This is one of those books that I really enjoyed. City attorney comes to the outback of Australia to be in her girlfriends wedding but she didn’t realize she would be going into the Outback when she said yes. Once there life changes for her because of the situation she grew up in and life in the present. Jenna became an attorney to help people but she did not realize she would indeed be called on using her talents back where it all started out back in the day. Sam Twist himself is indeed just that another twist in the story that kept me glued to the pages. One of the reasons i really loved this book…all the Outback books is it is like visiting this beautiful country without leaving my home. This book showcases the hardships of life in the Outback but it also shows us what one can do if you stay strong to what you believe in.
The story starts out in a bridal boutique, Cate is getting married. Jenna Mathews is Cates best friend, they have known each other for a decade and work for the same lawyers office, infact, Jenna is a corporate lawyer. Jenna is quite city orientated, so when Cate mentioned that the wedding was going to be in Wirralong, she pretended she knew, but was figuring out in her head, how did she miss that? “Jenna didn’t do the country. Not ever. Not anymore”.
.
We then meet up with Sam Twist. Cate’s and Craig’s two oldest friends who is Craig’s best man. Sam, according to Cate has a somewhat dangerous vibe, a bit of a player of which Jenna found interesting.

With the wedding ceremony taking place in a paddock of Longholme, beside the river, Jenna not actually meeting Sam until the actual … day … she is left being curious who this Sam is. With Sam thinking the same of Jenna. The situation is taken to another level when their eyes meet over the wedding ceremony…. and it’s there I ask myself can Jenna hack the country life yet again? How does she commute to and fro, to city and town and is the love of lambs with their fluffy tails with their helpless bleating enough to open Jenna’s heart? Or is the fence, going to be her defence? … and are all the other farmers with their fences, break there fences too? Can Jenna with her stealthy attitude, stand the grit, and Number 8 wire that twists into a rusty twang of barbed wire? (oooooo thats nasty, that stuff!!!)

This isnt the first time I have read one of Barbara Hannays books, so I knew I was in for a treat when I found this newly realised book on NetGalley … It did not disappoint!! The author takes you through a tantalising trail, feeding you bit by bit, morsel by morsel of intrigue, romance and mystery. A phenomenal read, a phenomenal author and I would put Barbara Hannay in my top five authors of romance. The authors style of writing leaves the romantic side to your imagination and what is more sexy than that? The pace of the book was just right for me and kept me interested all the way through. Although sad at times, and some will break out in tears, there is a “happy ever after” end, which brings the book to a satisfying close.
.
This book comes highly recommended by me and will suit anyone who is interested in romantic books (this book isnt too soppy) who is interested in a good plot to their story (as this isn’t just about romance alone) and anyone who is interested in what country life must be like.

Jenna is a hard working lawyer who attends the wedding of her best friend in Wirralong, a town known for being a wedding destination in Australia, where she hooks up with Sam, the groom’s brother, after the wedding. She thought it would be just one night and then she would be on her way back to the city, but it turns out Jenna’s advice was needed to help the ranchers fight a mining company who has cut off access to their livestock. No one knows about Jenna’s time spent in the outback, but when Sam figures she is hiding something and she finally tells him, it only brings them closer.
Sam is a committed bachelor. He has no plans of ever settling down and getting married. He is happy spending time with women. Once he is through with them, he moves on. But, there is something about Jenna that has piqued his interest. There is more to her story than she lets people know. She plays tough and loves her city life, but deep inside there is a country girl waiting to come back out.
I enjoyed this book. Jenna and Sam seemed to fight their true feelings for a while, but when they finally gave in, it was worth the wait. I enjoyed the author’s descriptive writing. I felt like I had been right there with the characters in Australia. This book is part of a series, but all of the books can be read on their own.
I love this series. I don’t know this author, but well done on packing so much into a quick read. I was hooked from the beginning. Former country girl is a big city lawyer, can you really take the country lifestyle out of the girl. This bridesmaid due to circumstances is spending more time in the country side than she expected. Not only did she become involved with someone but a legal issue had her attention too.
A wonderful outback romance, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
In town for a friends wedding hot shot workaholic lawyer Jenna meets farmer/sheep rancher Sam. Can two such opposite personalities and lifestyle work? Jenna by Barbara Hannay is a light enjoyable clean read for romance fans. I like a bit more steam in my books but that’s just me.
