GwenLately, life definitely isn’t how I envisioned it. I had it all. The house, the job, the husband. Until one day, I didn’t. I don’t know when exactly things started to change between us, only that it did, and in a big way. So much so, I found myself standing before a judge and signing off on the end of my marriage. To the only man I’ve ever loved. Now, he’s back, fighting, and ready to prove … and ready to prove to me that we made a mistake, that our love is worth giving this another chance. I’m not sure if he’s right, but I know what my heart wants, and it wants him. My ex-husband.
Harrison
Why is it that you don’t know the depths of your mistakes until you’ve already made them? I knew signing those papers was a bad idea, but I thought that’s what she wanted. The minute we stepped foot out of that courtroom, it hit me. She’s no longer mine.
That’s when I also realized that I would do anything to change the past. I have so many regrets. Not her. I could never regret her, but how we ended. We never should have ended. I’m in for the battle of my life to convince her to give us another shot. I have a plan, one that will prove to her that it’s not over.

I first want to say that I love these authors both together and separately. It’s Not Over was a great read, the story flowed well and was well written. I loved Gwen and Harrison. There was no need to guess how these two felt about each other as they were both completely open with their feelings and weren’t afraid to go after what they wanted. When Harrison is faced with shocking news about his ex-wife he does everything he can to make things right and even though the fight is difficult at some points he doesn’t give up.
Overall this was a great read, the only reason I didn’t give it a five star was because I didn’t feel a connection to the characters, and even though it was clear these two really loved each other, I knew this from reading the words not so much the feeling. Even though I didn’t feel connected, the story was good and I would still recommend it to other reads as well as likely read it again.

I’m going to throw out some well deserved praise for Kaylee and Lacey for a simply wonderful second chance, surprise baby romance.
Harrison and Winnie are newly divorced but don’t want to be. They still are in love with each other but lost their way. A moment of weakness leads to a surprise pregnancy that they’d always wanted.
I especially like that Harrison had already decided to fight for Winnie, who he never stopped thinking of as his wife, before learning of the baby.
A wonderful romance with great characters. Bring on Chase and Gabby!
I have to start by saying that Kaylee Ryan and Lacey Black writing together was perfection! It flowed so well that you truly couldn’t tell who wrote what parts.
I only have one little niggle with this story and that’s with the heroine Winnie. She kind of annoyed me in the beginning and I found it hard to relate to her because let me tell you Harrison seems like the dream guy! Totally swoon worthy and I struggled as to why she’d want to divorce so easily.
I’m glad I persevered though because as the story progressed, so did my understanding for this couple and I actually ended up quite liking Winnie.
Aside from the very beginning I thoroughly enjoyed this read, especially the side characters. I really hope we see more from this fantastic duo of authors in the future.
Heartfelt and emotional second chance.
Seriously, this cover gave me all the feels, and the writing from these two authors did the same. While Kaylee Ryan is one of my absolute must read authors, Lacey Black is new to me, and I can tell you, they did a fantastic job together. This book was intensely romantic, hot, witty and very easy to read. I couldn’t put it down.
Not only are second chances one of my favourite tropes, but It’s Not Over is also told in my favourite dual POV, so, hearing the background to the divorce from both sides, was heart-breaking because they were still absolutely in love with each other. It was the usual story though, where one works hard to a build business and a future for both them and a much wished for family, but the relationship gets lost along the way. Harrison and Gwen were both beautiful people, open about their vulnerabilities and mistakes that had cost them dearly.
Gabby and Charles are wonderful secondary characters, and I loved Charles. He might not support the institution of marriage, or being tied to only one woman, and in spite of his ‘I told you so moment’, he was Harrison’s impetus and cheerleader when it came to winning Gwen back. That right there, is true friendship. I’m hoping that Kaylee and Lacey collaborate again, because I feel a need to be hearing more about this fiery couple! An enemies to Lovers perhaps?
For now though, I can guarantee to you that this is a great read. 4.5 Stars.
