I really enjoyed it! Couldn’t put it down once I started.
“Even if we never see each other again, it will never be over. Never.”
I don’t know if it was me or the book, maybe both — but, I was emotional reading this. The love and the angst between Vivian and Daniel was raw and real. Vivian was a breath of fresh air. She was madly in love with Daniel, but she was her own person. She never questioned what she deserved and she fought for everything that mattered to her.
“A woman worth spending time with doesn’t fall at your feet right away. She demands attention but doesn’t need it. Makes you earn her respect and in turn earns yours.”
Vivian was not the type of woman that Daniel had spent time with in the past, but he couldn’t stay away. And although she demanded more than what he had intended to give, he found himself wanting to be what she wanted and he found himself giving it to her.
This book was really special and unique to me. Daniel and Vivian’s love was well-developed and one of respect and equality. There was plenty of heat between them, but also the loving intimacy of being each other’s supporters and life partners. I physically felt Vivian’s pain and confusion when Daniel decided to throw it — throw her — away after eight years with hardly an excuse.
This was a beautifully written story with fleshed out characters and a story with more to be told. I couldn’t put this one down.
First of all, this book is a MUST READ for people who love to read about a couple so in love with each other that they become one: one heart, one soul, and make you wonder from the beginning, if this kind of love is possible or if you will be able to have it one day.
Normally, there are lots of books which say that the main female character is sassy and I agreed with them after reading it. Well, I was wrong. Sassy is Vivian and Vivian is sassy. I was amazed with her and inspired at the same time. She teaches us to stand by our values and to never set for less than that, no matter how much we want someone. Therefore, that is how true love begins, when what we give to the other is everything and receive the same in return. By the end of this book, this word means a lot more to me that it’s real meaning: it means Vivian and Daniel and what I learnt with them.
Be aware of a lot of mystery, one that I didn’t know I would like so much because it kept me turning page after page.
Be aware of family not defined by blood, but by kindness, protectiveness and love so unconditional that it will make you cry.
Be aware of true love, one that I only find once in a while, although I am always reading books, because this kind of love can only be created and told by great minds that belong to very romantic authors.
I owe you Grahame Claire, for giving me the pleasure of reading such a wonderful story!
The path to love is definitely a rocky one for Daniel and Vivian. The only thing that I wasn’t real crazy about in reading this book is the fact that it goes back and forth between the present and eight years ago. In the present, Daniel tells Vivian that their relationship is over and that she has to move out of the apartment that they have shared for eight years. Vivian asks for one week and says that she wants nothing to do with all the things that Daniel gave her and she seeks comfort with their friend Muriella. Boy, can those two ladies cook up some mischief. Daniel then recalls just what events occurred in his past to set all that is happening in the present in motion. We catch glimpses of his poor excuse of a father, his substitute father figure, his entrance into the mob and how he plans to let go of his mob relations. Vivian only cares about the fact that she loves Daniel with all her being and has for eight years and she knows that he loves her and she just has to figure out why he is dumping her now. This book will definitely take you on an emotional ride and you will have to read to the end to see if you think the journey was worth it. Since the book is free right now, you don’t have much to lose in reading this first in series and who knows you might just find a new series to love. I did!
Wow! This is my first time to read one of Grahame Claire’s books, but it won’t be the last. I loved the depth of Vivian and Daniel’s characters in this book, and can’t wait to read the next book to see where Stone and Muriella’s story goes. This book often surprised me, and kept me guessing from current day back to 8 years ago while the story unfolded. It’s definitely a must read…and a great start to a series!
Enjoyed the book more than I thought I would
I really thought the story was good but it went on for too long. People involved with the mob are pretty stupid. Plus I don’t like stories where we are in the present for awhile and then we go 8 years back, then back to the present and then 5 years back, etc. Love did win out though.
Excellent read, couldn’t put it down, well written.
Loved the story and characters. Vivian is strong , sweet and a romantic that will bring out the best of our main character Daniel. He is intense, complicated and will sacrifice himself for Vivian in the most selfless way you can ask. A great story that is sometimes a little dark but the light that Vivian brings to the story makes this a refreshing read.
It was great read. Very enjoyable and entertaining.
Romance with some angst, twists and turns before we got to HEA.
Interesting storyline and great characters.
Definitely recommended.
My first Grahame Claire book was Free Me so I actually met Daniel and Vivian as their future selves first. I had always intended on going back and reading the Paths to Love series, so when it came up for sale on Amazon I one-clicked on it.
I already knew I liked Daniel and Vivian from having glimpsed them so it was interesting to learn their back stories.
