“A landmark in American literature” (Chicago Sun-Times)—Stephen King’s #1 national bestseller about seven adults who return to their hometown to confront a nightmare they had first stumbled on as teenagers…an evil without a name: It. Welcome to Derry, Maine. It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real. They were seven teenagers when …
They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But the promise they made twenty-eight years ago calls them reunite in the same place where, as teenagers, they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children. Now, children are being murdered again and their repressed memories of that terrifying summer return as they prepare to once again battle the monster lurking in Derry’s sewers.
Readers of Stephen King know that Derry, Maine, is a place with a deep, dark hold on the author. It reappears in many of his books, including Bag of Bones, Hearts in Atlantis, and 11/22/63. But it all starts with It.
“Stephen King’s most mature work” (St. Petersburg Times), “It will overwhelm you… to be read in a well-lit room only” (Los Angeles Times).

We’re all scared of clowns, especially if imagined by Stephen King. The ending was slightly disappointing by the journey was well worth “IT”.

A coming of age story about seven friends in a small town. A small town with its own secret monster that is in control of everyone. They faced down the monster and then years later have to do it all over again. Yes, this took forever for me to finish but I ended up loving it! I plan to do a re-read in the near future but this time the audio version.
This was the first horror book I read and It created the monster in me. It is excellently horrifying and grips you with its harsh talons never letting you go. Beware Reader, You won’t want this tale to end.
Great book, this one will be read again
Stephen King at his best. One of my favorite books.
Great story from a great writer…I know this is an older book because I read it when it was first published, and I read it again just before the new movie came out. Had really forgotten how good it was! Loved it just as much this time as I did the first time.
They’re GGGGRRRRREAT
Mr. King captured the very essence of childhood; innocence, imagination, and loyalty.
When I read the book and watched the movie I had chills. Then every time I look somewhere I just think the balloons will come and it……. WILL JUST POP OUT like I’m still scared of it so it’s too scary
One of King’s very best, in what I consider to be an uneven body of work. But at his best, King is a Master. I’ve read it more than once.
I loved it. I do recommend to all people that love Stephen king’s books.
I loved the book. I’ve seen the movies and the book is so much better. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. It’s a page turner. You can’t put it down. Awesome book.
A tale of horror and suspense! Scary with unexpected twists which keep the reader entertained. Very descriptive which adds to the realism!
Loved it scared the crap out off me
Many therapists owe their livelihood to this book…
