This story was completely different then the others. I was shocked with every page turn, I couldn’t believe what I was reading and then bam it changed on me again. Kane has a more emotional side to him and one that is ready to break free. Ruby ahhh a breath of fresh air something that was much needed for Kane and Sierra to really see what was happening. Kane and Sierra are an amazing couple together but you can tell by the way the story is told that they are holding each other back. Now Kane and Ruby are an on fire couple that, you touch and its like flames are coming off them. They complement each other and bring the best out. Lisa did an outstanding job with the story do I agree with how it ended no But I know Lisa has something amazing up she sleeves. The words that flowed from this story really grabbed me and took hold for some reason I was in love with this one more then I was the other ones. I think it was I wanted a happy ending on every page and not knowing what the end would bring just made me read it more. I was in love with this story by the end and craved more and more. Lisa blew my mind once again with her amazing writting.
Not your typical romance novel!
This is the story of even keeled, do right Kane Keller, bass guitarist with MFB, told from his POV. It’s the next in Lisa Suzanne’s rock star series but can easily be read as a standalone.
Did you ever wonder if doing the right thing is the right thing for you? Is it fair to make a commitment to a life or a person you’re not truly committed to? Should you have to give up what you want for who you want?
Love triangle, forbidden attraction, deception, indecision, passion and self discovery are the cornerstones of this story…and not everybody’s going to be happy with this happy ending.
Personally, I loved the real and raw struggle as Kane wrestles with his feelings, trying to decide if playing it safe means playing for keeps, if playing for MFB is the key to his happiness and if there’s a diamond or a Ruby in his future.
Loved being back with MFB and some of the Vail group. I understand where Kane was coming from, to an extent. He felt stuck, lost, confused but when he starts going back and forth with Sierra, I felt sorry for her. He should have stopped stringing her along, but then again, she should stop trying to get him to change. I found the story of Kane and Sierra irritating. I found the story of Kane and Ruby Ray infuriating at least at first; he gave up his whole life and career for her, but then I could see it. Sometimes the person you are with is not your forever. That was definitely the case here.
This book is Kane’s story in the MFB book series but it can be read as a stand alone. It is written in first person entirely from Kane’s POV. This book does have a love triangle, and I am not fond those, but I read it anyway because I liked Kane in the previous MFB books. At 50% I almost put this in the DNF shelf. None of these characters are very likable. Sierra and Ruby are both manipulative. Kane is easily manipulated by both of them which made him feel very weak. He is also indecisive, ping-ponging between both women, and it was honestly tough to keep liking him at all. Though I never felt like Sierra was good for Kane, even in previous books, I was not convinced that Ruby was good for him either. Kane finally makes some decisions, and seems happy with his choices at the end of the book, so I guess that is something. The last two MFB books had a fair amount of humor mixed with a little angst. That is not this book at all. It is a lot of angst that wraps up in a HEA that feels too fast and easy. And not everyone is happy about the ending. Overall, it is very well- written but this was not my favorite.
I have to admit that this book did not start out as my favorite MFB book as you only see the positives in Kane’s and Sierra’s relationship leading into this book. Kane is the bassist for MFB and while the band is on hiatus, he and Rascal take on a short gig with an up and coming singer, Ruby Ray. Admittedly, Ruby and Kane have a very electric relationship that really jumps off the pages in Lisa’s writing.
Kane and Sierra have been together for 7 years so to see the demise of their relationship is sad. You can tell that there is love there but they are at a crossroads of wanting different things out of their relationship and she calls his bluff on the night of a bachelor auction that he gets roped into. Ruby ends up winning Kane in the auction and decisions are made that have huge impacts.
I was happy with the ending of the story. Not every couple works out the way you think they should and not every relationship is meant to last forever. The MFB team is complete!
I love all books by Lisa Suzanne. At first I wasn’t sure about this one because I loved Kane with Sierra and I could tell it was going in a direction I wasn’t going to like. After continuing on and seeing and feeling the connection between Kane and Ruby I was struggling with how I felt. As always Lisa connects the dots and I really enjoyed the ending.
