Meet the Blackthorne men, each one as hot, fast, and smooth as the whisky that built the family fortune, and the yachts and race cars that bear their name. From proud Scottish stock, Blackthornes never lose. But, one by one, the seven sexy men in this family are about to risk everything when they fall for strong and beautiful women who test their mettle in life…and love.JASON – Book TwoJason … Two
Jason Blackthorne wants to make films. As head of Blackthorne Entertainment, he’s finally getting his break – a gritty cop drama filmed near the family compound. He has a lot riding on the success of the series, both with family and the industry. He doesn’t have time to notice how pretty or talented his assistant is. He just needs her to jump when he says jump.
Mallory Price has tried acting, but what she really wants is to be behind the camera. She is a storyteller at heart and she knows she could direct a killer show. She has great ideas, and though Jason seems to hear her, he never sees her as anything but a Girl Friday.
But when an accident on set puts him flat on his back, and a mercurial director goes missing, Mallory steps in. Long nights at work and equal footing create sparks between Jason and Mallory. But when Jason is on his feet once again, and the director returns, has anything really changed between them? Or was it all just a dream?

The Blackthornes are famous for their whiskey and for their business acumen. Jason is head of Blackthorne Entertainment. He wants to make movies but he’s overwhelmed by the details. He can’t keep an assistant because he’s too disorganized. When he hires Mallory Price, he finds that she’s perfect for the job and for him. Do the have a future? Mallory is a jewel. She’s on top of everything. I just wish that Jason didn’t take advantage of her. I had to laugh at her snarky retorts when he oversteps. I felt the chemistry between them. It’s both romantic and sweet. When Jason and Mallory shared their past, it made it easier to understand their motivation. Also, I enjoyed when the story focused on the movie making. The drama and the egos Jason and Mallory had to deal with pulled me in. I could understand their frustration. I wanted a HEA but I wasn’t sure it would happen. Circumstances were stacked against them. Julia London kept me on the edge of my seat.
I’m enjoying the series. Who knows who will find love next.
I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. My comments are my honest opinion.
Jason and Mallory have an interesting adventure on their way to finding love in Jason, the second book, in the 7 Brides for 7 Blackthornes series, this one written by Julia London. Jason is the middle child of both the brothers and cousins, allowing him to feel overlooked especially since he was quieter and kept to himself. Escaping to watch movies and television was his coping mechanism to deal with the loss of his parents and feeling as if he didn’t belong. It is easy to see why he wanted to be a successful film/tv producer, instead of joining the family whisky business. Jason is overly disorganized and goes through assistants like some people drink coffee. Mallory is the exact opposite of Jason, a neat freak, possibly OCD, with the need to organize the people she cares for. After being hired Mallory becomes an invaluable asset for Jason and the production of his new tv show, being developed for Netflix. The production has a few problems, causing the filming of Season Two to be in an uproar. First there’s the “ripped from the ‘me too’ headlines” crisis causing Jason to find a new leading man, while he’s in Maine at his family’s summer home. Then there are all the minefields being established by a prima-donna director who wants out of his contract. He needs help and finds a way to get Mallory out to Maine from LA to help him. Jason and Mallory might pretend their attraction doesn’t exist but their chemistry and magnetism is off the charts. With all that’s going on he’s still her boss which makes it a no-no. Mallory’s life goal is to become a director of film and television. When Jason is injured and the director is MIA, Mallory has a chance to prove her worth. Yet, when the director crisis explodes Jason chooses what’s right for the show over Mallory’s career goals, placing their future in doubt.
Jason and Mallory are strong, driven characters, sharing a love for anything on film in addition to each other. Ms. London wrote a tale rich with sexual chemistry, humor, tearful moments, and endearing characters giving Jason and Mallory a chance for happiness, love and a future together. I definitely recommend Jason to other readers and look forward to checking out the other books in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
I thought that this was a good read and a welcome addition to this series. This book focuses on Jason and Mallory’s story. The storyline was fun and interesting and I loved the chemistry between these two. This book has a lot of sweetness to it and I loved the banter that flew when these two opposites got going. Drama and plenty of turmoil add flavor and will keep you wondering if things will ever work out.
4.5 Stars for book 2 in the 7 Brides for 7 Blackthorns
Julia London is a new author to me and after reading Jason I’m left wondering why she hasn’t crossed my radar before now. Jason is book 2 in the exciting concept of 7 books by 7 different authors featuring 7 brothers and their brides and I’m loving every minute of this series. Welcome to Jason and Mallory’s story….. it’s a story you will want to read.
