The Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs series continues with a couple fighting to keep what they thought they had and gain what they didn’t know they needed.Roxie Montgomery met her soul mate when she least expected it. When he asked her to marry him, she thought her happily ever after was only just beginning. Then, she found that walking into the sunset was much harder than her favorite books made … books made it out to be. After a crushing loss, she feels as though she doesn’t know her husband anymore, or rather…she doesn’t know herself.
Carter Marshall has loved Roxie since the first time he saw her. But as the days pass between them, so does the distance. He doesn’t know how to show her that he’s all in, and honestly doesn’t know if she’s in at all. When an accident changes everything, they’ll have to decide if what they have can be salvaged, or if starting over is the answer. Or even possible.
Without fighting, without a true new beginning, sometimes, the remnants of what was lost can leave anyone jagged, shells of what they were before. It will take more than the idea of forever for Roxie and Carter to find themselves again, but as the Montgomerys know, nothing worth fighting for is easy.

Amazing! I love the whole Montgomery crew. That said I’ve been waiting for Roxie’s story with bated breath and boy was it a doozie. Carrie Ann is a fantastic writer and this story is right up there on my most favorite list. Marriage is hard and Roxie and Carter show us just how hard and what kind of work you have to put in to have a successful one. I loved the dynamic these two develop as the story unfolds. It was a crazy road these two had to travel and boy was it worth reading. Another winner in the Montgomery clan saga.
The first half of this book tore my heart apart and the second half put it back together. Roxie and Carter were already married, but had been drifting apart because of a traumatic event that they experienced. Their marriage was pretty much over because of how they distanced from each other after this event. Neither knew how to communicate with the other and that is what lead to one of them filing for divorce. Now, you can’t read a Montgomery Ink story without a HEA, and Carrie Ann Ryan definitely delivered one for these two. This is one of the most emotional stories I think I’ve read and I absolutely adored it. It goes to show that just because a couple got married doesn’t mean the hard times are over. I can’t recommend this story enough, but I think readers should be prepared for an emotionally trying story. If you get through the tough times with Roxie and Carter, you will get to their happiness and feel stronger with them at the end. Loved this book!
Carrie Ann Ryan steps out of her comfort zone to deliver an emotional & raw story that shows how life is messy sometimes. With this story, she wraps up the Colorado Springs Series with Roxie & Carter. Carrie Ann takes us on roller coaster ride of emotions. She lets us in on what is going on inside of them. It is those thoughts that have stalled the relationship. They are dealing with a loss. And, on top of it, an injury Carter endures when trying to save her sister, Thea, from the 2nd book. Like a raft navigating a river, sometimes it gets hung up on a rock, is where we find Roxie & Carter….stuck. They know that they love each other. They know they don’t want their relationship to come to end. They each make some mistakes. Neither one seems to know how to just take the bull by the horns to get them back on path. Part of that is due to the thoughts that they have going on inside their heads…..that is what has them stalled. There is a moment in the book that you’ll have to read for yourself that wakes up Carter and has him going to Roxie to let her know that she is it for him & he isn’t letting her go. No matter how slow they have to go. He is not going anywhere. That he is fighting for their relationship. And, that sparks a fire in Roxie. She doesn’t want to end their relationship either. I applaud Carrie Ann Ryan for writing their story from this angle. To show us, that sometimes life is not easy but messy. It is different and was not easy for her to write this. I can feel that in the power of those raw moments of what Roxie & Carter wanted to do but were just so unsure of themselves or how to go about it. This story shows another side of Carrie Ann Ryan. And, I’m looking forward to what she has lined up for us next.
This book.
Dear god.
It’s breathlessly, painfully, hopefully and genuinely amazing. It takes you on a roller coaster of emotions. It leaves you gasping, crying, screaming for more. For the characters and their circumstances and yourself as a reader. Tears were shed with this one and I don’t cry often.
