“A landmark in American literature” (Chicago Sun-Times)—Stephen King’s #1 national bestseller about seven adults who return to their hometown to confront a nightmare they had first stumbled on as teenagers…an evil without a name: It. Welcome to Derry, Maine. It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real. They were seven teenagers when …
They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But the promise they made twenty-eight years ago calls them reunite in the same place where, as teenagers, they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children. Now, children are being murdered again and their repressed memories of that terrifying summer return as they prepare to once again battle the monster lurking in Derry’s sewers.
Readers of Stephen King know that Derry, Maine, is a place with a deep, dark hold on the author. It reappears in many of his books, including Bag of Bones, Hearts in Atlantis, and 11/22/63. But it all starts with It.
“Stephen King’s most mature work” (St. Petersburg Times), “It will overwhelm you… to be read in a well-lit room only” (Los Angeles Times).

It is an ok book kind of wordy and slow at times.
Read with the lights on!
One of Kings best.
one of the scariest books I have ever read and there have been many lots of things occurred in the book that didn’t make it to the movie the older version
Love the way this book is written, the newest movie refrenced the book alot while missing its feel of creepiness and psycological horrer, and replaced it with cheap jump scares. This is a long creepy and sometimes funny book that grabs you and pulls you in and, keeps you reading “just one more chapter”.
Both movies are far better than the book! Kids having sex in the sewers? How does that advance the plot? Plus, the monster was just “Ungoliant” from Lord of the Rings.
this book is better then i have ever liked
The only book I would not read at night or when I was alone. Terrified me.
One of Kings best!
Scary!!!!! Loved the book
This is a pretty scary book. I remember the first time I read it, I would stay up reading until my husband came home from night shift. This book had me hearing every little noise around my house.
Best book S. King has ever written!

The only Stephen King book I wouldn’t finish after dark. Wow!
King at the top of his game. The characters he creates are unforgettable and you become invested in everything they do protagonist and hero and villain. Could not put this book down. I still reread it periodically and it always affects me. A must read!
