“A landmark in American literature” (Chicago Sun-Times)—Stephen King’s #1 national bestseller about seven adults who return to their hometown to confront a nightmare they had first stumbled on as teenagers…an evil without a name: It. Welcome to Derry, Maine. It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real. They were seven teenagers when …
They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But the promise they made twenty-eight years ago calls them reunite in the same place where, as teenagers, they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children. Now, children are being murdered again and their repressed memories of that terrifying summer return as they prepare to once again battle the monster lurking in Derry’s sewers.
Readers of Stephen King know that Derry, Maine, is a place with a deep, dark hold on the author. It reappears in many of his books, including Bag of Bones, Hearts in Atlantis, and 11/22/63. But it all starts with It.
“Stephen King’s most mature work” (St. Petersburg Times), “It will overwhelm you… to be read in a well-lit room only” (Los Angeles Times).

it was my first Stephen King, at 14, it was terrifying.
Good, but one of those endings that kind of disappoints
typical “King”, young children, long, page turner. I Love King!
This book is what nightmares are made of.
Stephen King of the thrill genre is the best author ever for scaring the wits end out of you every time. Very unpredictable and a true page turner.
S. C. A. R. Y. S. *. *. T. !!!!!!!
This book gave me the willies.
Wicked. Pennywise is someone I would not want to meet.
Read this years ago one and only book that gave me nightmares. Stephen King’ s writing and my imagination didn’t mix well. My dream clown was so much more scary than the movie one
Still can’t walk by a storm drain some 30 years later without remembering Pennywise. Shiver
Still my favorite SK novel. Epic adventure combined with absolute horror.
SCARY!! And I loved it!!
One of the scariest books ever!
If you aren’t afraid of clowns before reading this. You will be afterwards!
Classic Stephen King!
Wonderful to read very scary, but it had a terrible ending. The shining was great.
Dead zone is the best.
One of the King’s greatest works
Ah, Stephen King’s classic book simply titled “It”. A deliciously scary novel that is one of many attributes that contributed early on to my fear of clowns. What starts out as a coming of age tale, set back in “the good old days”, quickly becomes one of King’s (in my opinion) most twisted stories. Multiple adults are summoned back to their childhood hometown by one friend who stayed behind after the others moved on. He calls them back to the town and back to the past……
They were a group of adolescent children in a town called Derry, drawn together due to similar misfortunes. The rag-tag group of outsiders form an almost alien bond of friendship. Unbeknownst to them, that bond would be the driving force to defeat a wicked presence that had taken a hold of their town. They take matters into their on hands and face the enemy head on, where they assume they’ve “killed it” forever.
Only they didn’t, because evil never really dies. It may lie dormant for a long time, but It’s always there…waiting. The wayward adults are flooded with memories of a horrible time they had graciously repressed. Thrown back almost thirty years to a time of paralyzing fear, they know they have to go back and finish what they started as children. And, they really have no choice. They’re the chosen ones, they know IT, and they know that “we all float down here.”
I love everything by Stephen King!