Watching Roxie and Carter try to find their new normal. Watching their family try to push them for better. Watching their love grow and recede and prosper was such an intense and heart wrenching read. I wanted to put it down after a couple of scenes, I wanted to walk away and take a breather. But I couldn’t, because I needed to know what happened. Why it happened. And how they were going to overcome.
Carrie Ann Ryan will always be a good to read for me, and after this book that’s just cemented in my heart. Roxie and Carter are by far one of my top 5 favorite couples of hers, top 10 of couples in general. I will remember them and their stories for a long time.
Carter in general broke my heart so many times, so many times I genuinely wanted to reach into the pages and pull him to me and just hug him. And Roxie, she’s so strong and determined, but lost and scared at the same time. It’s a beautiful evolution of her character as a woman and a wife.
Have some tissues ready for this one.
5 BEAUTIFUL REAL STARS!! This story is beautifully written and so true to real life. Carter and Roxie story was painful, heartfelt and perfectly written. As always this author gives us a fantastic book that you can’t put down. I highly suggest reading this book.
In this one we are given what it really takes in a relationship especially one you believed to be your forever. We get to follow and experience Roxie and Carter through thick and thin. Second chance romances get my adrenaline going with the suspense in there. Life will give you smacks and hugs but it is all on how you tread with it. Whoever said you do not work at a marriage is not or was not married. This one shows that to get that forever you have to have the right road but getting lost on the way is a fight to get back on the right one you take it. The emotions will run deep and sometimes pull out of you what you did not even know was waiting. This one will pull out all the as they say.
Love isn’t easy after I love you and I dos have been said. They’re not a Magic spell to make all the troubles go away…..they just help you deal with all the crap that life throws your way
It’s ok not to be perfect. And it’s ok to ask for help. If only you can find your voice
I loved this book so much. It’s gritty and real and so heartwrenchingly sad but sweet and honest and so emotional. I loved the way that both Roxie and Carter felt just like everyone else if they’re honest – inadequate and haven’t got a clue. But the hardest thing to do is to use your words to express how you feel. Especially when they matter so much. When the person means everything to you.
A word of warning I cried and sobbed so hard I hurt my throat. I know I’m gonna have a major headache because of all the tears – but it’s worth it. This book is amazing.
Oh my God this book! Get your tissues ready! In this book Roxie and Carter start off married. This book is completely different than most it shows what happens after the HEA. It is so emotional and real. Carter and Roxie’s marriage is in trouble, they must figure out if it is worth fighting for or if they are better off apart. This book was amazing!
Roxie is a Montgomery. She is married to Carter. He was hurt when her sister Thea’s bakery was targeted and he was burned protecting her. Roxie files for divorce, when Carter comes home from the hospital, he sees the papers. He moves out after signing them. She does not sign them. They begin dating again, they both want to be back to where they were. They go away for a weekend, talk a lot. They do not get divorced.
We find out Shea and Shep are having another baby.
I can’t wait for more books from the Montgomery Family.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Loved this book, even though it took me almost a full box of tissue to get through it. The fact that sometimes love isn’t enough is tough to think about makes this a tough book to read, but we’ll worth reading.
This is book 3 in the Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs series and I recommend that you read the first 2 before reading this one. Otherwise you may not understand things that are talked about in this book that happened in the previous books. We finally get Roxie and Carter’s story and let me tell you, bring the tissues because you will need them when you understand exactly what happened between them! Roxie and Carter have drifter further and further apart and neither know what to do, until it’s almost too late. This book brings out all the feelings and it may be hard for some to read. The reason behind them drifting apart is hard, and the lack of communication between them was even harder to read. And about 3/4’s of the way through, I honestly didn’t think they were going to get their HEA. The line in the book that sometimes love isn’t enough, I don’t think that has ever been more accurately portrayed than in this book. The fact that they both figured out just how much they truly not only loved each other, but needed each other was beautifully written. They learned that while yes, the love was always there (even when they didn’t necessarily feel it from the other), that communication and support from not only each other but family is key to any relationship. When they finally took the time to SPEAK about what happened and how much it hurt them, they could finally move on and find themselves and their marriage again. I loved it! This book is incredibly difficult on the emotions but it just shows how hard real marriages are. How much you have to work at them, and really, truly communicate with your partner through thick and thin. Or you just might lose the one person you love above all else. Absolutely beautiful story about what real marriage is like!
