SO good!
WOW! The twist and turns in this book, It’s Not Over by Grahame really keep you engrossed in the book. I was not able to put the book down until I finished it. Daniel is just a sweet, caring, protective, fierceful and sexy, and such a mixed up guy. He had me falling for him instantly. You can’t help but love and hate him at the same time for what he does. His sacrifice almost costs him everyting he dearly cared about. I absolutely loved the determination, tenacity, relentlessness, fierlessness and dedication Vivianne had. She is such a strong person who won’t give up and is can’t accept what Daniel declaires, she will face danger head on and stand her ground. I loved the passion and irresistible attraction they have for each other. The suspence of what Daniel was hiding had me turning pages. This book is full of suspense, drama, danger, secrets, determination, friendship, family, loyaty, intrigue, mysterious, love and betrayal. I absolutely loved it. I received an ARC of this amazing book. I would give it more than a five star if I could. It will definitely real you in and keep you hooked til the end.
He can’t escape from his past which comes to do damage to him and the ones he loves.
5+ Stars. This book had me wrapped around its pages. Could not put down. So very well written, the descriptions of the characters done so well that you get into the story and feel their feelings.
Daniel and Vivian are the main characters. The story goes between 8 years of past and present for them to follow the relationship. Her upbringing was not a happy one. A super controlling father that threw her away when she decided to follow her dreams and not do what he wanted.
The mother followed the father and always had an alcoholic drink in her hand. It’s good that Vivian realized she wanted to get out of those surroundings and follow a life that she wanted for herself. She made plans in school and followed through. Received an internship at one of the most prestigious accounting firms in New York. Through her firm she fell in love with Paths of Purpose a shelter for abused women and children. Hamerstein and Associated always held a charity fund raiser for the shelter. Vivian attended it. That is where she and Daniel first met.
Now Daniel’s life was a hard one. His father was one of the worst. He pretty much killed Daniel’s mother when he was young. His mother always had protected him from his father. After she was gone, he had no one and his father did the unmentionable. He sold Daniel to a mobster. But Daniel had a good head on his shoulders and knew he had to carve a path for his life. And he meets Donato Salvatore, so much happens with those two but Donato comes to be like a savior to Daniel. Daniel later feels that he has to do the ultimate to repay all that Donato did for him.
Quite a few years ago, around 10 years, Daniel saved Muriella who he has kept safe all these years in an apartment below his. She’s like his family and she loves him as a brother, savior and friend.
But their relationship suffers when Daniel’s past comes to play and he has to end everything with Vivian. Even though Vivian is his life raft, angel and everything good that he is, he has to let her go to keep her safe.
This book makes you smile, makes you yell, brings tears to your eyes, feel the heartbreak tragedy of a broken love mistakenly made, and so much more.
It is one of my most favorite books. I am so so glad I ran across the preview first which had me hunting for the whole story which I bought once I found it. I will read this story again and can’t wait for Three Dates which I believe will feature Muriella and her love interest Stone, a go get ’em cowboy from Texas who won’t have it easy winning Muriella over.
I highly recommend this book by Grahame Claire.
Great story. Confusing though, because of jumping from the past to the present with two character.
What a captivating debut novel by Grahame Claire! I kind of stumbled upon this book on Amazon and the blurb grabbed me immediately. Needless to say, as soon as I started reading it I couldn’t put it down! This is a page-turner with lots of twists and turns told in dual POV’S which I love. I think what drew me into this story was how it was written — very unique in that you don’t immediately get all the background story right away — it’s given to you in bits and pieces which is a great way to grab you and get you invested in the storyline! I loved all the characters and the explosive chemistry between Daniel and Vivian. I’m really looking forward to Stone and Muriella’s story–I’m thinking it’ll be quite fascinating and steamy as well! And don’t forget to subscribe to get the bonus scene at the end of the book-so sexy! Excellent romantic suspense–drama, angst, thrilling, bittersweet and seriously sexy!
When I started this book, I didn’t know if I was going to like it or not. It’s different from the others I’ve read but I think that’s what makes this book really good. It keeps you at the edge of your seat wondering what’s going to happen next. With Daniel and Vivien? Nothing is as it seems. But their love story is definitely worth fighting for. I hope the next book in this series is Muriella’s love story.
This story hooked me right from the start. I really wasn’t sure what to expect from reading the synopsis which made this story even better. The book starts in the present and moves back and forth between the present and 8 years ago. It is written in both perspectives and although it is angsty at times it was well worth the read! I read it all in one sitting unable to put it down. I am looking forward to the next in the series!
I was gifted an ARC in return of an honest review.
When Vivian’s love breaks up with her out of the blue, it sets off a shockwave of events within both their lives.
It’s Not Over starts off with a bang. Vivian comes home to the man she’s been in love with for 8 years to find her stuff packed up and a cold, indifferent man (how is this her Daniel?) telling her it’s over and that she needs to move out. From there, the story weaves in and out of the past and the present, showing us how the two fell in love, and bringing us to the current time where he’s breaking up with her without explanation.