However, I found it really hard to stay focused with all the flipping back and forth with the flashbacks and it caused me to be easily distracted from the book (not the norm for me). This was especially hard because it wasn’t just flipping back to a certain event and revealing bits and pieces of that event, but it was flipping back to moments in time that were at sporadic intervals, ie. 8 years ago or 25 years ago. I would have preferred to have the sections that were 8 years ago in one part of the book and the present in the next part of the book, instead of swapping every chapter.
In the end, I finished the book and was happy with their story. Was it my favourite? No, but I do know who Daniel and Vivian become and I’m glad I know their story. I’ll have to keep reading the series because I’m intrigued by the bits of Stone and Muriella that were revealed.
What a chest squeezing, heart breaking, angst packing romance Its Not Over is…I thought I was having a heart attack my chest hurt so bad and had to walk away a couple of times to get my breath back. Whew, I’ve never been a big fan of mafia style books but this one was AWESOME and had all of the feels!! I volunteered an honest opinion for this book
This book has a great amount of mystery, with an undeniable love mixed in.
Vivian is a hardworking accountant who takes pride in helping others. Daniel is a borderline criminal who, until meeting V had a heart of steal.
The past has come back to haunt him, and he will do whatever it takes to protect V.
I’m almost positive I read this before, but was happy to read it again. I really enjoyed this story.
There’s just something about mixing a bit of the mafia with a love story then add some suspense to it that makes for a winning story. Such is the case for It’s Not Over. I knew at the first page that I wouldn’t go to sleep until I reached the last. And when I read that last page, I wanted more. This story is riveting, heartbreaking and yet in the end, so satisfying. I loved the characters. Daniel and Vivian were made for each other, although Daniel should have known that his woman would not sit idly by and do nothing. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. And yes, I will definitely be recommending It’s Not Over to my book worm friends.
I’m deeply mesmerized!
This was such a fantastic read. I was hooked from page one and I just couldn’t not read it. The story was poignant, enthralling and addicting.
Honestly one of the best books I’ve read.
I don’t even know if I can explain properly, because I feel no matter how many words I say, it won’t be enough. But it’s like this book had the power to change me somehow, maybe change my life in a way.
The characters were deep, complex and had so many layers. Daniel strict, stoic, even cold and calculist sometimes, but he was vulnerable and taken for the women he loved. He was like a powerful king, he was his own army, he thought about the smallest of steps, he knew the rules to the game like no one else, but he also knew that his women dealt the cards. Specially his Vivian.
And Oh. My. God. I have such a big girl crush on her! Seriously, I don’t remember loving a heroine that much! There was no need to be said to us that she was independent. Her actions did, and that says a lot. I mean, more often than not, we see authors telling that the heroine is this, and the hero is that, but that wasn’t needed in this book.
I didn’t need to be told about her strong personality, her independence, her resilience and how valuable she was. She showed us that.
She knew her value, she knew her standards, and she put her foot down on it, never backing down and compromising her values, bot also never being arrogant about it.
She knew what she wanted, she knew what she deserved, she drew the line of what she expected because she knew she deserved nothing less! And it was so powerful to watch. Seriously, I’m in love with her!
And when Daniel realized what I just told, he became addicted as well, I mean, how could he not? But he was also his own kind of wonderful. He loved like no one else, she accepted him all. He was selfless, and she gave herself to him. He was broken, but she didn’t want perfect, she wanted his everything, flaws, baggage and all. He was vulnerable in his power, she was powerful either in her vulnerability and her powerfulness.
He was willing to sacrifice himself for her, she was adamant about fighting for them both.
They were a team even when she didn’t know what game they were playing.
And in all the mess they found theirselves in, there were other people, either causing the chaos or aliviating it, and I couldn’t not say about them. I’m trying so hard not to spoil right now, but the secondary characters were so fundamental, so compelling, I loved and despised them almost as much as I adored Daniel and Vivian.
All the relationships (romantic or not) was precisely built and oh so strong.
The plot flowed naturally and entrancingly. So many things happened and glued me to the book, and every word, every expression, every encounter was right written, none of it was idly shown. Every single occurance had its own importance.
There still some answered questions that I can’t wait to find the answers to in the next book.
I wish I had so many more stars to give this book. But I gotta say, this duo of authors set the bar high with this book.
It was very involved and took a bit to get into what was going on, but I did end up enjoying it a lot! Thanks
This book had me hooked from the beginning. I loved how it was told in present and past tense and the past events seemed to explain or be related to what was happening in the present. It gave insight into Daniel’s behaviour and the relationship he had with Vivian and other people in his life. The banter, dialogue and chemistry between characters was raw and authentic. This was an excellent read and I highly recommend it!
I just loved this book. It was so well-written that it captured my mind and I was dragged along for the ride. Once I started reading I could not put it down until I read the last page.
“I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.”
