“A landmark in American literature” (Chicago Sun-Times)—Stephen King’s #1 national bestseller about seven adults who return to their hometown to confront a nightmare they had first stumbled on as teenagers…an evil without a name: It. Welcome to Derry, Maine. It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real. They were seven teenagers when …
They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But the promise they made twenty-eight years ago calls them reunite in the same place where, as teenagers, they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children. Now, children are being murdered again and their repressed memories of that terrifying summer return as they prepare to once again battle the monster lurking in Derry’s sewers.
Readers of Stephen King know that Derry, Maine, is a place with a deep, dark hold on the author. It reappears in many of his books, including Bag of Bones, Hearts in Atlantis, and 11/22/63. But it all starts with It.
“Stephen King’s most mature work” (St. Petersburg Times), “It will overwhelm you… to be read in a well-lit room only” (Los Angeles Times).

Love it
I love it!
one of the best books i have ever read
This is probably the single most influential King book of his whole catalogue, when it comes to me growing into the writer I am today.
I read IT the first time when I was ten-years old, and then spend the next six months avoiding storm drains and clowns and that visceral reaction to words on a page, not only sent me suddenly reading every horror book I could get my hands on, it also firmly sowed the seed of eventually writing my own scary stories.
Loved the book
Still scared of drains
One of the best books out there
This may be my favorite King book. Spooky, tense, a general sense of foreboding pervades the pages.
Just little disappointed in the ending which is common to me in Kings’ books
I loved it
why can’t I read them I’m gonna cry
I read this book some years ago. I have read a lot of Stephen King’s books and think this is one of the best.
I love Stephen King books and this one was good but not his best. There was a part that drags but if you push through it pays off. I know most people will just watch the newer movies but I feel a person’s imagination is the scariest. It is worth the read.
I’m 14 and I loved it
Very scary, page turner. Loved it. Scariest one next to the Shining
i thought it was a really sweet book about a how a boy gets eaten by a killer clown and his brother and his friends try to stop the clown before it devours the entire city with blood and amazing definitely not violent book i recommend this book is for children 7 and under.
Its Great!!
i don’t have the effort to leave a long review but this is my favorite book in existence. i read it twice in a span of five months (it’s 1200 pages long) and never got bored once (and it left me sobbing for an hour both times i finished it). while the plot is certainly a page-turner, and it’s an amazing story, if you’re like me, you read books for the characters–and the characters are the main reason i adore this novel so much. the seven main characters of this novel are my favorite group of friends in existence. their relationship and their personalities feel so real. i mean, if you read books for characters, this is exactly the novel you want to read. i still think about this book daily. please do yourself a favor and buy this thing. it’s wonderful. (be forewarned, though: when i selected each thing that i liked about the book, i meant them. i mean, when i clicked that the book had wonderful characters, i mean it had WONDERFUL characters. but when i said the book was tragic, i meant it was TRAGIC. be ready to cry.)
This book is scary if you are afraid of clowns. I enjoy the book as much as I enjoyed the movie. Both the books and the movie were the same.
I read this book when I was nine and while it scared the heck out of me, if you’re looking for a fantastic and scary horror novel, then this is definitely the book for you. It is original, terrifying and will stay with you long after you’ve finished reading it. Highly recommend to both King fans and new readers.
One of the classic horror stories! Love this book!
