“Utterly charming . . . Put Sophie Kinsella’s Number on speed dial.”—USA Today Poppy Wyatt has never felt luckier. She is about to marry her ideal man, Magnus Tavish, but in one afternoon her “happily ever after” begins to fall apart. Not only has she lost her engagement ring in a hotel fire drill, but in the panic that follows, her phone is stolen. As she paces shakily around the lobby, … paces shakily around the lobby, she spots an abandoned phone in a trash can. Finders keepers! Now she can leave a number for the hotel to contact her when they find her ring. Perfect!
Well, perfect except that the phone’s owner, businessman Sam Roxton, doesn’t agree. He wants his phone back and doesn’t appreciate Poppy reading his messages and wading into his personal life.
What ensues is a hilarious and unpredictable turn of events as Poppy and Sam increasingly upend each other’s lives through emails and text messages. I swear I laughed so hard I snorted too many times reading this one! So totally different from the shopaholic series. Poppy is a trip, she loses her engagement ring, has her cell phone stolen, finds a phone in the trash can of all places and proceeds to keep it. Of course, her fiancé is Mr. Wrong and the owner of the phone she kept ,well, let’s just say he’s a little uptight and wants his phone back. So you’d think she’d give it back, right? Of course not, she decides to help him! What ensues is at times embarrassing, hilarious and just plain fun! This one’s a definite keeper for the re read pile.
I just read I’ve Got Your Number and Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella. Her writing reminds me of Helen Fielding. Fun and interesting stories that aren’t too heavy.
I read this a few years ago and I LOVED it so much! I think of it often and wished I remembered what the title was. Now I have the book again and it will be a re-read!
This is in Ms. Kinsella’s usual style, but each is entertaining and not like re-reading the same story. Likeable and flawed main character struggles her way through life. A pleasant read.
Love Sophie Kinsella!
My very favorite Sophie Kinsella book. I’ve read it a couple of times–and I don’t usually do that, except for certain Susan Elizabeth Phillips’ books and Jane Austen, of course.
This one is laugh-out-loud hilarious–the kind of humor that makes you gasp for breath. Just one little example–the Beyonce song in the opening chapter.
Okay, one more. “Sam’s” dog memorial poem. The commentary on it was one of the funniest things I’ve ever read.
Can’t praise this one enough. Fun, Fun, Fun (even if your daddy takes the t-bird away).
This is an an easy read that will make you smile. It’s full of fun and once I’d started reading, I couldn’t put the book down.
I could reread this book over and over again and stil laugh
I really liked the story and characters, it is a very good book.
Poppy finds the phone Sam’s PA threw out when she quit. Poppy’s was stolen so she asks Sam to let her share the phone with him for a few days and promises she’ll forward all of his emails and messages.
Not only is Poppy funny, kind and generous, but she’s really nosy and as a result of the phone sharing, Sam and the rest of us learn how nosy she is and how she thinks Dam should deal with some of the people he communicates with.
This was a clever story with the modern tech twist and with the shenanigan’s going on in Sam’s business, his private life, and Poppy’s upcoming wedding to Magnus. I wish there had been more romance but loved the HEA.
Sophie Kinsella is one of my favorite authors and this book is absolutely terrific!! You’ve got to love the characters, the book moves at a fast pace, and you can’t help by root for Poppy. I highly recommend this wonderful book. Keep them coming Sophie!!
Hilarious and thoroughly enjoyable in both audio and via paperback version, this one by Kinsella is a delight. When I want to take a stroll and have a happy break from the world, I find myself turning on I’ve Got Your Number over and over again :).
This was a fun read.
I read this quite awhile ago but listened to the audio this time. The narrator is fantastic. She embodies Poppy so well.
And, oh, silly Poppy. Her finders-keepers mind-set is awkward and funny and entertaining. According to Sam, she’s feisty on the outside, insecure on the inside. I completely relate!
Sam is brusque and a Darcy-type hero. He seems completely annoyed by Poppy’s antics. I just love so much to read about his sly soft moments through a quirk of a smile or his nonchalant texts.
I forgot how much I love Sophie Kinsella. I need to read more of her books on a regular basis.
This book ranks among my ALL TIME BESTS list!!! This MUST be read, at least for the passages in the jewelry store if nothing else. Truly laugh-out-loud.
Out of all the Sophie Kinsella books I’ve read, this was one that made me cry so hard (both from laughing and being hit in the feels), why? Well, I guess you have to read it yourself.
Sophie Kinsella is a genius with humor. I was laughing out loud during so many moment in this book!
I LOVE any book by Kinsella and this is by far my favorite! I laughed out loud, swooned, loved the footnotes. It was perfect. All the drama and wanting to hate the ending but everything was perfect.
This piece of chick-lit is laugh out loud funny, and such a fun read. If you’re in the mood for something lighthearted, romantic, and empty of BDSM outrageousness, then this is definitely something you’ll enjoy.
Poppy Wyatt is engaged to be married, but after losing her priceless engagement ring, as well as her precious cell phone, she quickly realizes that desperate times call for desperate measures. This includes “borrowing” a cell phone she just happens to find in the trash of a hotel lobby. After all, how will anybody be able to contact her if her ring does magically show up?
Well, it turns out the phone belonged to the personal assistant of tough-as-nails businessman Sam Roxton, and he wants his phone back. What follows is a hilarious back and forth between a stern man and a cheerful young woman; two opposites who become drawn together through text messages, e-mails, and even a few personal close encounters.
Because this novel belongs in the chick-lit genre, there isn’t a whole lot of smut. No hanky panky, and we are rewarded in the end with a passionate kiss rather than a roll in the sack. But this novel is so damn funny, you won’t really mind, and the chemistry between these two is spot on. Poppy is hilarious in trying to make Sam less of an ass, and takes it upon herself to respond to some of his work e-mails from the phone she happens upon. One of these includes sending a heartfelt poem to one of his employees whose pet recently passed away. I laughed so hard I almost had tears in my eyes! You might want to consider reading this one at home, unless you don’t mind looking like a laughing idiot in public. I leave it up to you.
Although Sam can’t stand Poppy at first, and Poppy is convinced that her fiancé is the perfect man, these two start to develop a chemistry, and start to question if the animosity they once felt for each other is becoming something more endearing. Towards the end of the novel I must admit that Poppy started to get on my nerves a bit, especially when she finds out that her fiancé has been a bit of a dick, but still decides to marry him anyway. And hello, you’ve got a hot businessman who will be sure to comfort you through your times of woe. However, the ending more than makes up for it, especially when Sam acts out in a moment of desperation to try and prevent Poppy from going through with her wedding. So freakin’ cute I just can’t stand it.
Kinsella always makes me laugh!