The Montgomery Ink – Colorado Springs series continues with Carter Marshall and Roxie Montgomery, a couple fighting to keep what they need.
I’m going to start by saying you will need tissues, ice cream and chocolate. This book was hard to read, because of the depth of emotions in this book and took me a little longer to be able to get through it. But, I’m so glad I read Roxie and Carter’s story. Roxie and Carter were married and happy together, until they weren’t. Something happens and their world is torn apart. This isn’t your typical romance, it starts after the marriage. There were many tears shed while reading this book, and my heart hurt for Roxie and Carter.
I was a little frustrated at the beginning of this book as Carter and Roxie would not sit down and talk to each other and deal with the elephant in the room, instead they just continued to circle it. You could see that they still loved each other and didn’t want their marriage to end. But I’m so glad I read till the end and went on this roller coaster of emotions with them.
I really loved this book! I have read very few books with couples that are already married. This book was an emotional roller coaster. Marriage has ups and downs just like a roller coaster and takes lots of work to last. Sit back and grab your Kleenex. You will need it for this wonderful second chance story.
Carter and Roxie’s story was different than your typical boy meets girl romance. Roxie and Carter are already married and thru previous books there has been that underlying tension that there was a conflict buried under the surface. They kept their friends and family in the dark and trying to pretend all was well. I was so curious to know what they were hiding from everyone else. I won’t spoil it for anyone but this was a great read. Roxie and Carter have to decide if their marriage is worth fighting for or just throw in the towel and walk away. Everyone grows and changes but can a marriage survive it? Can their marriage survive? You can read this as a standalone but I really recommend reading the whole series. Carrie Ann Ryan has built an amazing family in every page she writes. I love the Montgomery’s and their circle of friends.
FINALLLLLYYYYYYY. The elephant of Roxie and Carter was getting bigger and bigger as this series went on. I was so curious as to why they were falling apart, but I had my ideas from some of their interactions in previous books. Man, I was so damn sad to know that I was right!! Since this was the only married couple, yet these lease “lovey” couple, I was super curious and that curiosity just kept building.
The beginning of this book killed me!! I was SO happy that Carter was ok, but I really ached for these two because they were so lost. Not only were they lost, it was as if they’d both shut down and completely quit talking to each other. The lack of communication between these two really wanted to make my pull my hair out. I don’t know how they could live with each other and just completely ignore each other. Also they assumed they knew what each other wanted. YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU ASSUME!!! And damn did they make asses out of themselves! But, the frustration is really want drives you to keep reading. You think, surely they have to explode at some time right?
WABAM…. that explosion was amazing!!! I really loved how Carrie Ann made these two realize that they needed to talk. It was BRILLIANT!!! I’m not sure there would have been a better way to make someone realize they need to change. Speaking of that change, I adored how these two reconnected! Beginning again was just the BEST idea! Them dating again meant they were truly fighting, they were fighting to be alive again and fighting to thrive as a couple again. And these two, they hadn’t been thriving as individuals or a couple in so long. I also liked how this seemed to bring a fun side of them out. I liked seeing them reconnect and rediscover themselves since we didn’t see this first.
What I really loved the most though? Their family! These Montgomery’s are all so tight knit, and I was just waiting for them to finally drop the anvil and make these two talk again! In the best way they know how, the Montgomery’s and their friends really did a lot for Carter and Roxie. Also along those lines, I am all the more curious about Kaylee and Landon. These couples just keep getting more and more interesting! I can’t wait to keep going
What another wonderful read by Carrie Ann Ryan. Jagged Ink dives deep into Roxie and Carter’s marriage and their problems. This book was an emotional read seeing how these two had dealt with their relationship and then seeing how their love for each other comes out stronger on the other side. The Montgomerys are one of my favorite families to read about!
