A Book in Ciana Stone’s Cotton Creek SagaJasper figured that being captured and tortured for weeks before managing to escape was going to be what ended him. He was trying to deal with it but it the damn panic attacks were crippling him. When he was ordered into rehab, he had no choice but to obey. Being a SEAL was his life. He had to get whole again and get back to his unit. As luck would have … luck would have it, one of the Commanders of a SEAL Team, Grady Judd, who was now off the active duty roster, had partnered up with an ex-CIA spy and opened a rehab center in Texas. When Grady called and asked Jasper to do his rehab there, Jasper said yes. With Grady as the boss, maybe the place, Sanctuary, wouldn’t be like the VA hospital, all talk and no action.
What he finds when he gets there is a therapist who is anything but conventional. That might have been okay except for one small glitch. Dr. Whitestone’s a woman. And she’s hot.
Now JJ has more than PTSD to worry about. He also has to keep his desires in check and his hands off the doctor.

I LOVE this third installment of the Heartbreakers and Heroes series. Etta is an extremely inter-esting character with so much backstory! And Jasper Jacks comes into her life at just the right time. Every book I read from Ciana makes me want to go back and read every previous book she has written! Her writing is interesting, her characters complex, and plots are page turners! Rhett Samuel Price does a wonderful job narrating this tale of loss and rebirth. It was pure joy to listen to! WOW!
I love SEAL romantic suspense novels, and as such have quite high expectations for the books I read in that sub-genre. What I really love about this book (and the series) is how clever the author Ciana Stone was in her creation of multi-faceted characters. The demons the characters deal with feel so real that the characters’ emotions pour out of the pages. I was truly moved by this excellent book and highly recommend it!
PTSD is serious stuff to have to deal with and both of these characters do in their own way. I really love this group of people and how they all become so close as a family. This book had two extremely strong people who fight their way back to live peaceful lives. I love this series so far and can’t wait for more.
I am continually amazed by Ciana Stone. She has the talent to take words and make you part of a story, make you really feel what is happening with the characters.
I liked Etta and JJ. Despite how broken they were, you could still feel their strong connection. It wasn’t instalove or that intense sexual connection you often read about in some books. Their connection seemed to have a depth that convinced you they were in it for the long haul.
You were also able to sense their pain, and imagine how truly broken they felt. It felt good to follow along as they started to heal. There was something about this book that was soothing, also a bit spiritual with Etta having a strong empathetic nature and JJ being able to do easily tap into it. The action scenes were quick and precise. To top it off, there was an overwhelming sense of family amongst all of the characters.
Different from Grady and Jason’s books, but just as good. I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy.

Jasper Jacks is the 3rd book in the Heartbreakers and Heroes series by Ciana Stone and again she has taken us on a roller coaster ride to some dark and painful places only to show us that with compassion and love we can come out on the other side and know we will be alright! !
Jasper, a Seal who was captured, tortured and escaped now has to heal and find a way past his PTSD and do rehab before he can come back to his team. He comes to Sanctuary for his rehab and his doctor is woman who he is not sure can help him but he also feels a connection for Dr. Etta Whitestone.
Dr. Etta Whitestone has some dark corners in her life from being in the military but keeps them close to her chest. When she meets Jasper she know distinctly that she can help him and so works her magic but what she doesn’t count on is her attraction to him.
Will these two be able to come to grips with what has happened to them in the past and be able to move forward and begin a new life separately and together or will the past continue to make it impossible for them??
I received a complimentary copy of this book and loved it so much, I purchased a copy to help support this amazing author.
I really don’t know how Ms. Stone does it. I fall in love with the characters and their stories and think nothing can top it. But she does each and every time. This story was such an amazing one. The plot and characters are easy to relate to. The story just flows so well that I couldn’t stop reading. I definitely will re-read this one. Well I hope to re-read all of them (one right after the other!!!) I highly recommend this story to anyone! You will not regret spending time in the Heartbreakers and Heroes world. I look forward to the next one as I can re-join my friends again as I hate to say good-bye to them when the story end.
Read this book for an honest review. This was a really heart felt book about what military personnel can suffer internally from war. My heart went out to Jasper and all he’s going thru. Etta is the Doctor who is at the sanctuary to help the soldiers find their way back. She’s had problems of her own. This is a really great read.
