Jersey Six is such an Intriguing, emotional story. I love the way this author draws you in and keeps you completely engrossed till the end. I had so many “oh my gosh” moments with all the twists and turns. The characters were genuine, and way stronger than I would ever be. They were straight to the fact with what they both endured and thought, well Jersey Six was at least. Another well written story from Jewel E. Ann and you all need to read it, you won’t be disappointed.
5+ Stars
This is is another fabulous, emotional story from this author who does romance and angst so well. Jewel E Ann is an all time favourite of mine and I am reminded why when she writes a book like this one.
Emotion radiates from every page and I knew after the first couple of chapters that I was completely hooked. The story is so interwoven and complex it caught me off guard at times. So expect the unexpected because some of the twists and turns I never saw coming and I was left shocked at some of the revelations in this powerful story.
There are three main characters in this story and all three have had major trauma and terrible experiences happen to them in the past. All this is still affecting their lives one way or another in the present day. It is obvious these people are not all they seem to be, I loved all the characters but I didn’t know who to trust and who not to. With every turn of the page, it made my mind question what I was reading and who to believe. The way Jewel E Ann has written these complex, addictive characters left me hanging on their every word, with their every move I was left not knowing what to expect next.
This is a story of revenge, pain, tragedy, hope and of course love; all perfectly captured by this wonderful author whose words, at times, took my breath away. This story made me cry, made me feel sad, the emotions were real and powerful. The whole book is just perfection and for me is one of my top reads for 2019, it is absolutely wonderful!!
This book consumed me totally, when I finished I wanted to go back and start it all over again. From the moment I started I knew this was not going to be the typical revenge book. The story is complex thought provoking and so addictive.
Who is Jersey Six ? She is one of the most interesting female characters I’ve read in a long time. She will infuriate you, elicite sympathy but trust me by the end you will love her with every fibre of your being. The story is so well thought out little clues are dropped in, the twists are breathtaking. Revenge manipulation sexual tension and love are all wrapped up in one of the best books I’ve read this year.
3 stars. This was kind of an odd book to me and was not my favorite by JEA. Jersey Six is a twisty, turny book with some darkness and grit to it. I can’t even go into the plot without spoiling the story, as this book has some big twists and secrets. I will say this- Jersey Six is homeless. She has led a hard life- being abandoned at birth, going from foster home to foster home, being abused and then running from the only home she ever felt safe in, when her foster parents are killed. She is living and working in a boxing gym when the chance to get revenge for those deaths presents itself and she takes it. But she has to become close to a famous, mysterious rock star to do it.
This is a tough book to review. I can’t even really put my finger on why I did not love it, except that some parts of the plot were too vague or not believable. The relationships between some of the characters did not make sense to me. I was intrigued by this story and could not put it down. But I didn’t particularly like any of the characters, or their behavior, nor understand them. Many situations are confusing, nothing is clear, and you don’t know who is telling the truth. The characters all run hot and cold in their behavior.
Jersey was a tough girl and I didn’t really “get” her. She was pretty emotionally stunted from her past, often immature and violent, and her idea of love and relationships are messed up. The other two main characters in the book, Chris and Ian, were no better to me. It was very hard to identify with them. I really was not a fan of the angst. I had no idea who to pull for or trust as a reader. One of the surprise twists was not my favorite element to read about and felt a little gimmicky.
There is a romance between Jersey and one of the men, but we don’t know what is real and what is an act. But I didn’t really buy into this book as a romance, more as a mystery or suspense. I had a hard time believing in an HEA for any of the characters after the events in this book. There was no trust or real happy times to build on. I did end up feeling the love between the couple, but there is a months long separation. It all just felt like too much to get over. There is an epilogue that shows that they made it work somehow, in which they are happy and together. I was happy they got to that point, but I would have liked to see more of how that came to be.
Overall, I was fascinated by this book, even if I did not feel a big connection to the characters. It was a fast paced, interesting read that kept me sucked in throughout the book. While it was not my favorite JEA book, I still think it is worth reading. It was definitely unique, as are all of this author’s books. I don’t know how she comes up with her stories, but I look forward to whatever she comes up with next.
