Whoever said life begins at forty must have been heavily medicated, drunk, or delusional.  Thirty-nine was a fantastic year. I was married to the man I loved. I had a body that worked without creaking. My grandma, who raised me, was still healthy, and life was pretty damned good.  But as they say, all good things come to an end. I’d honestly love to know who ‘they’ are and rip them a new … new one. One year later, I’m a widow. My joints are starting to ache. Gram is in the nursing home, and dead people think my home is some kind of supernatural bed and breakfast. Gluing body parts onto semi-transparent people has become a side job-deceased people I’m not even sure are actually there. I think they need my help, but since I don’t speak dead, we’re having a few issues.  To add to the heap of trouble, there’s a new dangerously smokin’ hot lawyer at the firm who won’t stop giving me the eye. My BFF is thrilled with her new frozen face, thanks to her plastic surgeon, her alimony check, and the miracle of Botox. And then there’s the little conundrum that I’m becoming way too attached to my ghostly squatters? Like Cher, I’d like to turn back time. Now. No can do.   Whatever. I have wine, good friends, and an industrial sized box of superglue. What could possibly go wrong? Everything, apparently. All in all, it’s shaping up to be a wonderful midlife crisis?

It didn’t take long before I was thinking this book is awesome!! It did get a little more out there than I was expecting, but I loved this book and the ones that came after
It’s a wonderful Midlife Crisis is a
sweet, hilarious and very emotional tale. Daisy is fantastic. I connected with her character almost instantly.
This part of her crazy yet amazing story leaves off on a bit of a heartbreaking note but Daisy is about to become a force to be reckoned with.
If you love stories with heart that make you laugh out loud then you might want to give Daisy story a try.
The narrator did an absolutely wonderful job too.
I freaking loved it! I love the book but the narrator is absolutely perfect and I lovvvvvveedd it. I laughed out loud so many times. I love the squatters, the hubs is the best and grams crack me up! There’s so much humor and a wonderful paranormal world being built with a midlife flair that’s not like any pwf I have read before. I mean turning forty and seeing ghost would freak anyone out right! This genre has brought so much enjoyment and this one is right at the top as one of my faves! The narrator couldn’t have been more perfect for this set of characters and I can’t wait to dive into books two!!!
This book is #PWF, the heroine is over 40 and I still found the book very entertaining. Daisy, is seeing ghosts and thinks it’s all in her head only to find out she is not going crazy..this book was hilarious and I loved it!!
I absolutely loved the audiobook. The narrator Jessica Almasy is phenomenal. For me, she brought the characters to life and it was a refreshing and enjoyable listen. I was able to feel the grief, pain, love, and laughter that the characters felt. Absolutely loved it!
Wow, just plain wow! Wow this is a massive curve ball from Robyn. Might be her best yet. I’m cry and laughing. Heart breaking and healing all at the same time. Daisy is a very strong and naive woman. You will ride all the highs and lows with her, her friends and Gideon (purrr)
Jessica Almasy did a phenomenal job ! I believe she was the perfect candidate for this job.
Robyn Peterman gives a fresh new take on the afterlife, angels and demons. In this world you will not expect what’s to come at the end. Plot Twist! It will make you appreciate your loved ones, friends, family and spouses.
Now excuse me while I go cuddle up with my husband and start the second book!
I really enjoyed it. Even though Daisy can see the dead, she is so much more. Throw in the supporting characters and it’s turning into a hot mess. I can’t wait for the next one.
I loved this book and I think that Robyn Peterman is an awesome writer.
Reading about Daisy and the things that happened on her 40th birthday was hilarious. Every character in this book is lovable but Clarissa, the only character that deserved an ass kicking.
This book is a very fun read. I’m just glad there are more books in this series.
I absolutely loved this book!!! The characters and story where were so entertaining that I couldn’t help but laugh out loud and I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to get the other books. If you like paranormal books with a great sense of humor, this book is for you. A must read!!
One of the better “midlife” urban fantasy novels.
Daisy is such an easy going, along for the ride character. Dead people show themselves to her and she takes it in stride making it fit into her daily life. Everything is cute and flowing along until the turn at the end of the book which leads into the next in this series.
This was my first book of Robyn Peterman’s that I’ve read, though I’ve had some of hers on my shelf for a while now. She’s kooky and fun; though you do see the vulnerable parts that the main character Daisy goes through as she’s facing down midlife. She struggles with a lot of things most women do with image, manners, speaking up for yourself and others; etc. It took me a while to get used to her writing style and the book itself when I started it, but I definitely wanted to see what would happen next by the end. Daisy is smart and compassionate, with crazy family and friends, and it just makes for a very enjoyable read. There’s a twist halfway through that you don’t see coming, but really pulls at your heartstrings. I think that was the final hook to get me into this series, and now I can’t wait to see what will happen next.
