They call him the Anaconda, and I’m pretty sure it isn’t because he likes snakes. Nick Jenson is my neighbor. My hot, oh-so-sexy, very-well-equipped neighbor that I’d spend hours watching from the safety of my bedroom window. I saw lots of things I probably shouldn’t have. Sometimes I’d touch myself, imagining it were his hands roaming over my body instead of my own. I had just one mission—to … one mission—to find out if the rumors were true.
Then one day, he caught me watching him.
I was mortified. I was prepared to quit college, move to another country, and live the rest of my life saying, “Nick who?” But, apparently, life had other ideas.
Because Nick? Well, he isn’t just my neighbor … He’s also my father’s best friend. If I thought things were difficult before, they were about to get a whole lot more complicated.
Oh, and those rumors? Holy fuck, were they true …
Awkward Love is a series of short, sexy, fun novels that can be read in ANY order. Each book is COMPLETELY seperate from the next, so you can read one, or you can read them all

This was a cute older guy/younger girl type of book.
I really liked this book for the most part. I loved the single dad aspect and the neighbor who comes over to help. I thought their chemistry was hot. I also liked the beginning when she was so shy and nervous around him.
I’m not crazy about the whole friend of her fathers though. Nick and Anna seem closer in age and maturity than Nick and her father.
Nick is Anna’s neighbor and when she hears rumors of his substantial size she is curious enough to peek. That is the beginning of what becomes some very hot window to window communication followed by a passionate affair and a wonderful HEA.
There is plenty of heat with these two as they navigate their feelings for each other and the complication of Nick being Anna’s dad’s best friend. NIck is a wonderful hero who is a really good dad to his two kids. He is smart, kind, and sexy. Anna is a confident young woman who falls hard for NIck. I love that they stand together through the challenges that could separate them. I really enjoyed this book.
i was given the chance to BETA read this one and lets just say that i waited impatiently to recieve new chapters, i enjoyed it that much. This one was a cute/hot love story for these two coming together. there were moments that you had to laugh because the female character is just that clueless when it comes to her neighbor. the male character is one that i can say i had some sympathy for, him loosing his wife was hard on him. and then when he was entering the dating game again he was just not having any luck. that is until he finally opens his eyes and sees whats right next door to him. the being best friends with her father can be a problem. but the moments that they are together are just right.
i can’t wait to get the next book in this series.
After reading the blurb for Awkard Love #1 and #2, I just had to buy both.
Though inniatialy I was more excited about “I Can Explain”, was because of “It’s Complicated” that I found myself wearing a goofy smile.
It’s funny, sweet and sexy.
Anna cant resist the urge to try and find out if the rumors about Nick are true, and we definitely appreciate her for it.
And Nick…Oh Nick…
He can fight all he wants; we know where this is going.

This is the third book I’ve read by this author and I really enjoyed it. As expected, I got moments that made me laugh and moments that were hot. It’s rare that I binge read these days, but I’ve read all 3 books by this author today. I’m about to jump into my fourth book as after reading book 6 and loving it, I headed straight to KU and downloaded the other 5 books of this series. I love how each book can be read as a standalone and out of order. Each book also has a completely different story, so this series is ideal for readers who like variety. I’ll definitely be recommending this series to other reader friends.
For adult readers.
Anna is 22 and finishing up college to be an architect. Anna lives with her, but he is gone a lot with his new girlfriend. Anna and her dad live next to Nick, he is her dad’s best friend. She has heard around town that he has recently started dating again. Anna has also heard people call him Anaconda, and how he split a woman’s vagina trying to do the nasty! Even with all of this Anna can not help but be curious.
Nick is a 37 year old single father of 2. Nick lost his wife to cancer several years ago and has decided it’s time to get back out there. He has seen Anna watching him, but she is his best friend’s daughter. She has grown up beautiful. Nick thinks about her.
This is a short easy read. It a story about an older man struggling, but failing to stay away from his best friend’s adult daughter. A young woman trying to decided whether she should please her dad or follow her heart. There are no triggers here, everything is consensual.
4 Anaconda Size Stars!!
This was another book by Missy Johnson that when I picked up I read straight thru in one shot. This is a good start to whats going to be another great series by Missy Johnson.
While at the library on campus Anna hears a conversation about a girl needing stitches after a wild night with her date. Anna was shocked to hear the guy who has the anaconda in his pants is her neighbor and dads best friend. He lost his wife a few years ago and its just him and his kids now.