4.5 Stars
I really loved this one. It has so much emotion right from the start. My heart was breaking right along with Gwen and Harrison. You can tell how much they love each other they just lost their way. Fate has given them an opportunity for a second chance. Can they learn from before so they don’t become heartbroken once more? Harrison opens his eyes and sees how he gave up too easily when it comes to his Gwen. Watching him woo her once again is swoon worthy fr sure. Harrison has alpha tendencies that just add to his yummyness. There is also a lot of humor in this book that I just loved. This book had me hooked and I just couldn’t put it down. I knew going in that two of my favorite authors collaborating it was going to be a book that I would devour.
It’s Not Over is an emotional rollercoaster romance read. The chemistry between Harrison and Gwen is electric! Get ready for tears, fears, pain, passion, anger, angst, twists, and yes- love, forgiveness and love.
This a study in a relationship/marriage broken into pieces and we start off as the marriage is already on the edge/broken. The plot is fantastic, the feels hit the reader right in the sweet spot; there are moments where you want to cry right along with the main characters yet there are twists and turns that kept me locked in and reading. Ms. Ryan & Ms. Black wrote an emotionally charged romance that is full of feels, steam and second chances.
My Rating: 4.5 stars ********
I’ve been a fan of everything I’ve read by Lacey Black, so when this duo teamed up it was a given I’d love the story. I’m a sucker for second chance romance and Ms. Ryan and Ms. Black really deliver in It’s Not Over. The book has a lot going for it: great characters, a well-paced storyline, witty banter (especially between Harrison’s best friend and Gwen’s sister), a spot of suspense, and a lot of heart and passion.
Harrison is swoon worthy, just a little blinded by ambition to provide for his wife and their future. He lost focus of the most important thing in his life, Winnie, his wife. Without her there is no future. Feeling lost and alone, Gwen hopes that starting divorce proceedings will kick in Harrison’s urge to fight. Sadly these two are probably the most in love couple to ever divorce, and their post divorce interlude is HOT. Vowing to win back his wife (no matter her legal status as ex) Harrison decides to fight for the future he wants.
Fate provides an avenue for him to be front and center in Winnie’s life and through perseverance and romantic persuasion he gets the chance to woo back his wife. The man has so many romantic bones in his body, he should come with a warning label. Not only does he shoulder the blame for their break up, he seeks to prove to Gwen’s family he’s out to give her the proverbial HEA, despite a bit of intrigue trying to derail the couple.
I loved the emotional depth both of these authors give to their characters and the fun-loving banter between the couples in the book, not only Harrison and Winnie, but also Chase and Gabby. This story swings between sweet and romantic and sexy and steamy. The writers did an excellent job tossing roadblocks in the way of the couple but navigated them through their issues to a satisfying HEA. Kudos to this new writing team. I can’t wait to read more
I love this book so hard. I couldn’t put it down. These two authors are deadly together. They kept me so intrigued that I couldn’t put it down. I so love a second chance love story. Absolutely amazing. Highly recommend.
Wow! Gwen and Harrison second chance love story is amazing! I loved it from the first page to the end. Impossible not to fall in love with Harrison. He is so handsome, loving, caring, protective and possessive. This story is so beautifully written. I love the ending. Kaylee Ryan and Lacey Black did a great job writing this story together. I’m looking forward for more stories written by these authors.
Harrison has been busy trying to build his business so that his wife and him can have great future. Winnie is in love with her husband but feels like he forgot her while building his business. She files to end their marriage but neither really want it. Can they find their way back to each other or is everything lost? When a surprise rocks both their worlds, will it bring them closer together or further apart?
I received a review copy of this book before release for an honest review.
This was a well written and extremely romantic story. It stars Winne/Gwen and Harrison who are deeply in love and have issues. I have been asked to not give away the books plot but as you can see from the gorgeous cover Winnie ends up pregnant and its a wild and fun ride.
I loved this story so much and I fell hard for Harrison, he is sorta a dream guy and I loved how the authors have the couple work through their issues. If you love a story with romance and close family and friends in a small town then you will love this story. It is a very written and enjoyable 2nd chance at love story.