This is a fun and quirky story about Daisy’s midlife crisis. Here she is tooling along in life and suddenly becomes a widow..that’s not the funny part, I promise. Things go haywire at her job and now she sees dead people. OMG, how sixth sense is that?! Her grandmother tries to explain things but Daisy finds herself fumbling along trying to figure out what it is she is supposed to be doing. These ghosts won’t go away, their parts are falling off and she is gluing them back on, she can’t get any work done, and she has an amazingly sexy man that keeps pushing himself into her life. Oh, but wait! There’s more! We find out some secrets about her husband too! This book is a riot! “Midlife was more than a series of crises. It was a freaking destination, and the ride was seriously bumpy.” While some of it was a bit corny, it was seriously funny and definitely heart-warming. I really needed a pick me up and something different from the usual paranormal romance-y type stuff. This was just what I needed. Bravo, Robyn! I look forward to continuing this journey!
This is a hilarious story about a woman hitting 40 and the equally funny or weird changes she goes through. Daisy just hit 40 and was hoping it would be as good or better than year 39. But it started with ghosts showing up in her house and limbs and heads falling on the floor. Add a hot lawyer, immortals and her deceased husband into the mix and it’s a book you have to read.
Daisy lost her husband to a car accident. She has had a hard time dealing with his passing. She has started to see ghosts, she feels like she is losing her mind. She finally addresses the ghosts, so she can try to help them. One of the ghosts pulls her into his memories. She is realizes she can understand him. She is able to help him find peace.
Daisy is told to work from home from her co-worker Clarissa due her wanting the new lawyer. Daisy doesn’t care about that but fears for her job. She meets the new lawyer and he causes a reaction in her. He even shows up at her friend’s shop. He speaks to her cryptically about seeing her.
Daisy finds out why she can see dead people and what she really is. Daisy is upset over the news but is ok with it. Daisy also finds herself seeing her husband again. He gives her some heartbreaking news. Daisy is also getting closer to Gideon. When something bad happens, Daisy will ruin everything.
This was an interesting read, starts off a little slow at the beginning. It does pick up as it goes on. Daisy can be a little annoying at parts. I am looking forward to seeing what happens next in book 2.
This is a laugh out loud romp that I am recommending to everyone I talk to. I absolutely adore Daisy and all her quirky friends. Her Gram is a total hoot and the snark is off the chain. LOVE THIS STORY.
A series of surprises must be faced. She is not crazy. She is a counselor for the dead.
Her beloved husband was also a very closeted gay man – she wasn’t sexually broken and unattractive- she was much loved and treasured.
Is it finally time for love, and for new chapters in her life?
Maybe, if she can move past her dead husband’s emotional betrayal, and her own lack of faith and understanding for and in her new love
Aside from a really nasty character and a good character who both were not what she expected, the worse part of this story id waiting for the next book to see what happens next!
I hope the desired lady balls help kick her biggest pain in the butt besides herself where it counts!
Good story with well done, complex characters and a storyline that keeps you amused and wondering what will happen next until the very end.
It had been awhile since I had dived into one of this author’s novels. Oh my how I had forgotten how divine they are. The humor that begins this or at least to me it was got me into this right from the start. She thinks it is good until things change and a different path has begun. Oh the laughter I would have rolling out of me though when the dead and her are on the pages. Daisy also starts to steam whenever around her co-worker. That friend of hers is a piece of work too. By then you are so into this you do not want to come out. I sometimes had to dab the eyes from the laughter. This spoke to me also being older I can see myself doing some of this haha!
The glue that holds everyone together
If you are looking for a guaranteed roll on the floor laugh, then look no further than this book. Once again, the author has wowed me with her ability to find humor in any situation. These characters are so relatable and make me laugh even when that is not what they were going for. I love that the story is quirky and all about finding the new you later in life. This book was fabulous at keeping me on my toes and inching around the corners to see what could possibly happen next. I couldn’t stop turning the pages until the very end and yes, I kept trying to turn a few more just to make sure the ending wasn’t a gag, but in staying true to her normal fashion this author left me anxiously awaiting the next installment and I can only hope that the wait won’t be too long.
With forty years upon her, out of circulation and a little depressed after being widowed, mysteriously and suddenly Daisy’s life takes a new turn, and for the side of the dead no less! The story had me laughing with the comments and the hilarious things that happened to the protagonist but there were also her moments that brought out emotions. I couldn’t stop reading! I liked the plot development that included tender situations, suspense, intriguing characters, an amazing pet, mystery, strong emotions and romance. First book that I read by this author and it was very interesting and entertaining. Ended with a cliffhanger that left me eager to get the second book.