Ever since hearing the conversation in the library Anna cant help but think about Nick. When she’s in her room and looks out her window she gets a look at Nick in his full glory in his own bedroom. Anna cant believe how beautiful Nick is without clothes on. Unfortunately, Anna isn’t slick enough and gets caught by Nick. If thats not awkward enough they start teasing each other nightly in front of their windows. Until her dad thinks Nick needs some help with the kids so he sends Anna straight over to the anacondas cage.
Nick cant believe this game him and Anna been playing at nighttime in front of the window. Nick was finally ready to start dating after loosing his wife. It’s shocking to him that he’s so attracted to Anna, his younger neighbor, who use to babysit his kids and just happens to be his best friends daughter. When he suggests Anna come help him with the kids he’s not sure exactly sure how it’s going to end.
Nick realizes quick he doesn’t want to stay away from Anna. They get into a routine with the kids and then time for just them quickly. Even though he feels bad for lying to his best friend, he doesn’t want to loose Anna. When he tries to do something nice for Anna, it backfires. Now, he’s on a boat with her, his, kids, Anna’s friend and his best friend Anna’s father and his girlfriend.
Nick and Anna are going into thinking everything will be fine. Until all hell breaks loose and they’re all left wounded.
This was a nice fast paced read. And, man was it legit hot. I mean Anna and Nick are smoking hot!!! Missy never disappoints when it comes to either having you hot while reading or bawling uncontrollably. This time it was hot!! I’m really looking forward to the next book in this series of short stories.
This book was a good quick read that is defiantly a taboo relationship.
Anna is a college student that still lives at home with her dad. However, when at the library she hears two other women talking about her neighbor, Nick Jenson. Well, after hearing them she has to know does he really have an anaconda in his pants. She will soon find out because her bedroom window is right across from his and he gives her a show without even knowing he is doing so. What happens if he catches her and will anything come from being caught?
Missy Johnson really knows how to write taboo relationships because I have read many and this one drew me in from the beginning and had me reading until the very end. She was able to show that no matter what that a relationship between a couple and even best-friends can survive differences. I will say that I cannot wait to see what other books she will be writing for this series.
This book really surprised me! Yes, it’s fairly smutty, and it does hinge on a somewhat “taboo” romance. But it is both hilarious and well written, and the characters are really surprisingly well developed. Definitely an author I’ll be keeping an eye out for if I’m interested on a sexy, funny read.
It’s a complicated story alright! A single dad falling in love with a younger woman who happens to be your best friend’s daughter.
But the author was able to uncomplicate things the way she wrote each scene. It’s well- written… fast-moving… hilarious, generously provided by our heroine, Anna… and the romantic, sexy scene between Nick and Anna was just oozing with hotness.
It was another fantastic read from Ms. Johnson and I look forward to reading more from this author.
Anna is neighbors with Nick. She is younger and has been watching Nick from her bedroom window. A game of cat and mouse goes on between them. A funny, sweet, sexy romance that I loved reading.
I received an arc and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a pretty quick read which I enjoyed even though I didn’t really connect with Anna or Nick.
Nick is a single father raising two children after his wife died two years earlier from Cancer and is now starting to date again. This is both fortunate and unfortunate for Anna. Anna lives next door to Nick, not only that but Nick is Anna’s fathers best friend….yeah that complicates things a bit now doesn’t it.
The gossip around their small town is that Nick is hiding an anaconda….in his pants and he even sent a woman to the hospital because he caused some damage during sex, lets just say he was a bit to large for her tight opening. Ok, Ok, I know that sounds ridiculous but that’s the story and I’m sticking to it.
I really enjoyed Nick’s children, they really had me laughing at certain parts of the book (you’ll know what I mean when you read the book yourself). I did not like Anna’s father at all he was dating and spent all of his time with Mandy and was never around for Anna. I get it Anna is twenty-two and really doesn’t need her father all up in her business, but what really annoyed me was what happened when he found out about Anna and Nick.
It’s Complicated is the first book in the Awkward Love series and I am sooo looking forward to the next book I Can Explain which is due out in January and is a Boss/Employee Romance…I really enjoy that Trope don’t you?!?
**I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book**
3.5 stars
Sometimes a low angst, fun and sexy read is just what you need for that quick escape from reality. It’s Complicated fits that bill perfectly. This romance has a bit of the taboo of Dad’s best friend while Nick isn’t old enough to be a silver fox, there is a significant age difference for a little of the older man/younger woman trope as an added bonus. Nick and Anna do have good chemistry and they are both likable characters that you genuinely want to root for. A few things in the story were a little over the top and could’ve made this one downright hilarious, but it still works for this one and there was some witty dialogue and chuckle worthy moments, making for a lighthearted, leave you with a smile read.