I love that Vivian did not go quietly. No, she fought for her man. She fought for their love. She was the perfect heroine – smart, tough, and resilient. Colleagues of this author should take heed of this heroine, because she’s the kind of heroine all romance (and other types) authors should be writing. I admit that I had major problems with Daniel at first, though. He was so cold and stoic, breaking Vivian’s heart ruthlessly. But, it didn’t take too long before his brutal past was exposed, showing his true inner self and why he felt he had to usher Vivian out of his life. Of course he wasn’t really an asshole, his past had just caught up with him, and he saw no other way to rid himself of it.
It’s Not Over is a stellar debut by a new author. It’s insanely addicting to read. It’s edgy and suspenseful and reveals its layers just slowly enough to drive you mad, always dying to know what the hell was going on with Vivian and Daniel. I am so looking forward to more from this author!
This was a really good read. I was stuck to my kindle wanting to know what Daniel was hiding. You definitely know he’s trouble and he’s in trouble but not sure from what. I really love the supporting characters and can’t want for Stone and Murielle’s book.
This was a very engrossing read. The story starts out with a shock- Daniel Elliot is calling off his long time relationship with Vivian McGraw after eight years. He is not saying why, tells her it is for the best, makes accommodations for her financially and housing wise and thinks his telling her was one of the most difficult things he has ever done….
He needs to get a clue because Vivian listens to the cold words, takes it all in and tells him No, It isn’t over.
This is a story which gives both POV’s and alternates between the present break up and the past where their relationship began. We get to see these people as they are today and who they were before they fell in love. We see what Vivian is fighting for and we feel not only her pain but also Daniel’s in his thinking this is necessary to protect her.
We also see the real family they are with Muriella, a woman who is like a sister to Daniel and Vivian. She is the anchor and tries to help Daniel see the mistake he is making.
Daniel has his reasons and even though it may seem in his head correct, we all know there has to be another way, for these two belong together. This is not just a love story, it has a huge dose of suspense with some really cool twists and turns. During the entire time I was reading, I never was bored.
This author is new and already has the follow up book coming and I hope, fingers crossed, it is Muriella’s love story…I have a feeling that cowboy who has been biding his time for her isn’t going to wait much longer…
A wonderfully well written contemporary romance that is also a second chance romance with passion, beautiful friendship & love. I was a little confused at first and struggled, you think a new writer yuk. But WAIT get past the first chapter and you will be so sucked in you will not believe your addiction turning page after page. It is so worth it, my only dissapointment was their weren’t other book by this author to read. I was on the edge of my seat hooked not stopping till every page was turned. It had humor, it was suspenseful, mysterious, heartbreaking, sweet and angsty. It starts in the present 8 years into their relationship but jumps back and forth between present and past showing how Daniel and Vivian fell in love. Daniel can be withdrawn and cold but he also protective, sweet, loyal, smart, and sexy. Vivian strong, independent, sweet, caring, down to earth and a fighter with a bit of sass. It is told from Vivian and Daniel’s POVs and is about fighting for the ones you love harder than you fight for yourself. The story has a bit of a mob vibe included that was intriguing and showed tension as a threat circles closer and closer making it only a matter of time before Daniel’s past finds him but he couldn’t deny his deep consuming love for Vivian. When his past catches upto him he feels the only way to protect Vivian is he must end their relationship in a final and brutal way to ensure that she moves on and never wants to see him again. Vivian however is not about to go quietly and is willing to fight for her man pulling herself into danger trying to investigate his past that is full of danger, secrets, and mystery. A absolute must read. A definite favorite. I voluntarily reviewed this standalone ARC but hope that maybe more will come on the wonderful secondary characters. I highly recommend.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. Well written book with amazing characters, twists and turns keep you on the edge of your seat. Once I started reading this book I could not put it down. Great debut book by this new writing duo. I can’t wait read the next story.
4 “You’re My Everything” Stars!
Vivian DeGraw grew up in Texas, and then moved to New York where she works at the prestigious accounting firm Hamerstein and Associates. She also enjoys volunteering at a local shelter in her free time. With her job she is often surrounded by the wealthy, and one evening meets a gorgeous, mysterious man named Daniel Elliott. He’s persistent, and eventually she falls hard for him. They are together almost eight years, and then out of the blue the man she loves tells her it’s over. Two words turn her entire world upside down. The love of her life is suddenly treating her like a stranger. He’d completely blindsided her, and it made no sense. She knew there was always more to him that she didn’t know, but thought the less she knew about his business the better. It was clear he’d decided their fate, and was sticking to his decision, so Vivian decides it’s up to her to fight for them. She has no plans of letting him go.