Jason heads up the Blackthorn Entertainment side of the Blackthorns business empire and he is the boss no one wants to work for so far every assistant has left because of his disorganisation. Mallory is the latest PA and when Jason gets injured she finds herself taking on more than the normal PA duties and as this couple get to know each other he realises she is not just the perfect assistant maybe she could be perfect for him as well……
As this couple get to know each other they find that sparks fly and not just in the work place, they are a couple that don’t trust or commit to anyone easily because they have both been burned in the past but as they open up to each other romance blossoms. This is a well written romance with just the perfect amount of passion and banter and I really can’t wait for the next brother’s book.
Fantastic story! I loved reading about Jason and Mallory and experiencing more of the Blackthorne family. It was so easy to get wrapped up in their world. It’s a definite page-turner. I didn’t like how harsh Inez was with Mallory. Instead of being supportive she came off as really mean.
LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION, spells trouble for two ambitious filmmakers. Jason and Mallory set off sparks behind the scenes. He has much the family name riding on his latest venture. She wants the chance to get her feet wet. When behind the scenes drama gives way to an unpredictable attraction, it’s anyone’s guess the way things will go. Watch this slow flame become an inferno. London heats it up with an entertaining, firecracker that proves itself hard to resist.
Book 2 in this series, it’s amazing so far! 5 stars for Jason, you will fall in love with yet another Blackthorne man!
Jason, always dreamed of being a film producer since losing his parents at a young age. With his families backing, he starts Blackthorne Entertainment. It’s not an easy thing to bring his script to life, you have to have the right people there to help you succeed. When he keeps going through assistants, aspiring film directer Mallory applies for the job and she’s exactly what he needs. She organized to his disorganized, she just knows everything he needs at the time he needs it. The sparks fly between them one late night, but Mallory comes to her senses and steps back and acts like nothing happened. When all hell breaks lost on his show, he summons Mallory to Maine where he is scouting scenes with the director, and once there, those dang sparks fly again! But when the director becomes unreasonable, will this be Mallory’s chance to slip in and take over as director of his show, or will Jason not have the faith in her to let her do her thing.
Grab this one now! I loved it!
I love this idea of having a series about a family where each book about a character is written by a different author. That is exactly how the 7 Brides for 7 Blackthornes series is put together!
Jason (Book 2) is the first book by Julia London that I have read. It was a fun, enjoyable story. Jason and Mallory were perfect for each other in an opposites attract kind of way. He was a disorganized as anyone could be and Mallory was an organization guru! The only problem was, Jason was her boss. He was not easy to work for but there was something endearing about him and Mallory was a fixer and couldn’t help herself, no matter how mad he made her. Even though they seemed to be attracted to each other they had a few obstacles to overcome first. In order for their relationship to work they each had to open up and allow the other one to better understand their past and some of the pain they had gone through.
I hope you take a chance on this book and any of the others. Now, I need to check out the other books in this series!
Oh My, the Blackthorne brother sure know how to live the life and wreak a little havoc while they are at it. Ms. London has given us a well written storyline that delves into the chaotic life of Jason Blackthorne and of course we get snippets into the lives of the brothers, Nana and the blowup between the boys mom & dad / aunt & uncle.
Jason is trying to make it in the filmmaking business with the backing of the Blackthorne money/name. Which of course has them breathing down his neck to be perfect. He’s a messy, workaholic who needs a good PA to keep him on track and on schedule. Mallory has tried acting but her love is behind the scenes. She has aspirations of becoming a director one day. Desperate for work she interviews and gets the job at Blackthorne Entertainment as Jason’s assistant. Luckily for Jason, Mallory has a habit of trying to straighten up everything, from people’s closets, to their offices and even their personal lives. The attraction between these two is high but they know in the entertainment business one scandal can ruin you. So they are doing their best to keep it professional.
But what happens when the wheels start to fall off and they have problem after problem on the set? Mallory wants to step up and do more but will Jason let her? Will he have enough confidence in her to not ruin the project and the Blackthorne name Blackthorne name in the process? Every enjoyable storyline. Looking forward to Brother #3 in the series: Ross.
I really didn’t like Jason, he was too dismissive for my taste. I found his behavior appalling. I get that he is busy and looking to make the best show possible, yet he would not do what was best for that. I did applaud how he handled the scandal. It was immediate and he did not back down. I understood Mallory and what she was doing, I get loyalty but when a better offer came up, in my opinion she should have snapped it up. She should have given notice and let Jason work on making things right. I read on Kindle Unlimited.
Mallory and Jason both wanted more in their careers and they could have gone straight to where they needed to be, but what fun would there be in that? It was a pleasure to watch their story unfold and see how they came together!
Well Done!