For those of us who have followed MFB, the long awaited story for Kane is here. Haven’t read the series? No worries, you can follow them in any order, but there is not one story you will not fall into and feel the emotions of each character. Kane and his long-time girlfriend, Sierra want different things in their relationship. Do you do what makes her happy or do you follow your heart?
While juggling his relationship issue he is going on tour with Ruby Ray while MFB is on hiatus. Chemistry is felt between these two, but he has never looked or strayed on his girlfriend. Circumstances bring them together outside of the tour and they realize they have a lot in common. Secrets come out and boy if you thought your emotions were on a tight-rope, just wait till you find out what it is.
Interesting how it is portrayed and in the end it works for what is right for Kane. Shocked a little, but agree with it except the music one. You shall see what that is! If you enjoy reading rock bands, read this book and series is for you. It’s Only Temporary or is it? Lips are sealed, read and find out!
Rate: 2.5/ 5 stars
I’m gonna try to keep this one short because I don’t want to trash someone’s sweat and tears. Be aware there might be some minor spoilers in the midst of my rant.
This book was not for me. I hated the direction Lisa took these characters. She ruined a relationship I had come to like and she butchered it real good, and in doing so she she did it to Kane too (in my eyes). Yeah, he was unfuriating. I hated being inside his head and watching him do stupid things and making crazy decisions. Maybe if there had been female povs, I would have felt more simpathy for certain characters but no, from a certain point in the book I just couldn’t. I just really did not like the direction things went, what happened along the way… I felt it from the very beginning of the book. And gosh looking back, I really wish I had just DNF but I powered through hoping for an outcome that was just never there. And it made me sad, mad and at times disgusted. And again guys, these are all my feelings towards what happened plot wise, not that there’s anything “bad” happening in the book, well besides the cheating. But I’ve come to learn not to let the cheating get to me when it comes to these love triangles, but in this one it just added fuel to the fire and made me hate the direction of the book even more. AND more! I thought things couldn’t get worse, but they did! And I’m even more pissed and sad. I fucking cried omg. I feel like with this book, Lisa ruined the whole ‘book series’ surrounding this band and I’m not even sure if I’ll read the future books in it. I’m that pissed and disappointed with the direction things went.
That said… this is just how I felt towards the plot. The book is not bad, the writing is good just like in any other Lisa Suzanne book. There is plenty of gutwrenching angst in this one. If you love those kind of love triangles, give it a chance! Who knows? You just might love it. Just because I didn’t, doesn’t mean you won’t. I just hated the direction things went.
It’s Only Temporary was my least favorite story of LS to date. It makes me sad, beacause I really liked Kane in the previous ones. I really thought about not finishing this story, but I kept going hoping my feeling would change. Out of all the MFB guys I thought Kane was the one who had it all together, and boy was I wrong. It was like he couldn’t make any final decision, and the worst one was Ruby. I didn’t really like her with Kane, I can’t pinpoint what it is that makes me feel this way. I did like that the MFB guys/gals are in the story.
I loved Kane’s story. He always went with what he knew instead of what he felt. He thinks things with Ruby are only temporary until he has to make some hard choices.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
MFB is back and this time it’s Kane’s turn! But he is so much more than you ever thought he could be. I love me a good love triangle, but somehow, this one fell a little short when it came to the triangle.
I love Lisa’s writing but I didn’t feel the same connection to this book that I did to the other members of the band. It might be because it was only done from Kane’s perspective so I felt like I was missing half of the story. Kane is an amazing man, but I just didn’t get the connection to him that I was craving or wanting.
That being said, his love story is one for the record books. You don’t know what’s coming and you don’t even realize it until it hits. The twists and turns, ups and downs, kept me captivated in the story. And although I wasn’t as connected to this one as I was the other ones, I still found myself unable to put it down. I needed to know how it all played out.
If you love MFB, I know you will fall for Kane. I cannot wait to see where Lisa takes the band next!
Four stars for this fun rockstar love triangle that will have you wondering just which way the man is heading.
Kane and Ruby’s story is filled with struggles, forbidden attraction, and the perfect amount of angst. Kane is working with up and coming artist Ruby during a break with his band. His long term girlfriend is pushing him for a commitment that he’s not sure he is ready to make. His feelings toward Ruby grow the more they are together and the attraction between them is undeniable. I absolutely loved their story and the evolution of their relation. Only Lisa can bring a story like this to life! I received an advanced readers copy of this book and absolutely loved it.
