Jane Eyre is the story of a small, plain-faced, intelligent, and passionate English orphan. Jane is abused by her aunt and cousin and then attends a harsh charity school. Through it all she remains strong and determinedly refuses to allow a cruel world to crush her independence or her strength of will. A masterful story of a woman’s quest for freedom and love. Jane Eyre is partly … autobiographical, and Charlotte Bronte filled it with social criticism and sinister Gothic elements. A must read for anyone wishing to celebrate the indomitable strength of will or encourage it in their growing children.

Love this book!
A great drama. This is a classic.
Bronze also speaks a predictable language
One of my favorite classical reads!!!
One of my most favorite books growing up. Seen every movie adaptation ever made. This is a true classic.
Classic.
Jane Eyre is, without a doubt, my favorite book. If I could only read one book for the rest of my life, this would be the one. I first picked up this book way back in the fifth grade (yes, I was a precocious reader), and I have reread it at least once or twice a year since then. There is something about Jane, whose personality is so different from …
This is probably my third or fourth time reading “Jane Eyre,” but my second time in the last couple of years–and I also just finished the miniseries on Amazon with Timothy Dalton concurrently as I listened.
Man. Definitely up there with my top five books of all time, if not #1 (though I would have ranked it #1 for several years.) The Bronte …
This book ignited my love of romance and suspense. I was a teenager when I first read this book, and I’ve watched just about every movie version, though none can truly capture the magic of the Gothic novel. Dark, brooding, romantic, and tense… That’s why this book is a classic.
I have taught this book to high school and college classes, but it has been at least 10 years since I read it. JE is not an easy read, but it’s one of those books that still catches the readers imagination, even though it was written so long ago (1847).
I don’t often re-read books, but when I do I’m surprised that I noticed different things. For …
It’s a toss between the classics of Jane Eyre and her tragic childhood and forlorn love story and Wuthering Heights with the harsh winds and wounds that occur on the moor. The idea of a great cup of herbal tea and a bowl of hearty soup helps me to revisit old friends during snowstorm. Candles, lots of candles, also aid in alleviating the …
I absolutely fell in love with this classic! I recommend this book for anyone that is looking for a not-so-easy read but one that is completely worth it in the end! Charlotte Bronte writes a beautiful unexpected love story, with so many plot twists that it may be hard to keep up! This book provides insight into the real moral depths and conflicts …
Jane Eyre is one of my favorite books of all time. Bronte does such a good job in building the characters of Jane and Mr. Rochester and reflecting life during those times, and the tragic love story between the two of them is unforgettable. I go back to reread this book often just because it’s so well written–a classic.
Best FREE classic I have read (so far). No need to review in a traditional way as this book is already up there. I will say for an old-time book it was remarkably fresh, I thought the author extremely poetic… If I had one fluid ounce of Bronte’s ink I would be a much more successful writer.

Bronte tells Jane Eyre’s story an investigation of her train of thought as she assesses in detail the qualities of the people surrounding her. It’s basically a coming-of-age story of a young woman who survives a stifling upbringing within a brutal hierarchal culture that fosters barbaric child-rearing beliefs. Through happenstance, luck and fine …
All-time favorite
Just read this for the first time and loved every page.
Jane, an outcast – orphaned, her emotions invisible to those surrounding her. She struggles to find purpose and meaning in life despite harsh circumstances – despite the absence of love.
Jane, the epitome of loneliness – forsaken by living family. Yet, her courage, perseverance, and a little luck or divine providence invade her life to redeem …
I will always remember the cold mornings going to work in NYC subway with a hot thermo of coffee and this beautiful book
traveling … with Brontë’s wonderful characters.
Great book
Highly recommended !!!!!
