From a fan favorite author with more than one million books sold: Four brothers find love in unexpected places in this western historical series. Connie has always been the plain one. The responsible one. The dutiful one. She always stood in her beautiful cousin’s shadow, but now her cousin is dead. Connie is left to pick up the pieces and do right by her little niece, Megan, which means … which means delivering the girl to her father. But nothing is as it seems. Jake denies being the father. Worse, the attraction Connie once felt for the enigmatic rancher still exists, though she has always been invisible to him.
Jake Hooper lost his mother, his father, and then his sweetheart, who left him without so much as a word of explanation. When Connie shows up with a child she claims is his, he knows it can’t be true.
Jake determines to take Connie and Megan to Fort Macleod. They aren’t his responsibility. And after all the loss he has suffered, he can’t bear to open his heart again.
But the more time they spend together, the more one charming little girl and her fiery aunt sneak into Jake’s heart. Will he be able to cut ties and leave them on their own? Or will his honor—and his heart—require a different answer?

Nice story. Likable characters.
A sweet, short Romance story!
The story-line is a very nice Christian read and I enjoyed it. I loved the four brothers and their sister, Audrey. A long-ago acquaintance, Connie, comes visiting but isn’t alone. Baby Megan is a joy and Bowser loves her. It’s a great Sunday afternoon read.
I spent a delightful day reading this story. Thank you for this Christian entertainment. I cannot wait to read the next one. Lunda, you are a treasure!!!
I really enjoyed this book. I have read so many of Linda Ford’s books now that I recognize the conflicts, and I can tell that the main couple is bound to connect in a loving, deep, meaningful way. And still, these inspirational stories have the flavor of true parables, they show a way of life that is founded on rock-solid faith, or show the characters coming into that faith, they teach us historical information and some “how-to-do-its” along the way. I find my housework much more meaningful and enjoyable after reading her books, in fact, I read Linda’s books for motivation to do better. These books bring us closer to God, give us a deeper love for the Bible, and comfort our souls in the process.
Connie fulfilled her cousin’s last wish: She traveled across Canada to Jake’s family ranch to bring Jake his baby daughter. But Jake denied responsibility and instead fell for Connie. And his whole family was all for it. All but Connie! Yet, his four brothers and sister blamed Jake! What an old fashioned mess with constant shyness and miscommunications. This warm book combines exquisite scenery with excellent characterization, and a few nail-biting dramatic situations. I read it straight through, turning it page-after-page hoping to find the two main characters would finally truly understand each other. I’ll let you read the book to find out. A most enjoyable and highly recommended book!
Another great book by Linda Ford. Love the history of the area and time and especially that the characters depend on their faith to get then through all situations.
Great story and great lessons in the story!
The characters were all well done––even the baby and the dog!
The dialog seemed natural and the emotions true.
There are some heart-rending bits, but the the over all feeling of the story is loving and full of hope.
No spoilers. You’ll want to read this one yourself.