Lisa Suzanne is Queen of Rock Star romances and I have loved each and every one of her books. Her characters feel like people you would want for your best friends and they all have their struggles with real world problems and challenges.
This book features Kane, the bassist for the successful band MFB. Kane is logical and thinks through issues before he makes a decision. In this story he struggles with conflicting goals—his girlfriend of seven years, Sierra, wants marriage, kids and the Victorian house with a wrap around porch, and though he loves her, marriage is not what he wants. When he is roped into participating in a fund raiser Bachelor Auction, Sierra gives him an ultimatum. Enter Ruby Ray, a gorgeous singer who bids on Kane and you have a love triangle with a tough decision for Kane. This is a wonderful must read story! I read an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.
Kane is the bassist for mega group MFB and he is given the opportunity to temporarily play with up and coming singer Ruby Ray. This is a much needed break since he notices the personal dynamic of the MFB change. Members of the band are getting getting engaged, married, or having kids. He has a long term girlfriend and the idea of getting married and having kids is something that he is unsure about. Ruby Ray is vivacious on stage but yet she is anything but off and a secret from her past comes to light and affects the decisions that she makes. The attraction between Kane and Ruby is undeniable both professionally and personally. Their personal attraction allows them to work the stage together as if they have been playing in the same band for years. This book was a great way to end this bands series.
Is Temporary even really just temporary.
Confliction, Guilt, Attraction – these words best describe this book. Kane Keller is at a crossroads in his life. His girlfriend of seven years is ready for the next chapter in their relationship but Kane is having second thoughts.
This book was a little different than any other book that I have read by Lisa but like all of her books, I was addicted to the characters and storyline.
I can’t wait to see what is next for MFB and this temporary band.
Kane Keller is the most discreet character in the MFB band, the one we didn’t know much about. But when all of his friends are getting married, or having children, he realizes that this isn’t exactly what he wants for his life right now. However, his girlfriend, Sierra, is always saying that her dream is to get married, have children and a Victorian house in San Diego.
When Kane goes to work as a temporary bassist in the Ruby Ray band, he immediately feels an attraction to her, but as he’s committed to Sierra, he leaves that aside.
And when he goes to participate in a Bachelor auction and Sierra issues an ultimatum to him, they end the relationship. And Ruby wins the auction and they spend a wonderful night together, getting to know each other better.
But Sierra is not willing to let their long-term relationship end like this and they end up coming back and trying to make the relationship work. However, as time goes by, Kane realizes that he must also make some changes thinking about what he wants, not others.
And when everything seemed to have settled, a secret can shake everything he believed so far.
This story is one of the best I’ve read with the members of MFB, as it shows the personal growth of Kane and Ruby throughout it. I loved the story and the characters. I highly recommend the reading.
I was very torn on this one because these characters were on my last nerve by 50%. I pushed through, and I’m glad I did, but this is probably my least favorite in the series which bums me out because Kane has been one of my favorite dudes throughout the series.
I’m still not Ruby’s biggest fan. She very purposefully is saying and doing things to get Kane to cheat / break up with Sierra and then claims she’d feel guilty if she was the reason they broke up. Like what? I wanted happiness for Kane because he deserves it but the timeline here had me very frustrated.
Overall this is a high tension, emotionally loaded love story and most will enjoy it. The execution left me a bit underwhelmed and very frustrated but it’s a good addition to this series.
Lisa Suzanne has been writing some really amazing stories for the band members in this series as they find love in their travels down the road of fame and fortune. Wild, funny and exciting for sure as I’ve laughed soooo hard, cried a few buckets all while falling hard for each of these gorgeous guys and their sassy ladies.
Have you been riding along with the guys from MFB? This author has a way with these rockstars and longtime friends that makes you feel like you’ve actually hopped on the tour bus, sat in on a practice or maybe caught an episode of their very revealing reality show!
