Jake The Growling Dog Goes To Doggy Daycare by Samantha Shannon. His is a new to me author. This book was so cute and adorable. While I don’t have youngsters anymore, I know that I will definitely be rereading this story to my grand daughter over and over again. The illustrations are beautifully done and really bring out the storyline more. This was a wonderful children’s book and I look forward to sharing more with my grand daughter.
We loved Jake! My four year old and I read this book the other day. She said his story is just like her when she goes to daycare and wanted to read more Jake books.
I thought it was a cute little book for kids. Jake is a fun character and has relatable actions to most kids everyday lives. Super adorable!

Goes to doggy daycare

Jake finds out he will be leaving his comfort zone. This worries him, luckily one of his close friends from home is able to sneak away with him and helps him adjust. This is an awesome story for children, it shows them how when you are nervous about new situations there is a way to handle them. Also that even animals get nervous. It is a hard thing for children when they have new situations in their day to day lives, and books are a great way to show them that what they feel is normal. Author Samatha Shannon does a good job with Jake the Growling Dog.
Jake the Growling Dog Goes to Doggy DayCare
By Samantha Shannon
Jake the Growling Dog Goes to Doggy DayCare is the first book I have read by Samantha Shannon. This beautifully written book is about a dog called Jake who goes to doggy daycare when his humans go away on a short break. Jake is nervous about going to daycare as he is never away from his humans, but his fur friend Neet tells him he will make new friends there. Jake is not sure as he already has his best friends in Neet, Molly and Pom and doesn’t see why he needs more. To make him feel better Neet hides in Jake’s fur and goes to doggy daycare with him. While Jake is nervous to go there he soon finds out the fun there is to be had. What I really liked about this book is the self help section at the end of the book. In this section it gives children tips on how to handle things when they are scared or worried about new situations. I am going to buy this book for my younger grandchildren to read or have read to them.
Jake the Growling Dog Goes to Doggy Daycare by Samantha Shannon is a brilliantly written children’s book that has a fantastic message to children about friendship, comfort and kindness towards themselves and each other.
Jake the Growling dog has to go to doggy day care and is worried about meeting new dogs and having new experiences, the book goes on to show how the children can deal with stress and how to deal with new things/places and people.
The sections at the back of the book are especially good as they explain different ways to help children stay calm and relax in an unusual situation. Especially in this pandemic at the moment, the scenarios and explanations that Shannon gives and helps children with it so important and can not just be used for children but for adults as well. I am really impressed at the way Shannon has gone into so much detail and information to give to parents/adults to help their children in those situations.
Also the illustrations are bright and colourful and very attractive to look at which will encourage children to read along with their parents or even just look at the pages more.
The book is a brilliant way for parents to teach their children about how to handle stress from new situations and introducing themselves to new people and I would definitely recommend it!
I picked this book up out of sheer curiosity. I love children’s books, I read them all the time. My boys are older, but still it was great fun reading this book together. My older one really enjoyed it too.
This is a story of a dog Jake who has to go to a daycare for the first time, and he is very apprehensive about it. He is used to the comforts of his home and his little friends, whom he has befriended at home. One of his friends, the squirrel Neet, comforts him saying he will accompany him to the daycare. Jake is relieved and both Neet and Jake head off to the day care.
Jake finds new friends there and has lot of fun at the daycare. He is well fed and taken care of. He has a great experience. It is a very sweet story everyone can relate to. The apprehension and fear of Jake when he sets off to a new place and the comfort he finds when his friend Neet agrees to go with him are so simply yet beautifully explained. And this is not for Jake alone, isn’t it the problem each one of us face when we go to a new place? And think about the relief which sweeps over us when someone familiar accompanies us??
A beautiful book!!
Such a cute story. Many kids, whether it’s daycare, school, first sleepover or even anything new, can benefit from this book. And who better to help ease their fears than Jake the Growling dog!
Jake had a friend help him see that doggy daycare wasn’t as scary as he thought it would be. Super cute, loved the colorful pictures. This series can go so far and cover so many things and I can’t wait to read whatever comes in the future.

I had a little issue with the first of this series as it felt like I stumbled through the words while trying to read to my grandsons. This one was so much better, the flow worked perfectly and I was actually asked to read it again. So big thumbs up from the littles.
This story had a great message and I just love the activities that come along with it. The boys really enjoyed this part and came up with all kinds of ideas I hadn’t even thought of. That was awesome!
I do recommend both books in this series, the first was still a great story and they both make the kids look beyond the growling dog and really seem to understand the messages.
Awesome Job!!