This is Harrison and Gwen’s story and hopefully we will get Chase and Gwen’s sisters story next.
It’s Not Over is a good read. Don’t think that a three star rating means it’s not. I typically give 3-3.5 stars to a book I liked even though there were a few things that didn’t jive with me. I would still recommend a 3 star read I just don’t think it’s a book I would personally read again. I am saying all this because these days there seems to be a big debate when it comes to book ratings and I wanted to clarify what I feel this rating means and why I use it. Going off goodreads, 3 stars means I liked it and I tend to agree!
That being said, this is the first time I have read a collaboration with these authors! I think the way they wrote together was great. Sometimes cowritten books feel disjointed but that is not the case here. It’s Not Over is a second chance romance. It’s a story about two people who love one another but divorce because communication is lacking. Had the two talked about their problems and feelings I would doubt they would have went as far as they did in terminating their relationship. I am not saying this as a spoiler FYI. If you read the synopsis of the book it basically tells you this (and the general gist of the book).
One of the things that I really loved about this book is how heartwarming it felt. Love, a second time around, can be a good or bad thing. If you don’t fix the mistakes of your past it obviously won’y be good. However, if you open your eyes to your flaws and learn to communicate it can make a world of a difference. I SAW this in It’s Not Over and I think Lacey and Kaylee did a good job at showing it to us readers.
What I didn’t care for when it comes to the book is their actual divorce. It becomes clear early on that neither of the two truly wanted it so the fact that they had to spend all that time and money to dissolve their marriage and then come back together again (rather quickly) was silly. I know this actually happens in real life, but for me I just wanted to slap them!
Other than this, I felt like It’s Not Over was a solid read. It’s deep in emotion, heartache, love, and more. I look forward to reading more of their books in the future!
**4.5 Stars**
With a cover like this, and the fact that Kaylee Ryan wrote it, there was little chance I was not going to love this book. Lacey Black is a new author for me so I was excited to read this collaboration with Kaylee Ryan.
It’s Not Over is a fierce love story. It’s a story of a second chances and fighting for what is most important. It’s about realizing what matters and ensuring nothing gets in your way from getting or keeping it…again.
Harrison…total swoon. Harrison was everything. This man needs to be cloned. He fiercely fought for his love and relationship with Winnie, and despite the challenges thrown at them, wouldn’t give up.
I also really enjoyed the extra characters in the book including Chase and Gabby and would love to maybe see more of them one day. This book was romantic, emotional, had some drama thrown in, and of course had an amazing swoon worthy hero Kaylee Ryan books are known for. A definite must read!!!
Gwen and Harrison end up divorcing after they couldn’t make their marriage work. The couple didn’t count on a new person to think about besides themselves. Harrison knew signing the papers was a mistake but he wanted Gwen to be happy. Gwen still loves Harrison but this new surprise is overwhelming for them both. Another try might be in the works and hopefully this time around things will work out for the couple. I was pulled right in since I love second chance stories. A good read and the authors writing blended perfectly.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving a review.
It’s Not Over is a second chance love story by Kaylee Ryan and Lacey Black. I’ve never read Lacey prior to this but I felt that their words flowed effortlessly and I could not tell where one author stopped and the other started.
Harrison and Gwyn could not make their marriage work and divorced. However, with a new life thrown into the mix, Harrison decides its time to up his game and get his wife back.
It’s Not Over would have been an easy four star read for me but I felt that the two main characters were separated for what felt like a day and reunited very quickly. I think this could have been drawn out a little more to make it more believable.
Overall the story was sexy and emotional with angst and suspense thrown in for good measure. I enjoyed Harrison and Gwyn along with the secondary characters.
The end is only the beginning
It’s over. The papers have been signed and the divorce is final. But what happens when neither person wants it to be over? When an unexpected pregnancy comes along Harrison Drake knows he cannot live without his love Winnie. This story is amazing, heartbreaking and beautiful. It rips your heart out in the beginning but slowly puts it back together. Lacey and Kaylee make an amazing writing duo, and I cannot wait for more.
