad ass attitude and strength that you can’t even begin to imagine and the ugliest, saddest and cruelest past. A guy with burn scars and amnesia. It makes no sense. Well that is what I intended to do. I want you to go blindly into this beautiful, satisfying, painful and torturing mindfuck. And thank me later.
I have never been in such a dilemma to write a review. Everything and anything is a spoiler. Even if I try to describe the broken, tragedy filled, inspiring and amazing characters. I am just overwhelmed by the flood of intense and intoxicating emotions. The writing is mindblowing. This screams GREATNESS silently. The raw pain, the blinding love, the unadulterated passion, the real struggles- everything came alive in high definition glory. I am drowning and I don’t even want to resurface. This is a powerful story about abuse, survival and revival. A happily ever after will come after the author dragging you through hell.
Forget this review. Forget my blabbering about how profoundly this book affected me. Just know you must read this book. One of the best books I have ever read in my life!
Received ARC for Honest Review
Such a great read! Jersey Six is a homeless woman who lives in Marley’s, a rundown gym in Newark. She takes in Chris, who is a scarred burn victim when he tells her he knows who killed her foster parents eight years ago. She has a chance meeting with Ian Cooper at a hotdog stand near Marley’s. This is a gripping story. It will keep you turning page after page with nail-biting suspense. Sometimes this story will break your heart, but by the end it will restore you as Jersey learns what true love means. Trust me when I say you will not see the plot twists coming. Jewel has written the rockstar of all reads! Get ready to be amazed! 5 stars
I am truly in awe of what I just read. There were times when I thought I had the whole thing figured out and I wasn’t far off, but I never hit the mark because Jewel is just that good. This story is dark and twisty and nothing short of extraordinary. These characters are complex in a way I’ve never read before. Jersey Six is a raw and eye opening book that has left me speechless. I don’t want to spoil a thing. This story unfolds like a well choreographed fight. It’s gritty and packs so many punches, I feel like I’ve gone ten rounds in the ring and am barely able to stand. This book is remarkable, Jewel. Really and truly. Everyone needs to read it. One click right away. Don’t think. Just do it. And be warned, you’re in for one hell of a ride. Buckle up!
Mind blown like puff gone! Bravo!!! The twists and schemes were so unique. Not to mention the characters. Ian is everything, the complete package. You don’t have any other choice but to admire him, love him, be proud of him. And Jersey is such a complex character. Vulnerable in every way but with a backbone made of steel. She is a bad*ss. And even when she doesn’t want to accept it, she has a good heart.
She is defensive because she is in survival mode. And it’s good that when the world keeps kicking Jersey down Ian offers a way out. He is so patient and swoon worthy. He proceeds with caution but also pushes a bit when it comes to her. The best part is that he treats her with respect and like a normal human being. She is different to him because she is special and unique, not because she is less.
For this characters it’s hard to recognize themselves as good people when their circumstances have caused them to be hard and ruthless. But they have so much determination, so much to offer. And Ian opens the door to that growth with an opportunity and a lot of patience.
You feel for them. They have a lot of scars. I love that their lives are full of mistakes with little to non regrets. This story touches some disturbing subjects in the most direct way because Jersey has no filter. And you will love that about her. It keeps the story fresh. And I love that the story has darkness to it and has a bit of mystery in it too.