Jagged Ink is the third book in the Colorado Springs series. Since the moment we found out about the tension between Carter and Roxie I have been waiting for their story. I thought that the events of book 2 would be a turning point for their relationship and the timeline of these two books would overlap, but that wasn’t the case. This book begins around the time book 2 ended.
As much as I love the author I have to be honest. Jagged Ink was very frustrating. I kept wishing that Carter and Roxie would sit down like two adults and talk, but they were always circling around the topic. It’s clear that they are still in love with each other and they don’t want their marriage to end, but after what happened they can’t voice the words. I just wanted to lock them in a room until they had a serious conversation. I am not a fan of miscommunication and it went on for quite some time in this book. I guessed early on what happened and drove them apart since it’s hinted in some ways. I wanted them to voice it though and that didn’t happen until late. I loved the part where they decided to work things out though. It was well written.
The story has a little angst, frustration, sadness, hope, and happiness. It’s basically one rollercoaster of emotions. It wasn’t a bad book, but I was expecting more from the author.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book
We have come to the end of the Colorado Springs branch of the Montgomery tree with Roxie and Carter’s story.
If you are new to Carrie Ann Ryan”s Montgomery clan don’t fret you won’t be lost as each book in the series is a stand alone story, reading the other stories isn’t mandatory it’s just plain FUN!!!
Roxie and Carter’s story is a little different because they are already married, but that marriage is coming to a end and it isn’t because of a lack of love.
Ryan shows us what a lack of communication does to a marriage with this one and boy does she just rip those heartstrings apart with it. As I said a lack of love is not what drives these two, Roxie and Carter have soo much love for each other that it is a beautiful thing and seeing that fall apart is just awful, however there is a happy ending in sight.
Falling apart, divorce papers, and a blind date is the push that is needed (Wow that is one heck of a push) to get Carter to see that what they need is communication and to fight for them.
Only Ryan can rip you apart and put you back together with a nice little bow and introduce the next Montgomery Branch in one awesome story. She also showed me that no matter what talk to your partner, no matter what it is or how you think you’re being strong for them by not talking, because in the end it will just end up hurting you both more.
This book had me holding my breath at the beginning as Carter saves Thea when the oven in her bakery blows up. It was instinct, Thea is Roxie’s sister and he would do anything to save Roxie pain. As he recovers from the burns, the lack of communication between him and Roxie becomes more apparent to the family.
This is more than just a lack of communication, this is a total withdrawal from each other. It’s so bad before the accident Roxie had filed for divorce. Carter sees the papers when he walks in the door from the hospital. Not exactly a warm homecoming.
This is a story of stepping back and starting over, it is heartbreaking and emotional. Family tries to stay away from the conflict while sending Liam to give a touch of support to Roxie.
Carter leaves because that’s what Roxie wants, not what he desires. He stays with their friend Landon and also has the support of her brother, Ryan.
I really wanted to smack these two, they are obviously in love with each other but have no communication skills whatsoever. The journey had me crying and hoping they could find their way.
I loved their new beginning with the wonderful dates and slow start to talking about what really is at the heart of everything.
Jagged Ink is Book 3 of Carrie Ann Ryan’s Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs series. This story stands perfectly fine on its own but since we have felt the tension between Roxie and Carter in the earlier stories, I couldn’t wait to read this one. This one is a bit different than the usual romances I read as they are already married.
Carter and Roxie met, fell in love and married very quickly until everything started to fall apart on them. I adored both of these characters but their main issue was that they kept everything bottled up and didn’t share their feelings with each other. I can’t even begin to count how many times I wanted to yell at them to SHARE and stop ASSUMING!!!
Overall this was an excellent addition to the series.