Daniel has two women in his life that were more important to him than anything. One needed him as a friend, and the other owned his heart completely. Without one he never would have had the other. They were his family. The two people who showed him unconditional love, and who he would protect at all costs, and never put in harms way. He couldn’t escape the past, and lived a dangerous life full of enemies. For years he’d kept his two lives separate, and now his past and present were colliding. He always knew deep down that he’d never be able to hold on to Vivian, even though she was the best thing that ever happened to him. He didn’t do relationships before her, but now she was the sun in his sky, and had become his safe place. He wanted what was best for her, and felt she deserved more, so he blows their life together apart, and ends things. He’d long ago accepted the life he lived would one day take her away from him. Now he had to stay away from her, and be strong enough to let her go.
This was a fantastic debut novel by this new writing duo. It’s full of secrets, mystery, passion, and beautiful friendship & love. It has a mob vibe to it, and I really enjoyed how it goes from past to present. I loved the humor, and was intrigued by Daniel from the start. He’s super sexy & alpha. I also adored Vivian and how sassy and strong she is. I loved how she fights for her man, and won’t give up on their love. I can’t wait for Muriella & Stone’s story!
At first I wasn’t sure if I would like the going back n forth so close together between past and present, but it actually worked well. The playlist!! she had me at Cage the Elephant Trouble!! perfect song for the perfect situation. The bits and slight mentions of BDSM were good, wish their was more. I look forward to Muriella story. Vivian is my girl! Look forward to more of all these characters.
Grahame Claire – You’re right definetly “It’s not over” between us…
NO, no, and once again NO!!!
I still don’t believe that „It’s not over” is the one and only book writen by Grahame Claire!
When I started this book, I have no freaking idea that this story is FIRST Grahame Claire’s book…
I can only just say : WOW Girl, You’ve made my day.
For a long time I didn’t read such a good debiut book. I devorued this story in one night.
But starting form the beginning, why I liked this book?
Obviously I like it because this book it’s about love… But there are not only easy parts, THIS love can be rough and complicated sometimes.
Vivian and Daniel give me a lot of feelings.
Vivian is strong and proud, she knew exactly what she wants from life.
She definetly care about Daniel, but she also doesn’t affraid to give him some hard time.
Our Daniel… His a man full contradictions… There were moments when I couldn’t figured him out. He was sweet, loyal, and full of passsion but he could be also cold like arctic night… when he wants to fight about something he doesn’t give up.
Their stroy is amazing. You find there love, desire and compasion, with dark sectrets behind.
Graham Claire – please …could You write faster? I want Your books badly in my life 😉
WOW!! I was not sure my heart was going to survive this book! It was an amazing roller coaster that I did not want to end! This is my first story by Grahame Claire and I am addicted now! This is a very well written book with amazing characters! I am soooo in love with Daniel and Vivian! I cannot wait for Muriella’s story!! FIVE HUGE STARS!!
This book was so good I couldn’t put it down once I started! It is definitely a page-turner, keeping you guessing. Riveting plot and well written characters you grow attached to. Fabulous!
I absolutely LOVED this book! What a roller coaster of emotions I went through right along with Vivian and Daniel! I couldn’t put it down once I started reading. Great characters!
I haven’t read a romance over 200 pages in a long time! I’m so glad I read this one! It was steamy sexy, romantic, mysterious, and had me turning the pages and avoiding responsibilities so I could finish it! LOL! I am moving on to the next one. I’m glad I discovered this author team!
For a debut novel, this one came out smelling like cocoa butter. I hate the smell of roses.
This story had tons of what I look for in an amazing romance novel:
disgustingly gorgeous hero with a tortured soul. Give me the torment, baby!
an equally atrociously beautiful heroine with a big heart who gives as good as she gets. Never give up, Viv!
push and pull angst – bring on the feels!
sex (although I don’t recall there being a lot of it) If it ain’t hot, it ain’t gonna get bought! — oops, too late, I already one-clicked
Okay, so Daniel and Vivian have known each other and have been together for years. So why did Daniel all of a sudden drop her like a hot potato? It can’t be because his feelings have changed. It’s obvious to everyone how deeply he loves her. It can’t be because of something she did because this woman can do no wrong. So what’s the deal?
“You’re my reason for… everything.” – Daniel
Oh right, his past has come back to bite him and he has to protect his ‘little woman’ by keeping her in the dark. Yup, classic alpha hero mistake. But see Vivian isn’t going to go quietly into the good night. She loves her man. She needs her man. And she’ll never stop fighting for her man.
Amidst the shenanigans of the author thrusting us 8 years and then 25 years and then 1000 years (okay that last one is obviously a joke… or is it?) in the past, a story of deep and abiding love takes shape. I wasn’t a fan of the back and forth time jumps, but I’m guessing the author thought it was necessary to tell the story. I think?
I don’t know. I skimmed a lot during the quantum leaps. My bad. I just didn’t see why it couldn’t happen in a more organic way. Again, it’s a first book and aside from that, it left me smiling and I was happy with what I got.