While life is moving on personally for the rest of his bandmates, Kane Keller has been unwillingly placed on the hot seat, avoiding long time girlfriend Sierra’s burning questions about where their relationship is heading after all these years. She is NOT happy, wants a ring on that finger but Kane isn’t quite sure he sees himself in the future she’s craving. Sierra nearly goes off the rails when he gets roped into in a bachelor’s auction, thanks to his label, which might be the straw that broke the old camels back! What a wickedly crazy way to start out Kane’s tale..with a bang!
I was definitely curoius about the last man standing- Kane, and couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book for a closer peek into his private world. He’s a quiet, down to earth guy who is happy to stay in the background and let someone else stand in the spotlight. BUT- there is just something sweet and irresistible about this sexy bassist, who is so thoughtful, smart, a little bit humble but stuck so far down in the same old rut he’s practically disappearing.
During a break in MFB’s schedule, Kane and Will, aka, Rascal (omg, his story was hysterical) are on loan, playing and touring with their labels newest up and coming artist, Ruby Ray. Being in a new band that’s starting from the ground floor, even temporarily, is fun and exciting, different in a really good way and Kane is loving the challenge.
Ruby is attracted to Kane, can’t turn it off but knows he’s very much taken. She’s an independent woman with a voice like a vampy, sexy angel and is determined to rise as high as she can while making the music she loves. Kane questions his life choices whenever she’s near, which is all the time, but is tormented by these forbidden feelings. He can barely keeps his eyes to himself, it’s getting to be…a problem!
As you might guess, there is never a dull moment in a Lisa Suzanne story and thank goodness for that! I love how she wove those big fat emotions through the story and put them all on the line for the reader who experiences them right along with her characters. I could feel the tension swirling the air, the push and pull, whether it was Sierra’s frustration, Kane’s denial or Ruby’s hopes and fears. Lisa knows just where to throw in some delicious angst and boy, does she do it so well every time. There are raw, heartwrenching struggles and emotions flying high in Kane’s story, in more ways than the obvious ones. There is a certain feeling running through this story and much to discover, but I knew what I wanted to happen and was holding my breathe to see how it would all work out..or not! Most of all, I was cheering for Kane to break loose and put himself first.
I can’t say enough about My Favorite Band and its loveable cast of characters, each one fascinating in their own special way. I hope there are more books in this world to come, because I would feel a bit lost without my MFB guys to keep me entertained! Make it your mission to either continue on in this series with It’s Only Temporary or just start at the very beginning and keep on going! Can you say BINGE???
I received a complimentary copy of this book and these are my own opinions and thoughts after reading it.
4.5 “Unexpected” Stars
Kane, the logical one of the MFB boys shows us a new and unforeseen side. There is plenty of angst to go around and some big changes….
This one had surprises I never expected but I really liked even if the outcome was not what I thought it would be ~ it actually turned out for the better.
I’ve been so intrigued and ready to meet Kane for a while and I loved his story!!! Lisa Suzanne’s rock star romances never disappoint me!
If you haven’t yet met the MFB boys, you can definitely read this as a standalone. Kane is in a transition phase of his life, everything in his life at this moment seems temporary.
Kane has kind of been in the background of the other MFB books. He’s been in a steady relationship for the longest time as every other member of MFB finds love. However, he’s been feeling stagnant in his life and his relationship.
I don’t want to be too spoiler cause I definitely think you need to go in blind. This book is very much about Kane. We get to see his relationship with Sierra and with Ruby but all from his POV. That definitely kept me on the edge of my seat and wondering what was going to happen in the end.
Kane has been dating Sierra for seven years and he starts to realize they’re not on the same path, they don’t want the same things. Meanwhile, he’s also playing for a new band and developing an attraction with the lead singer. At the bachelor auction he develops more of a bond with Ruby and realizes it’s not just physical. He’s been kind of just going along with what’s expected of him but, after this he has to really figure out what he wants out of life and his relationships. He has to really stop and figure out his life and has to make some really difficult decisions along the way.
I was on the edge of my seat probably the entire time. I just wasn’t sure what was going to happen next at all. The end left me kind of sad, but also so hopeful. Hopeful for Kane, because he truly seems to have found his happiness. Also, hopeful for the future of MFB. I cannot wait to see where Lisa takes us next!!
