“A landmark in American literature” (Chicago Sun-Times)—Stephen King’s #1 national bestseller about seven adults who return to their hometown to confront a nightmare they had first stumbled on as teenagers…an evil without a name: It. Welcome to Derry, Maine. It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real. They were seven teenagers when …
They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But the promise they made twenty-eight years ago calls them reunite in the same place where, as teenagers, they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children. Now, children are being murdered again and their repressed memories of that terrifying summer return as they prepare to once again battle the monster lurking in Derry’s sewers.
Readers of Stephen King know that Derry, Maine, is a place with a deep, dark hold on the author. It reappears in many of his books, including Bag of Bones, Hearts in Atlantis, and 11/22/63. But it all starts with It.
“Stephen King’s most mature work” (St. Petersburg Times), “It will overwhelm you… to be read in a well-lit room only” (Los Angeles Times).

I enjoyed the book until I got to the end, was a disappointed when IT turned out to be an alien spider. But still a good read.
Nothing explains the amazing horror of this book!!!
Una obra maestra sin dudarlo el mejor libro de Stephen King
One of King’s best
amazing book
This is perhaps my favorite book of all time. The characters are all the friends you loved as a child and left behind when you went on with your adult life. The monster is…perfect. The only thing that could possibly sum up all fears of childhood. And, rarely for a Stephen King book, the ending is actually worthy of the journey.
But on a broader level, this book is the ultimate example of what I think of as small-town horror. It captures the coziness of being a child there, and the need to escape as you get older. It captures the sadness of going back and seeing that your town has changed in ways you never imagined (and although it captures some of the sadness of seeing your hometown dying, they hadn’t seen nothin’ yet in 1985). And most importantly, it captures the darkness beneath the surface of all those bucolic little towns. It’s easy for adults to forget as they go about their busy lives, but it’s there. The old folks and the children know.
Very scary book, so was the TV movie.
it is not as good as the movie
It’s Stephen KIng at his scariest!
Loved this book. Made me afraid of clowns. Real good and scary. Me and my friends when younger did the same thing going into spooky houses, but glad we didnt run into any crazed clown.
Stephen King never fails! He is one of the best horror novelist to date!
One of my favorite king books. Realistic characters and a scary plot. Books are always better than the movies!
Great book
One of my favorites. I have read this book at least five times.
This has got to be my fave of favorites from Stephen King. The book is over a thousand pages but it goes quickly and very VERY scary!! You will never look at things especially clowns the same way ever!!
I liked the book but as much as I love Stephen King this just wasn’t my favorite. King usually gets 5 stars from me.
I hate horror but I’ll wade through it to read Stephen King. His writing is worth reading, even if I hate the subject.
My favorite author did it again. This is probably one of the scariest books I have ever read!
What can I say except it scared the crap outta me!!!! Intense, page turning and written perfectly as you would expect from a horror novel! Great book but I can not bring in my house now!!!!!
A must-read for anyone who enjoyed the movie.
