Sadie Slade was the love of my life. I left for college promising her I’d be back in four years. She stayed behind promising me she’d wait. We both broke our promises. When we bump into each other five years later my feelings for her come rushing to the surface. I want her back. She wants me gone. How quickly my Sadie Girl has forgotten—I’ve never been the type of man who accepts defeat. No matter … been the type of man who accepts defeat.
No matter the cost.
Jack Daniels was my entire life.
Until he wasn’t.
Now he’s back and thinks we should pick up where we left off.
I miss the simplicity of what we had.
I miss how easily we fit together.
Truthfully…I miss him.
But if I allow him to get too close, he’ll see I’m not the same girl he left behind five years ago.
He thinks I’m upset about our break up.
The truth is so much worse.

omg!! He is finally here! If your have read the fighting series then you know Jackson is the infamous Blake Daniel’s Son!! I’ve never been so excited for a book before!!! Jack is all grown up and going to college in NY. His only regret is leaving behind the love of his life, Sadie Slade. Years later he has a great job at Riot Advertising and is getting ready to attend his friends wedding. Sadie stayed in Vegas to attend community college for art. When they both bump into each other again they are anything but good. Can she forgive him for never coming back home? So much has changed since their long distance romance didn’t work but one thing didn’t…their feelings for each other. Can Jackson find a way to get her to talk to him? This is a beautiful, emotional second chance romance and fits perfectly within the series! This can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading all the fighting series boys!! Jackson and Sadie are Perfection!! My heart breaks for Sadie. Told in dual POV; PS this book has the best soundtrack!
WOW!!! This story was beautiful!!
I have loved all of the Fighting series books but Jonah, he was my very favorite! So to get his daughter’s story, along with Blake’s son, I was so excited for this book! And it was so much more than I expected it to be.
Sadie and Jack grew up loving each other. But it seems that isn’t always enough. Life seemed to get in the way when Jack went off to college. And eventually Sadie gave up on waiting for something that seemed to get farther and farther away. And if that wasn’t enough, life decided to really teach her a hard lesson. But she isn’t her parent’s daughter for nothing, and eventually she figures out how to take her life back. And just as that’s all coming together, Jack shows up again.
Jack, or should I say JACKSON, Daniels, is Blake’s son, and totally not what I expected! I was kind of disappointed in him in the beginning. In his eagerness to prove himself in the world he chose to live in he seemed to lose everything that his parents taught him, everything Sadie fell in love with. But when he ran into Sadie again he started remembering what made him feel alive, who he needed to be able to stop and breath again.
This is Jack & Sadie’s story. And it isn’t easy, it’s kind of messy, but in the end it’s EVERYTHING I’ve come to love from this author!!!
“If I couldn’t be with you, I wanted to be as close to you as I could get. I figured even if I had to do it alone, I wanted to live out the life I promised you.”
Y’all. This story broke my heart so many times and then put it all back together.
I read the synopsis for this book long ago ago and it sounded like my type of thing. I mean, boy leaves girl behind for college with the promise to return for her in 4 years… they’re waiting for each other, so they can make the life they always planned for THEN boy doesn’t come back. COME. ON. I HAD to know what happened. I was so intrigued!! My actual star rating is a 4.5. This was my first JB Salsbury book even though I have seen so many romance readers rave about her books. I picked up pretty quickly that there are side characters in this book that are in her Fighting series and knew without a doubt that I would be going back to read those stories. Color me intrigued. I also understood why her books are so well loved. I’m not the biggest reader of friends to lovers but I think this may fall more under second chance romance. Typically my problem with stories when two characters have already been together or are great friends, there isn’t enough conflict for me, or drama. I thought the author did an amazing job of giving huge roadblocks for these characters to find their love.
