predictable and too much “romance” without good mystery
Repetitive. Didn’t finish.
The stories were pretty interesting which is the only thing that kept me reading. Janessa Jones, the main character is endlessly annoying, whether it involves her job or her love life. Her interactions with the people most closely surrounding her made me dislike her more and more as I got further into the series. After completing the three book ‘collection’ I finally quit because Janessas selfishness and inconsideration cancelled out any enjoyment I got from the actual stories. Maybe others feel different, but I personally have to like SOMETHING about the main character.
The main character is self-centered and has only only a fraction of the brains she thinks she has. The level in which she inserted herself into police investigations was completely unrealistic. The author repeats cutesy little affectations and/or scenes in a way that overwhelms the plot and causes undue annoyance to the reader. This author’s name will stick with me for the wrong reasons.
Some relationship tension with family history and choices with old/new boyfriend which complicates the mystery but it doesn’t step deep into chick lit. The sharing of info between the cops and reporter frustrated me. It soooo wouldn’t happen that a reporter would be invited onto a new crime scene, etc. but it does make the story progress well.