Jake the Growling Dog Goes to Doggy Daycare (Jake the Growling Dog Book 2) by Samantha Shannon
My two year old son absolutely loves his books and he instantly claimed this one,I honestly can’t tell you how many times we’ve read about Jake going to daycare. It’s a cute story that has a great message. Jake was worried he wouldn’t fit in or make any new friends at doggy daycare but he soon finds out it’s a fun place to be. Jake soon finds his friend Neet is along to help him not feel so alone. One positive thing I took away from this book is not to be afraid to step outside of your normal ,adventure can be fun if you allow yourself to be yourself. I love this series and we can’t wait to see what adventure awaits us next. I highly recommend reading this as it’s good for any age

Jake the Growling Dog Goes to Doggy Daycare by Samantha Shannon is quite a cute, feel-good children’s book, that is suitable for all ages.
I am always looking for books to read with my grandson, so when this showed up on my feed it looked like something he would enjoy, so I took the chance and grabbed a copy.
We have read the book together several times now, over video calling due to the social distancing imposed at this time, and he has really enjoyed it. It’s a cute and sweet read with wonderful lessons. The illustrations are interesting, colourful, and beautifully drawn- They really brought the ‘story’ to life and added some brightness to the book.
A great little story with a wonderful message.
Thank you, Samantha Shannon!
Jake the Growling Dog Goes to Doggy Day Care by Samantha Shannon is a brilliant follow up to the first book. I read this book to my daughter and she absolutely loved it. She was engaged with the book from the start. She was interacting with the pictures and each page made her pause to “tell me all about it”.
I also loved this book. This story was so good and was a great way to see what might be going on in my little ones mind. It was a fun story that was easy to read and enjoyable for all. I would recommend this to any parent!
Jake the Growling Dog Goes to Doggy Daycare by Samantha Shannon. First off, let me say that this book was adorable and my kids and I loved reading it together. While there is a story about Jake Goes to Daycare, there are also little stories and lessons throughout the book. Which are great to go over with your children as you’re reading it. It is almost like it is a study guide along with the book.
My four-year-old and my five-year-old loved listening to me read this book and watch as Jake bounded off to one adventure after another. Jake is a likable and fun puppy who is heading off to a new environment (Doggy Daycare) facing challenges and fears along the way. The kids were able to draw a correlation from Jakes fears and worries to their own. And see the author transform these worries into adventures and happy thoughts.
My kids understood Jake’s fears and worries and excitableness easier because of being a puppy. Samantha Shannon does an excellent job on creating the character and making him such a love able puppy.
This book is amazing for children who are experiencing new environments. I will continue to read this story to my children.
Jake the Growling Dog Goes to Doggy Daycare by Samantha Shannon is cute and I along with my grandsons loved the illustrations and the story. This children’s book by Samantha has definitely hit the mark with it’s messages of trying new things even though you are scared. This book is fun and interactive and worth the read.
Jake the Growling dog Goes to Daycare by Samantha Shannon is such a cute little book. I read this book to the kids I babysit and they absolutely loved it! It´s message is perfect for growing children to learn. The kids and I greatly enjoyed the artwork as well. I definitely recommend this book for anyone with younger children!
With three young daughters of my own, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the message it contained. I found the story and illustrations charming and cannot wait to share this latest Jake adventure with my kids. I know they will love everything about this!
Let me just start this review off by saying I enjoy reading to my boys. I have 2 sons: A 5-year old and a 4-mo.-old (close to 5) months and they love learning and enjoying time together just as much as I enjoy reading for them and to them. This book did not disappoint and I wanted to read it because lately my son has been having a problem with being obedient as he’s growing into his own. Anyway, here goes what I got from the book:
Jake, the dog, is off to a new environment (daycare) but he doesn’t know what to expect. He’s on alert because he’s in a new place and he has to try new things. He’s trying to prepare but he needs help. Maybe something familiar can help ease his mind in this setting.
He’s pretty comfortable where he’s been: At home with his comfy bed, his great friends, and his daily walk on his favorite trail. He’s worried about how the other pups will see him and get to know him. Scared, Jake runs away, as he doesn’t want to leave his home for someplace new and scary. Little does he know his best friend, Neet and his family are there to comfort him. Jake is gonna try to embrace the new place and try out new things. Turns out he’s not the only one feeling uneasy in this new situation of his. Everybody needs friendship and empathy and that’s just how Jake’s family comforts him.
This is a fun and interactive read for young children. Jake is hesitant when it comes to change, and is apprehensive at the thought of being away from his home. When he voices his concern to his best friend, Neet devises a plan for them to go together and help with the transition. A little support is always appreciated!
As the story continues, Jake is accompanied by his bestie as he ventures out to meet the others. His anxiety threatens to get the best of him. But because of his squirrel friend, he can handle things. In the end, Jake conquers a stressful situation. It’s a valuable lesson for kids on how to deal with uncomfortable situations.
I loved how the author made a section in the back with detailed instructions for coping activities. Its a way of breaking it down for young readers so that they’re able to learn in more ways than one. This was so sweet! I loved the illustrations as well. They were very well done!