Sadie Slade and Jack Daniels have only ever had eyes for each other, since they were small children. You meet them as they have just graduated from high school, living in Las Vegas and Jack is headed to New York for college. I ADORED that Sadie isn’t your “perfect” female love interest. She has a learning disability but lives for her art. Jack and Sadie had made promises to start their lives together in 4 years, after Jack has graduated from NYU. But four years is a long time and even longer at that stage of a person’s life. You do so much changing in those years just out of high school. Some of their changes they chose for themselves, some they didn’t. They both think they’re fine, just moving along with their new realities when they see each other and things start to unfold.
I really loved the vulnerability of Sadie. My heart was bleeding all over the floor for her. Then sweet, dumb, lovable, clueless Jack over here just making a mess. Child. I loved watching him scramble. I thought the story was an incredible one. Like I said, I know I will be going back to read the Fighting series now but I’m hoping to get more on some side characters from this story. Sadie has a best friend and I just know their story will be FANTASTIC.. Soooo much potential! Even if this author doesn’t go the way of the side characters, I will for sure be keeping an eye for whatever she brings next!
Jack and Sadie have been in love for as long as they can remember, but when he goes away for college things change. Sadie has gone through something traumatic, and she doesn’t want to tell anyone about it so she has distanced herself. When they run into each other after some time she isn’t sure she likes the changes that have happened in Jack. Will he be able to get her to see they belong together or has to much time passed? Are they just to different from the kids they used to be? I thought the book dragged on a little to much, but overall I enjoyed it.
Ohhh Jack and Sadie! They really tugged on my heart strings. I really enjoyed this twist on a second chance romance. I wasn’t a fan of the cat-fishing aspect but it did go along with the storyline and Jack’s job. The author really made Jack work to get Sadie back and I loved that Sadie was strong enough not to let him get away with a bunch of BS. These two characters grow and learn from their experiences both past and present. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.
Wow.. I was anticipating a second chance romance. And it’s all of that plus. I refuse to give spoilers in my review. What an emotional ride Jack and Sadie took. So glad I took that journey with them.
What a beautiful heart breaking story about Jack and Sadie. This story broke my heart and was able to put it back together again so beautifully. The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat. I couldn’t stop reading until I finished this wonderful thrilling sexy story. Their love was so pure and everlasting. Loved reading about the next generation I loved this story and I can’t wait to read more by JB Salisbury.
I was so thrilled to hear Jack and Sadie were getting a book and the Fighting world was being revisited! Jack & Sadie didn’t disappoint! Just as good, if not better than the Fighting series.
The story begins with young Jack and Sadie in love. You see the two thrust apart many years later and learn just why Sadie is unwilling to open her heart to Jack once more.
Jack coincidentally shows up at Sadies’ workplace reuniting the two once again but their journey back to each other isn’t an easy one. Jack isn’t the same young boy Sadie fell in love and the two have to learn to compromise to be with each other.
With cameos of our fave characters, namely Blake, Jonah and Raven make this book fun and entertaining and give it a really homely vibe. I’m crossing my fingers Jacks’ brother gets a book. He’d be an interesting read. Praise once again to JB’s beautiful and fluent writing style.

Jack and Sadie. We were all so excited when we got to experience you first entering the book world and we’re absolutely thrilled we got to hear your story.
Visiting the fighting crew always feels like coming home, so needless to say I was counting down the days to this release. Even though there were a few moments while reading that my heart stopped and I felt like I couldn’t turn the page while cussing this amazing author, I knew she wouldn’t let me down. I knew her goal was to put my emotions through the ringer and I do believe that in between the cussing there was laughter followed by tears. Lots of tears. It wouldn’t be a JB Salsbury book if I wasn’t cussing, laughing and crying AT THE SAME TIME!
This story was everything I expected and more. I never want to stop visiting this gang. So now it’s a proven fact, If you can write the ‘kids’ story and it be a freaking 5 star read, I fully expect a book on Jack and Sadie’s kids, and their kids after that and so on.
Fantastic story, gave me all the feels and I expect only the best from this author. Good thing she NEVER let’s me down.