This is a second chance book for Winnie and Harrison. Life decided that Winnie and Harrison needed some time apart. Their marriage took a hit, as most marriages seem to do. This is a story about a new beginning after a divorce. But, that new beginning is with each other. I loved the way the story unfolded. The hard part was all in the beginning. The rest of the book just took us on their journey. Thank goodness that there weren’t many bumps along the way, and that both Winnie and Harrison knew they each had to give 100% to their love. I loved this book and everything in it. Dual point of view. No cliffhanger, but Chase and Gina are on the horizon!
It’s Not Over by Kaylee Ryan and Lacey Black is a different kind of second chance romance. Gwen and Harrison were college sweethearts who loved each other very much. They married and made plans, but then life got in the way. Harrison threw himself into work to provide for the family he knew he wanted. Gwen felt like she was losing her husband. Before they knew it, they were divorced. But both knew immediately it was a mistake.
It’s Not Over was a sweet and charming story with very light angst, second chances and a bit of suspense at the end. Gwen and Harrison truly loved each other but lost their way. As soon as the papers were signed, Harrison knew it was a mistake and knew he was going to fight for his wife. He saw his mistakes and would do anything to rectify them. Gwen was sweet and caring, but now sure if she should give Harrison another chance. But life works in mysterious ways and soon they found themselves looking for what they lost.
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading.
It’s Not Over is the first novel by the duo of Lacey Black and Kaylee Ryan. I have read every word Lacey has written and loved each and every one of them. And this is actually the first piece of work I have read by Kaylee and I know it won’t be my last. Together, these two have made co-writing look easy, from the reader’s point of view. They blended perfectly. I don’t want to spoil anything so I will try to make this quick.
They had it all. Love. Family. Friends. A home. Careers. Harrison as an gym owner. Winnie as a preschool teacher. They never fell out of love with each other but it wasn’t enough. Their lives were in sync one day and then the next it wasn’t. That’s how it felt anyway. It was a slow progression that hit hard at the end. It was all about communication and they didn’t have it. Harrison worked long hours. Winnie was home waiting for him. It wasn’t the life they planned.
Harrison didn’t want the divorce. He thought that’s what she wanted and he would do anything to make Winnie happy. So he signed the papers and immediately regretted it. He was ready to fight for her like he should have when he left her on the couch months ago. This time he was not letting her go. He had more reason to fight. He knows what it’s like to lose her. He can’t let it happen again.
Winnie missed her husband. Ex-husband. She will always love him but she had to let him go. But now he is back. Fighting for her. Fighting for them. Harrison blamed himself but Winnie takes the blame as well. It takes two. Can she risk falling even more in love with her ex-husband when there is a chance it can fall apart again?
I swooned so hard with this one. Harrison doesn’t pull any stops. He is full steam ahead. He wants to date his wife. To woo her all over again. He wants his wife back. Forever.
Overall…I fell hard. For the characters. For the writing. For the story. For the secondary characters. It really had it all. I laughed. I cried. I felt their love. I wanted to cut a bitch. I wanted to give Winnie a hug and Harrison encouragement. I also wanted to be there to witness Chase (Harrison’s best friend) and Gabby’s (Winnie’s sister) banter. Omg! Their story is going to be epic.
Quotes:
“I’m sorry, but fuck, Gwendolyn, you’re my fucking heart. I don’t know what to do without you.”
“Don’t be afraid, Winnie. I let you down once, but I’d rather die than do it a second time. Trust me.”
My sister smiles sweetly. “I’ve missed you too, Chase. But at this range, I’m sure to hit my target.”
Lacey Black and Kaylee Ryan make one heck of a duo. They’re like the dream team I didn’t know I needed in my life. I’ve always loved a good second chance romance, but what these ladies have delivered with It’s Not Over takes second chance to the next level. Harrison and Winnie’s story is everything I love about second chances with a whole new twist.
These two soul mates may have lost their way but the love they have never let go. You could actually FEEL the strength of their love while reading. I cried with them, I cheered for them, I was fully invested in these two. And I swooned. A lot. Like full on cry from how beautiful Harrison’s love for Winnie is levels of swoon.
