“A landmark in American literature” (Chicago Sun-Times)—Stephen King’s #1 national bestseller about seven adults who return to their hometown to confront a nightmare they had first stumbled on as teenagers…an evil without a name: It. Welcome to Derry, Maine. It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real. They were seven teenagers when …
They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But the promise they made twenty-eight years ago calls them reunite in the same place where, as teenagers, they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children. Now, children are being murdered again and their repressed memories of that terrifying summer return as they prepare to once again battle the monster lurking in Derry’s sewers.
Readers of Stephen King know that Derry, Maine, is a place with a deep, dark hold on the author. It reappears in many of his books, including Bag of Bones, Hearts in Atlantis, and 11/22/63. But it all starts with It.
“Stephen King’s most mature work” (St. Petersburg Times), “It will overwhelm you… to be read in a well-lit room only” (Los Angeles Times).

King at his best. Extremely compelling characters and storytelling. This book is one of the key reasons King is considered the master.
A book that scares the boogies right out of you. I hate clowns.
It is very scary.
I prefer Stephen King’s earlier books but if you like the genre you can’t go wrong with King. 4 stars because his books tend to ramble a bit and hence are longer than they need to be. IT falls into this category.
Scariest book I ever read, even with an anti-climatic ending
Absolutely amazing. Could not put it down. Thrills on every page. It’s long but never dull.
Loved this book. Scared the heck out of me.
Read many years ago and still think it is a great page turner!

One of the truly great horror stories of all time. King gave his best to this book!
Another great King book, Pennywise is an unforgettable character. The story of a group of young friends fighting the evil clown is very scary.

You can visualize every move and character with Kings great writing.
One of King’s best. Terrifying.
Amazing. One of Stephen King’s best books. Salem’s Lot, The Shining, The Stand, and It were his best books. Also included in the best is the Gunslinger series.
way too long to lead to a moronic ending
This book has been a favorite of mine since I was a teenager. Always a great read.
